Can't wait for this! We are going to do IEW next year for our oldest.
I’m excited, too!
I am going to have to write this grammar down for consideration for next year now 👍. It looks wonderful!
We love Fix it Grammar so much!! It has helped my 8th grader so much in the grammar department and I really like it that it will all be together in one notebook, because our spiral pages would fall out and I would have to figure a way to store them together! This will fix that! ❤️👏👏👏
Is this different than it used to be? We used The Nose Tree last year for our 3rd and 7th grader and this year are doing Robin Hood for our now 4th and 8th grader. It looks like they're broken down by grade level now, unless I missed that before.
Love the changes they've made to the books as far as writing space and telling the kids exactly what to find!
Love seeing the new changes! I am a bit disappointed that I can't download and print the student books anymore... for some of us that was a huge expense saver when you have multiple levels. I'm going to start deciding where my students fall into the new levels now. My older kids are finishing levels that are now the "next level" book in the new line up but the same story as what they are finishing. Do I move them up to the next level even though it's the same story or do I skip them to the new story?
Love Fix it Grammar! It is so easy for me to teach it and my little girl (4th grader) to use it even on days when I'm not feeling well! We did Abeka previously and even though my little girl was good with it she struggled once we started doing writing. IEW it's a blessing! She LOVES their writing lessons! She has made So much improvement!
Do you think my 10th grader could use IEW and fix it Grammar next school year? We have been using Abeka but he struggles with writing 😔 and grammar (he was in a private school but homeschooling 10th -12th grade)
What do you suggest for spelling?
Thank you for keeping us updated! God bless you and your family! ❤️
I have been eyeing iew for a while now. 😂
This is our 2nd year using fix it and it is an amazing program!
Yes!
I love this update. My only complaint is that the teachers manual no longer comes with a free student download.
Does this go through high school? How would it compare with The Good and the Beautiful?
You said they don’t need an extra notebook now, so where do they write their vocabulary at in the new book?
We starting Robinson curriculum next year I believe I’ll add in fix it grammar and structure and style. I’m excited about our new school year coming. ;)
RC has a grammar resource in the list btw, called Professor K. Rod and Staff is a lot more vigorous than fix it also x
@@jessicajones611 do you do RC?
How neat!
@@samanthagraveswalters8443 yes we do RC 💙
Aww I feel like a dork bc I am excited to find someone who does RC lol 😂
Are you on fb so I can find you ?
Hi! So are you no longer doing abeka then?
Do you think it’s worth getting the big package? With video lessons and everything? Or would just the fix it grammar package be enough?
I decided to get the IEW videos and it's been a blessing to my family. My younger children enjoy learning along with their brother.
Do the students still have to define vocabulary words? If so, is there enough space in the book for that as well?
That is my question too. Sad jo one has answered it. Did you use it and what did you do.
It looks like they maybe changed the content too. Book 2 looks pretty easy compared to what my daughter did at the end of Book 1 a few years ago. Even the large lines they have for books 1 and 2 make them feel very elementary. The old level was meant to be started at Book 1 even if a child was in middle school unless they had had sufficient grammar instruction.
I do like the format and see how it could benefit my younger two, but that leaves me wondering where to put my oldest as I was considering returning to the program. It seems she would at least need to be at level 3 just based on the appearance of the first two books. I also agree with the others who feel it is a downgrade that the student books are no longer free printables.
Is this a curriculum that a student would be able to open, read and begin the lesson on his own? Or does it require mom to teach it first?
Are there quizzes and tests?
Would you start a 4h grader in the nose or mouse book?
Nose tree
I’m confused about the grade recommendations for these books level 1 is grades 3-5 and level 2 is grades 6-8. So if I have a third grader use level 1 do you know what I should I do for grades 4 and 5? Thank you!
I would recommend starting from the beginning. It may seem "easy" for your kids, but they can move quickly along. They have to learn the basic concepts, as this curriculum build upon each level.
I have a 2nd grader and a kindergartner currently and I'm trying to decide what to do next year for my oldest! We do all abeka right now. Would you recommend starting IEW for 3rd grade or doing Abeka one more year and starting IEW in 4th?
I can't really say either way, I think it really depends on the child. I know IEW starts around grade 3. I started IEW in grade 4 and that worked well with my kiddos. I guess it just depends on which one you'd like to do and what is working with your child.
Thank you!!
@@mandy-maltz Mandy! My son is going into 4th in the fall…which program should he be using? When you started in 4th grade, was that your first year using it?
Can you clarify what you mean by “fix it grammar is a 6 year cycle”. Thank you!
There are 6 levels of Fix It, starting at level 1. Each one build upon the next. It's a fantastic way to teach grammar and we love the new books.
I went to their website, and there ir a Fix It! Grammar: Level 1 Nose Tree [Teacher/Student Combo] What do you think?
That's where most people start. We finished that one last year and love it. You can download the first month or so of it for free with my IEW link. It'll help you get a better idea of what's inside and if it'll work for you. Download it for free here: iew.com/MandyMaltz-welcome
@The Handmade Homeschooler - Mandy Maltz oh OK, thank you.
Too bad, I already bought the old version. Works great, though!
Next year you can get the update :)
Is this the only thing you need to use for English?
This program is only grammar. So you’d need the other language arts components to make the entire subject complete.
@@mandy-maltz that's one of the things that stresses me out just thinking about home schooling.....FIGURING OUT ALL OF THE CURRICULUM! As well as needing to be dedicated and organized. I always planned on home schooling. I was home schooled. I've discovered I am not as amazing as my mother.
@@sarahmiranda7130 you will do fine. Don’t underestimate yourself. Do some research, discover what type of learner your student(s) is. Take it step by step. There are so many people out here willing to help and offer suggestions and give guidance. 😊 You can do this! Draw inspiration from your mother, I’m sure you will make her proud!☺️
Is this a secular program?
When should we start teaching grammar as a subject? What grade?
