So, cool seeing Max go from, “I don’t hate it.” To “I can’t stop smiling!”
Hi-Fi Rush is INCREDIBLY fun. What a surprise. That game is sooooooo damn satisfying to play, characters are charming, the world is interesting, and overall it’s one of the best titles I’ve played on Gamepass. It’s very DMC like, and the rhythm aspect just sets it off. I’m having an absolute blast playing it.
it screams veutiful joe and im here for it especially with that scarf.
@@R9Josh What does the word "Veutiful" mean? Haven’t seen it before.
@mixednarwhal And this is where google comes in…
@@minedone1236 Yeah and it didn’t tell me anything so that’s why I’m asking
@@minedone1236 It literally doesn’t register it as a word so why don’t you tell me what your Google says it means?
Hi-Fi Rush came out of nowhere and honestly looks so fucking cool
lol looks like sunset overdrive which obviously was AAA
Sunset Overdrive, No More heroes and Viewtiful Joe all had a beautiful little baby
It’s a damn shame it’s exclusive to pc and Xbox. It reminds me a lot like jet set radio, I loved that game and I wish I could play Hi-Fi rush it looks like it’ll be a blast to play.
@@mattluna8016 You could pick up something like a Steam Deck or use a streaming service like Shadow. Don't have to be left out
@@mattluna8016 if you like Jet set radio, try to watch out for the upcoming Bomb rush cyberfunk
For anyone that is coming to this late, hifi rush is an insanely good time. It's a polished gem that reminds me of the good ol days and it was hard to put it down tonight.
I just downloaded it and am about to try it out. I’ve seen several people commenting about how fun it is
@@jeremyroberts8822 It's very good!
It looked fun actually, looked like an actually good xbox game lol. Seeing people hate on it during the reveal hurt because you could see the heart that went into making it.
@@grantgarbour It's that kind of game, that could get hate only from realism fanatics and overall hater andies, game is an amazing love letter from the past with modern graphics and innovative gameplay mechanics, with low price on top on that. Literally nobody sane have moral right to seriously hate this game.
@@grantgarbour don't worry about it, the chat in these directs hates everything, turn it off for a better experience
A hack and slash rhythm game is a combo I never thought I would see, and I’m all for it.
Wouldn't be the first time since NSR exists, but still cool to see a more polished version of it come out.
Remembers me Metal Hellsinger
@@merlinthestrange8543 So sad seeing everyone forget about NSR. Such a fun game.
And it works so well together! 🎶 👊
Hi-Fi Rush gives me PS2/Xbox/Gamecube vibes when devs just experimented with ideas. I’m all for it!
Don't forget the Dreamcast (Jet Grind Radio).
What an era that was.
Glad I caught this video. Hi-Fi Rush was an instant download for me and I had ZERO clue about it. The art style is really eye catching, as it looks nearly like a straight up cartoon but a video game. I wanna see more of it.
We need more "weird", "camp", and "charm" in AAA games
Max replaced Forspoken in a heartbeat for this game. Enough said.
Preach!
AAA games deal in blandness, not charm, unfortunately
Saw HiFi Rush and immediately bought it 3hrs after the launch trailer. Runs beautifully on Steam Deck at 60fps.
fr that's awesome... I'll definitely get it at some point for the deck
"buy" *laughs in game pass*
It’s perfect for steam deck. Just beat the first boss and so far it’s been one of the most enjoyable experiences on the deck so far. For $30 that’s a steal
@@dougtheghoul2845 I have gamepass and I still bought it. Deck is the shit.
@@WanderingNasionly idiot pay 30$ for that sit
So dont pay for that
Only xbox player support these kind of sit bro dont let xbox scam you demand better what you pay for
Minecraft Legends gameplay
Max: I sleep
Hears something about fulgore
Max: R E A L S H I T
the person on chat saying look glacius driving a car got more of a reaction than the other videos besides HI-FI
same
I'm sure I'll enjoy it with my nephew and nieces but if I don't see a ninja monk and the love child of Cyrax and a t800 beating the shit out of each other, then who gives a shit about all of this? Besides you and the Hi-fi enthusiasts of course
I like the concept of grabbing a rhythm game and fusing it with another genre. Crypt of the Necrodancer first, and now this Hi-Fi Rush. Wonder what other genres one could implement a rhythm mechanic on.
No Straight Roads tried to have a similar style of gameplay but really falls flat when it comes to the rhythm aspect.
There are also games like Metal: Hellsinger and BPM: Bullets Per Minute where they fuse FPS and music.
It feels like a more polished NSR, hopefully the gameplay is polished.
Metal Hellsinger is pretty cool
@@Mikedot NSR is you fighting a rhythm-synced performance.
Hi-Fi Rush officially the first Xbox game that actually came out without waiting for "next year."
@@hododod246 It's barely been more than a year since Forza 5. Pentiment was 2 months ago.
Seethe harder
-edit- I incorrectly said "You mean first next gen game."
GamerMickey has the correct info.
@@nrXic The first next gen game was Microsoft Flight Simulator.
@@acurisur Thanks for the correction, gonna edit my comment.
Hi-Fi Rush coming out at the heels of games like The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo is like the video game equivalent of Gainax coming out with FLCL and Gurren Lagann right after a series like Neon Genesis Evangalion in terms of style and tone, and that isn't a bad thing.
"I know what I'm doing tonight"
Yeah, glad to see Max had the same reaction. I bet he was happy to see that there was a streamer mode.
Forspoken was instantly forgotten.
They really put that "For" in the name for a reason💀
I’m 3 hours into Hi-Fi Rush and it’s already my first GOTY contender.
i mean we are only in January lol.
@@KingJadInfiniteHope And nothing came out yet lol
Lol it's January bro
I hope tango makes a Deadpool game
No
Hi-Fi is a spectacle for so many different reasons for starters it’s visually stunning, and it’s something completely different than what he devs are used to, it’s a Microsoft exclusive, and it’s also nothing like what Bethesda usually publishes
Looks really fun and creative, i love when a new weird game that doesn't follow trends gets announced. Compared with the Arkane Studios game this looks like a masterpiece, both is gameplay and visuals
They announced it and they ruined it, in the same presentation; that most be some kind of record
@@viniciuspedrosa2405 I wouldn't say it's unique they clearly took alot of pointers from sunset
@@jessehouse5466 yeah but sunset isn't even that popular, they took some inspiration from a old game at this point that people kinda forgot about. It's not inventing the wheel but it feels fresh enough, unlike the Arkane Studios one. Also the devs are out of their confort zone which is also cool
@@viniciuspedrosa2405 that is fair, it's nice when a studio isn't afraid to try something new.
Hi-Fi Rush has been a blast so far. I don't think the licensed music is a bad thing. It fits the rock star aesthetic well. Don't forget Guardians of the Galaxy's high paced moments were also backed by a lot of licensed music.
I also hope for more companies to just drop bangers of a game and then releases it right then and there. Not announcing a game and then wait for 5-7 years for it to come out.
EDIT: Very possible he meant not good for the licensed music in terms of streaming maybe, but there's a streamer mode that replaces it with original OSTs
I know nothing about this stuff but it’s probably bad for streamers if it uses licensed music right? And to some degree advertising
I'm glad licensed music is still within games. There's far more gamers than streamers. No need to remove it just because of twitch
oh it definitely is for streamers and content creators
@@oceandragoon3099 For streamers I can understand. It does have a Streamer Mode that replaces licensed music with original OSTs so that's good.
Hey how's the licensed music for GTA3 doing? I sure would love for Crazy Taxi to come back with all those licensed music! Man that fallout game is great, why can't they make that old-style radio come back for future fallouts? Those Guardians of the Galaxy music sure is a bop, why don't streamers play those songs on stream, I'm sure the musicians would love to hear people praising their work(also get royalties, but shh) Def Jam was a great game! I'm sure people would love to play it if it gets remastered!!
And other such cases....
Yo Hi-Fi Rush looks fucking amazing! It's animation and art style is super great! It's so damn stylish holy crap.
25:43 They thought they could just sneak in a JoJo Torture Dance and thought I wouldn't notice
The licensed music in hi-fi rush is boss only and there's a streamer mode. Source: It's out on gamepass already
Hi Fi Rush looks like the kind of game Jet Set Radio would look like
"Hi-fi Rush" has a "Scott Pilgrim" vibe
Max :"I don't hate it" 4 hours later while playing it "it's so good!"
25:43 The Mohawk guy is doing the Jojo torture dance. Cool!
wow man didn't notice that!! but i saw him doing the a jojo pose in somewhere in the video ahhaha i already like that guy
mmmmmm
Hi-Fi Rush is Sunset Overdrive, Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, and Viewtiful Joe all in one and I am LOVING it.
Haven't seen a shadow drop in a minute. Well done Hi-Fi rush!
You’re welcome!
Been playing HiFi Rush for a couple hours and so far it’s meeting all my expectations. It’s great. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a new flow/DMC/rhythm game.
Can't believe they dropped such a banger out of nowhere.
Agree it’s great so far
Hi Fi Rush is modern day Draglade, an action game where you can make your own beat combos. I loved Draglade.
Been thinking about getting Draglade. Would you recommend?
Man Draglade was ahead of its time. I spent hours making custom moves in that game.
during the entire Hi-Fi Rush segment all i could think was "this is just a reimagined No Straight Roads". it looks good, but holy crap are the parallels blindingly obvious.
So I wasn't the only one seeing that! I do hope it's not all licensed music, otherwise it might not give me the same feel as NSR. That soundtrack is amazing.
Too similar even down to the storyline. Taking down a huge corporation by fighting the bosses one by one.
@@TheFlyingChungus all bosses are also tied to a subgenre of a genre of music (EDM in NSR, Rock in HFR), the main characters are trying to be rock stars while taking down the oppressive company, one of the bosses is a person leading a robot boy band, the gameplay is a mixture of light platforming and a few minions leading up to a boss fight showcasing the music, the combat is largely based on timing with the background music to perform well. The list goes on.
I really feel like they saw NSR and decided they wanted to take a shot at reimagining it.
@@Mythda which is probably why I love hi-fi so much. Plus the incredible animation
@@Mythda holy shit never knew it was that close. But it seems like the NSR people is cool with it. Saw a tweet by them about this game
Oh, man am I loving Hi-Fi rush, what a breath of fresh air it is, just like when Sunset Overdrive was released. Love the cross between DMC and Jet Set Radio.
Wish they said "You need to have a _killer instinct_ to beat Hi-Fi Rush" or something like that.
Would've been a ton of gift subs for a lot of disappointment.
Hi fi rush reminded me of a time when games are ready to buy the moment you heard of it without the need to wait for YEARS and endless delay
Wanna tell me when that time was?
@@someoneelse9680 Not too long ago. During the 360 generation Bethesda would announce games that would appear within 6 months. That said, many of those games could have used extra time for bugfixes.
that blue cyborg evil guy in HI-FI RUSH was doing a part-2 JOJO pose and the torture dance xD
Part 5
25:43 NO WAY THATS THE “GANG TORTURE DANCE” FROM JOJO 💀💀💀
DoooD when I saw I had to double back to make sure
Hi-Fi Rush really caught my eye, scratches that Sunset Overdrive itch.
Hi Fi Rush has been so much fun so far. Great game and shadow drop!
Hi-fi rush has a streamer mode which plays custom music so you are good to stream it max🤟🏻
That’s such a nice thing the devs did
On the second level of hifi rn and its kind of addicting when you start getting down the combos and getting new ones
Love that the comments are all about hifi!!!!!! Even if it's not the best game ever, we need to buy/play it to try and get more of this stuff developed. I absolutely loved sunset overdrive, video games areeamr to be FUN and we have lost that.
Minecraft Legends actually looks like an amazing and unique RTS especially in a very (in my opinion) shallow genre. Pretty Hype.
that game is going to have an interesting comp scene
@@justinjohnston8923 For real. I want to dive in and see.
Hi fi rush stole the show, but you are right, mineceaft legends looks really cool, not a huge rts or minecraft fan but i want to give it a shot
@@viniciuspedrosa2405 That’s what makes Gamepass such a big money earner for MS. You can try a game before paying it full price
Immediately buying Hi-Fi Rush. Hope it gets a physical release too
Hi-Fi Rush looks awesome. Gets me even more hyped for Jamphibian, another rhythm based character action game
oh shit that looks cool
It's not a rhythm game, but the visuals remind me of a solo dev game called Genokids.
MS shadow dropping a GOTY contender was not on my bingo card.
it's called forza motorsport and starfield
This was just a Killer Instinct Hopium session for Max 😂
Not sure why max didn't assume there was a streamer option.
Hi Fi rush might actually be on of the games to make me want to get an xbox series x no cap
You can play it on your Xbox One if you have a good internet connection via Cloud streaming. That's how I'm playing it. If you don't have good internet then playing a rhythm game will be near impossible, though.
It's crazy that hifi rush's presentation and charm is grabbing people more than forspoken, a AAA game that has been in development for years lmao. This is what happens when you drop an ounce of passion and love into your game.
Not sure why you’re making this comparison but hifi looks amazing. Gonna play it soon.
@@xbree_ cause we’ve known about forspoken for years and even before it was out people felt like it was going to be generic and mediocre (which surprise surprise it is) and it’s trailers didn’t do it any favors
This game got one trailer that was basically a release trailer for a game a majority of people have never heard mention of and left more of an impression on people than like 10 of the forspoken trailers we’ve due to how interesting the concept was.
@Neominous Forsaken has a 68% on metacritic.
That's trash
Cope and seethe pony
@@meister4597 by that logic any game Starfield is gonna be trash. Makes no sense. Doesn’t matter if you get a shadow drop game or a build up. This is a weird logic.
LMAO some insecure xbots here. Forspoken was never hyped as a goty contender or be all end all game. It's merely another Sony exclusive and when you have as many as Playstation does, you can afford one or two duds every now and then. Every time Microsoft does one of these presentations I feel more and more grateful to have a PS5 lol. Still waiting for an xbox exclusive that will make me jealous It's not on Playstation. The last time that happened was Alan Wake and that was YEARS ago. Besides, we now have the remaster and the sequel will be on Playstation now that remedy is enjoying their freedom from Microsoft. Shit, even the switch can claim one title I admire in Bayonneta 3.
Wow hi fi rush actually looks really cool, its animation reminds me a tad bit of the dragon prince for example, bit more flare ofc with how things are animated but its cool, looks like a cartoon mixed in with the game. Definitely interested in it and looks like a game for me.
I been playing the game for a few hours and it's definitely fun. My best way to describe the game is its devil may cry, if devil may cry was a rythm game.
Yeah the Chai character reminded me a lot of that guy from Dragon Prince. I forgot his name but he had Sokka's actor
@@Ga1oThymos his name is callum
Hi-fi Rush looks like Sunset Overdrive meets brutal legend.
I surprised hi-fi came out today with no announcement or any trailers until the day of release that when you know you have faith in the game you created
The boldest possible move. It's gotta be worth something.
Makes me so much more interested in a game honestly it's weird
@@LulutheJester a power move like that just make you want to check it out
Hi-Fi Rush looks like a game that Platinum Games would make.
it's interesting you say that because one of the co-founders of Platinum is Shinji Mikami. :)
@@RuthwikRao. Which is why I said it. The game has that Platinum DNA on it.
Ok Hi-Fi rush looks good and all but am i crazy or is THAT 25:43 the torture dance ?
No, you're not crazy, Zanzo (one of the bosses of the game) does a Jojo pose every frame he's on screen, literally every frame
@@kue5053 sick
I'm really digging these kill/strike to the beat of the music games. Metal Hellsinger is another I really enjoyed last year. Not to mention, music style aside this game felt like I was grabbed back into the Ps2 era
19:24
This game gave me some Patapon flash backs.
I remember this one! Same dev as Loco Rocco?
Idk what it is... I get this safe feeling when I watch Max
Hi fi Rush reminds me of crypt of the necrodancer, No Straight Roads, and Sunset Overdrive all in one. I really like it
Hi-Fi Rush reminds me of a lost PS2 game with a hi res remaster (in a good way) like Cel Damage.
Been playing HiFi Rush all day, it rules so hard
Hi-Fi looks terribly like sunset overdrive. Looks very promising
Also saw glimpse of jojo bizzare adventure references which is amazing lol
Dooood Im glad I wasnt the only one that saw it
Hi-Fi looks like the Pixar version of No Straight Roads.
Shinji Mikami must have watched Baby Driver and fuckin LOVED it
Pretty much a standard Microsoft showcase. Just show some safe IPs and sprinkle in some gamepass games. I swear if it wasn't for gamepass the Xbox would go extinct from its lack of content. Show something surprising, stop playing it safe all the time. The Xbox since it's release still hasn't ever convinced me that the console was worth it.
Max eyes lit up when the fighting started
That Hi Fi rush game looks neat
Too bad it’s exclusive but it iz what it iz
@@mohamadou4695 it's on steam
Hi-Fi Rush we hereby bestow upon you among the greats.

We welcome you to join the greats among the likes of DMC, Metal Gear Rising and Guilty Gear Strive.
Keep up the good work max 🎉
17:51 no more heroes meets scott pilgrim
Hi Fi rush gives me so many Disney XD vibes
Redfall looks cool and Hi-Fi Rush got me excited, doesn't need to be a huge 4ss event to show off some cool things :)
I'm shocked Hi-Fi rushes song wasn't copyright at the start.
Forza looks crazy detailed and I’m interested in trying it. Hi-Fi Rush looks fun. Red Fall looks really awesome and I can’t wait!
Was i the only one that felt like like hi fi felt like jet set radio with the artsyle
Hi Fi rush looks like one of those kid movies that starts off with a record scratch into "Hi, you may be wondering how I got into this situation"
@25:43 IS THAT A GOD DAMN JOJO REFRENCE
to be fair, Phil Spencer has acknowledged the KI thirst that exists, I haven't heard Jim Ryan talk about Bloodborne at all.
I just came here to see if Maxx would go on a rant about BloodBorne or KI. Got my fix way quicker than I expected. He’s getting pretty good at this
so HiFi Rush seems like it teaches players about combo timing so maybe this can teach players about how fighting and action rpgs play out having a sound based system
I sincerely hope from the bottom of my heart that Hi-Fi Rush succeeds after Xbox let Sunset Overdrive die.
I missed when games were genuinely exciting with a new concept that isn't just the studio pushing the same game with a different coat of paint.
I don't have an Xbox or a PC so I definitely want people to play through it/stream it so it gets the recognition it deserves
Xbox didn't let Sunset Overdrive die. Sony killed it from getting any more sequels because they acquired Insomniac Games, the makers of Sunset Overdrive. Technically Insomniac owns the IP even though MS published it, so there's nothing that Xbox can do to make a sequel.
HI-FI Rush really reminds me of No Straight Roads
Xbox's crown jewel Killer Instinct is sure missed by Max during his reaction and we feel his pain.
I will say this though that Hi-Fi Rush games looks good it kind of reminds me of Devil May Cry meets No more heroes.
Can't believe Max didn't say Hifi Rush's graphics didn't remind him of Jet Set Radio. Edit: Ok he just uttered Jet Set Radio at 22:38 😂
HI-FI Rush is super fun!
I immediately downloaded the game yesterday and cleared the first stage on hard difficulty in 57 minutes.
"fulgore on a computer screen"
We are at a point where chat is mistaking new IPs for KI.
MAX their's a stream mode so it plays none licensed music!
They put the torture dance in that hi-fi rush game lol
I want a fighting game from this universe.
So max woke up during an earthquake in terror and instantly fell asleep?
Pretty much. When you live in a place that experiences earthquakes regularly, you kinda get used to it. I've been living in Japan for the past 11 years, and I've done the same thing many times.
So... Hi-Fi Rush is a game where you got the buttons on a certain rythm to keep the combo going...
...like an ULTRA COMBO?
When the hifi rush part came up, u can visibly see max just stop talking and was mesmerized by it
I bet Minecraft Legends PvP will have a ESPORTS scene bigger than OW
I like that Viewtiful Joe, jet set radio game… That’s it
It would be hilarious if Hi-Fi Rush ended up overshadowing the release of Forspoken.
So my question is : did he played it on stream ?
HiFi Rush looks cool, but I just want developers to either: A) stop assuming every gamer has “be a white male” in their wish fulfillment checklist or, B) always include an intrinsic Custom Character system (i.e. Sunset Overdrive, Destiny series, etc.). We’ve had WM protagonists in action/hack&slash games since they were a thing. More Forspoken and Beyond Good and Evil protagonists please.
I'm already instantly sold on Hi Fi Rush, looks so good
How does max not get sick of hearing “welcome back to the stage of history?”
everyone watchin Hifi Rush "Wow looks incredible, great animation"
Max "I don't absolutely hate it"
-_-
About Hi-Fi Rush, while using guitars as weapons are the most common thing, it is present in games, but I wish they made it more of a weapon that is a guitar than just a guitar used as a weapon. Like, putting blades or taser rods on it, or something.
Hi-Fi rush was definitely a shining star in this! Definitely going to play it!
I love how at least a third of the reaction was not about the presentation
