Max reacts to Nintendo latest Direct for June 2023, showcasing some of their upcoming games, like Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mario RPG Remake, and Detective Pikachu!

Speaking of Smash, with the Metal Gear collection coming to the Switch that makes Kazuya from Tekken the only third-party character without a game available on the console. I mean, Persona 5 had a spin-off and P5R was eventually ported, Banjo-Kazooie surprisingly got added to NSO, there's plenty of games available where Terry Bogard appears like the soon to be added KOF XIII and there's at least a KH rhythm game, but Namco hasn't bothered to make at least a port of Tag Tournament 2 which was on the WiiU
If Nintendo wants a company to do something for them, they will. They have no choice. The choice is obey, or die in the night from the Ninjas.

As someone who has never played Super Mario RPG but has heard such great things about it I'm hyped as hell to check it out. Also happy for the fans, seems like a fantastic remake thus far

Still looks a little odd but then again new transformation and its unique I mean we did have the cat suit and a giant cat suit among others but a elephant suit is an interesting idea

Genuinely happy they seem to be taking super Mario in new directions. And there's voice acting in the trailer/game it seems, really interested to see where this goes!
3D world had Rosalina so it makes sence Daisy is gonna be playable (about damn time)
Same i just wish Wario and Waluigi were playable as well, could be cool to have them as unlockables

I didn't realize how much I needed Daisy as a playable character in a Mario platformer. They should make her playable in that new, upcoming Peach game while they're at it! ✌️😎

Super Mario RPG took the cake… I’m so happy young kids get to play my favorite RPG growing up. That’s one game I really felt like it was an adventure.

To be fair, he is far from the only one to suspect that the entire Mario franchise began with someone sitting down on a massive drug high.
Because that is what this is... One massive trip. Sans the need for.... illicit drugs.
Video games isn't shy about having double entendres when it comes to drugs. Outside of Mario powering up on 'shrooms, the "healing herbs" in Resident Evils 1-5 looks like ganja and the Special Stages in the early Sonic games is like an LSD trip. And don't get me started on the "power pellets" Pac-Man be munching on.
The Mario RPG remake was such a pleasant surprise. Legitimately excited to play that again.
honestly this direct may have been my favorite show of the whole "not e3" season, some legitimate surprises that i'm really excited to play

Wait does anyone know if Max has ever played Super Mario RPG? It was my very first RPG ever. I remember seeing the commercial and thinking, OMG, a cool new mario game!!! I didn't know what RPG's were. So my parents bought it for me, and was shocked and confused at first because I was expecting a traditional Mario Game back in the 90s. Ended up LOVING IT and then what game came soon after? FINAL FANTASY 7. I saw that game being promoted everywhere and once I saw it was a Square Enix game, i thought.... i have to buy this. And I did, which started my whole LOVE for the Final Fantasy series back then. this direct was a 10/10 for me. So much to look forward to and so unexpected! Hope this means its a revival of the Super Mario RPG series and we can finally get a true sequel!

I came into watching the Direct late, the first thing I saw was Super Mario RPG.... I proceeded to fangirl for a solid two hours, as it is my third favorite RPG ever.
I can't WAIT to see the secret Final Fantasy boss in the Super Mario RPG remake. Culex was hard AF to beat and I can't imagine that they would nerf him or exclude him from the remake.
Some of the damage values looked higher in the in-game battles, so who knows...
From a Racoon Suit, to a Cat Suit, and now an Elephant

That Super Mario Wonder actually looks incredible. I can't wait to play that. The art style, the tripiness of it all. Another amazing entry into the series.
This direct escalated from Super Mario RPG all the way to Super Mario LSD. Seriously impressive.
Just to briefly explain, The Dark Prince isn't a spinoff Dragon Quest Monsters games. It's the 3rd one out of 8 so far in the 25 year long series that connects to a mainline DQ title, in this case Dragon Quest 4. The character you're playing as is known as Psaro The Manslayer in DQ4, and this story seems to be explaining events in his past to explain how he got that title, and some events during DQ4 as the final scene is the start of DQ4 where the green haired character named Solo lost his village to monsters under Psaro The Manslayer's control. To explain everything about it, is kinda complicated, but that's the basis of this game.
Man I've only ever played DQXI, wanted to test the other titles but I was hoping they'd get around to remaking them whenever the 2D-HD version of 3 drops because the DS titles are NOT cheap and the mobile versions... I mean I COULD play them but I'd prefer console. Ah well, if it's clear that Psaro is the villain in 4 I guess it could be kinda cool to see how he turns out that way, even if it is by playing a funny Pokemon spin off.
Also, are you saying there are really 8 Monsters games and they're all somehow connected to a canon DQ game, or am I just misunderstanding you?
@@goranisacson2502 don't think Enix and Armor Project will try to remake all of the DQ games anytime soon. I mean, there's the recent DQX offline version, but that's Japan only, there's been some rumors about a IX version for phones. I'd want Enix to make at least a remake of V and VIII, with V based on the PS2 remake which was in 3D as opposed to sprites

there is a secret boss in mario rpg from a final fantasy theme. with FF4 battle music, stumbling in that room blind was the best snes days of my life. im looking forward to seeing him again in HD

So hyped for Mario RPG. Thought that incredible game was completely forgotten by Nintendo, left to rot utbtil the end of time. In regards to the other Mario game I haven't played one in ages but it looks absolutely gorgeous.

You try asking for a game that's been in licensing hell between two companies that lost any sense of agreements due to the PS1 fiasco.
This is like trying to get DC and Marvel to do another collab. You know it may eventually happen, one day, probably after you're dead, so you're not going to hold your breath for it.
In case you didn't know: Square and Nintendo split ways HARD after FF7 went exclusively to PS1. FF7 was supposed to go to a Nintendo console, and that very console was taken by Sony (Nintendo had hired Sony to make CDs that can run off-of a jointly-made console, Sony wanted a majority of the royalties for disc sales for the console, Nintendo refused, Sony left and sold the console themselves [making their own version that didn't have the usual Nintendo limiters] and bought out exclusives [Square included] right under Nintendo's nose). Nintendo and Square had a fairly good relationship before that. But losing them [and others] to Sony made them quite bitter against Square - and Square, in turn, became quite bitter towards Nintendo for their harsh [arguably fair] treatment.
You ever wonder why no MAINLINE Final Fantasy game released on any Nintendo console BETWEEN the years of the Super Nintendo and the Switch (which still only got ports)? It's because of that exact event.
Now try again: Ask Nintendo to release a new Super Mario RPG during the N64, Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U years. Heck, ask Nintendo to put unique Super Mario RPG characters into their other games.
A game that's 50/50 owned by Square and Nintendo. Meaning they have to come to an agreement to who owns what, and who gets what in sales.
People tried. FOR OVER 20 YEARS.
So again. Try to ask for it. Try to even EXPECT this game to come out.
It’s more like it’s bc it’s partly owned by square enix since they developed it and they had a falling out since SE switched to making games for Sony starting with FF7

The combination of Mario RPG getting remastered and the futures redeemed dlc for XBC3 has given me a real hope of seeing a remaster of xenogears. Maybe even a completed one

I am absolutely buying the Arkham Trilogy. I’ve played them already, but the idea of being able to play them on the go is so freakin cool. I didn’t expect that. At all.
As a big Mario fan this was practically a perfect direct, long awaited 2D Mario that isn't NSMB, Mario RPG Remake, Princess Peach game, WarioWare MK8 DLC and Luigi's Mansion 2 Remake.
Let along other good looking games like unironically Pikmin, Sonic Superstars again, and Penny
NSMB was fine though. Was it the title? It cant be the gameplay. The graphics were fine. I just dont see what was wrong with it

@zedorian6547 The same graphical artstyle from as far back as 2006 eith the major difference being the new powerup introduced and maybe the 1st world biome I'm just happy to see them do someone completely new.

here's the thing about Nintendo: they may not be able to bring in the AAA titles every other console has, but there's always something to enjoy in what they can bring.
I associate AAA games with bad games. I don't remember seeing one I enjoyed. They're expensive to make but seem small and unimpressive because of their lack of imagination and fun.

Yes Max, So2 is the FF7 of the Star Ocean series. When I had a ps1 it was tied with ff7 for me as my favorite game on the console, and is still one of my favorite games of all time. If you're interested in sci-fi I definitely recommend checking it out, it's not exclusive to switch btw it's also coming out on ps5/4 & Steam too. Also, this is one of those games with optional party members, some of which are exclusive (or were, maybe?) to the character that you start with but you can always start a new save to play as the other main character and doing so gives you different point's of view.
MAN, I can't wait to see the Axem rangers in full HD! I wonder how the Forest maze theme is going to sound fully redone!

I almost had a heart attack when star ocean 2 came on screen and how good it looks like that game was my life when it came out my first rpg of its type

It's popular to watch Nintendo Directs. Even if you're not interested in any of their games - it's just something popular to talk about with others. It's like watching award shows... most people who watch them aren't really interested in who wins what, it's just interesting to talk about with others.

For example I think Mario RPG blows Paper Mario 1 out of the water. Mario RPG vs Paper Mario 2 on the other hand... that's more difficult, both have their good points and I consider them to be the two best Mario rpgs. But my opinions and yours are just that - opinions. Remember that.

one thing about nintendo directs i can dig, is ateast they show gameplay in a majority of their trailers! Even if there are things that dont gel with everyone its always gameplay which is much appreciated.

At first I was surprised that Mario RPG remake was going to be a thing considering the licensing issues with Square. However after Sora came to Smash Bros. I believe Nintendo can do almost anything at this point
This was one of the best Nintendo direct I have seen in a while. There were so many amazing titles. I m really excited for the next year and a half for Nintendo.
