the problem with this strat is that faster ships can go full send in NAV mode and escape because there you are limited by polaris top end speed and not the mantis
The issue is that lore-wise and practically anything big and pirate-focused shouldn't work in Stanton as it's a "safe" system. Anything like a Polaris tooling around would be like a mexican gang with access to a modern aegis warship without the US Navy noticing or sending a huge fleet to take it out with extreme prejudice. That's why places like Pyro exist..... "lawless" areas where this would be (technically) possible... provided there wasn't anything TOO useful there (or they'd patrol it like the Persian Gulf or North Sea) so "pirates" in lore and practically should only be found in far away, relatively low-value areas that are very hard to patrol. That's why in real life they only really worked when backed up by a legitimate power (English sailors attacking Spanish ships with a letter from the English Crown and they got support from the Royal Navy as an extension of English naval assets in a war) or way out of the normal paths that were patrolled like far flung parts of the oceans. The problem is that this isn't how romantic notions of "piracy" are sold in the game, where it's expected to be fast and easy to "gank" people and take their stuff with few to any consequences. Anywhere that was profitable for a corp or faction would also be patrolled, giving huge incentives to eliminate pirates with maximum prejudice... but if you have pirates in capital ships then that means it must escalate so you'll see Javelins all over Stanton to fight the pirates in Polaris ships. Also simply SEEING a ship with a "snare" device would be instant crime stat unless you could show you were a sanctioned gov't agent. There's just no legitimate reason to have that tech if you weren't using it for gov't business. That's how governments work.... Arming your ship to defend against pirates you an sell to authorities but gear to specifically attack, board ship and steal stuff.... nope. You would need to have a spotless reputation to be "allowed" to have a registered Polaris. If you're in a controlled system of course. In a system with no law at all... well do what you want.
Did anyone try the Damper while in hangar thing? I tried with an Antares and it said the Damper was on, but the effect wasn’t going - so I wasn’t sure if you can use it while behind the air shield/on-board.
Cute. Hopefully the Polaris does bring a few smaller friends to help it out as I'm sure a well timed self destruct on a c2 would likely cause some issues if it just decided to huh the Polaris in its blind spots. Big polaris is scary, if you fight on it's terms
So they should prevent the quantum interdiction and jamming form working unless the Mantis is outside a cap ships shield. And that's called balancing an MMO.
Pirates shouldn't be a thing. They should be banned on sight as the sub human bullies they are. Robbing people of their precious time is not going to grow the player base.
Doesn't work. Mantis can't do its thing once it goes under the air shield. Makes sense for it not to work. An active QED should play havoc with a starship's internal system. To do what it does has to involve some level of electromagnetism. Also, in the future, the Polaris will be a terrible ship for pirates. The upkeep costs will be huge. Pirates won't have nearly the same money as rich industry and security orgs will.
@Saf_Ibn_Sayyad_Bacon a ship nested safely in another ship.. also failed to mention the Polaris is slow.. 250 boosted, a random cargo ship 300 boosted, the Mantis is 236... Before being boosted
probably giving the game away buuuut if I get pulled out of QT SUPPRISE Polaris Polaris standoff who can fire a torp the quickest lol. I'm such an evil basted. 🤣🤣
Nice ship right now. but a size 5 turret being its main gun (biggest) compared to other ships...it's barely more fire power than a Starfarer Gamini. Better hope they don't come out with a meta that makes torps useless. Cause that is all that ship has going for it, and if that is the main reason to own that ship, I'd prefer Eclipses instead.
Its main guns, the front turret, uses two size 6 bespoke cannons. the size 5 turrets are the ones on the top sides, which both have 4 s5 cannons, followed by two side turrets with quad s3 repeaters. I forget what size the guns for the bottom turret are, but they're also quad. When it comes to turrets, it has firepower comparable to or greater than a Hammerhead. That's not including the torpedoes, which are its main draw, or the many many PDC's littering its hull, which are each s3 repeaters. It can be a fantastic gunship if crewed, and in my experience works better as one rather than just trying to ram torps down every crevice imaginable.
This hasnt worked since the 890, this was dreamed out when ppl knew the mantis fit in the 890. Kinda shady pitching an expensive purchase on a would-be OP setup

thats why i want a polaris, it being a mobile pirate base for me and two friends with a mantis and a fighter
You could do this in a 890 jump. Then CIG changed it so you couldn’t use the interdiction when it was within the 890. So this most likely will change.
0:26 if you manage to steal a Idris and land it in your hangar it'll persist In Your hangar on other servers Cpt_Foxyloxy tried it
Polaris become like WV car in Germany...evry1 have one ;)
So that’s “modules” cig was talking about

This doesnt work, the QED turns off once you get in the hanger.

pretty sure cig said the you cant dampen while in another ship
Haven't tried in the current patch yet but CIG did say that you wouldn't be able to use the damper if the hangar of another ship.
K, thanks for corroborating my findings.
yeah , try to fallow pirates with a polaris! That makes no sense!
Is the Polaris non-persistent, or does it require a constant guard?
Cute. Hopefully the Polaris does bring a few smaller friends to help it out as I'm sure a well timed self destruct on a c2 would likely cause some issues if it just decided to huh the Polaris in its blind spots.
Big polaris is scary, if you fight on it's terms
Do you even need the hanger doors to be open for interdiction? That seems super busted and hilarious.
Hasn't worked since the 890

It doesn't work, hasn't since it's been tried in the 890
If the vulture remains able to fit inside the Polaris, that's likely the use case I may have for it. I don't REALLY need torpedo boat, but...
is polaris in ptu or pu already?
Pirates shouldn't be a thing.

Pre-orders for the Polaris MR...starting now.
MR?
CIG does want this to work this way. Expect it to not last
What?
@Saf_Ibn_Sayyad_Bacon a ship nested safely in another ship.. also failed to mention the Polaris is slow.. 250 boosted, a random cargo ship 300 boosted, the Mantis is 236... Before being boosted
What are some upgrades for the polaris that you'd recommend?
Wait but pirates only use Drake. RSI is a good company, not like Drake. /s
3 Eclipse should easily take down a Polaris .
Nasty that is just plain nasty right there m8 😂😜

In order to best a pirate, think like a pirate! Dog leg, or out run it in NAV mode, it can't fire upon you if it can't catch you!
You little devil. ;)
you know it
The problem is you're PDC turrets will automatically d3stroy enemies before you can loot them, am I correct?
you can turn them off

This seems like an exploit that should be patched.
