On Wednesday, Taiwan experienced its most severe earthquake in at least 25 years, claiming the lives of seven individuals and leaving over 700 injured. Among the affected, 77 individuals found themselves trapped within tunnels and collapsed structures. Rescue efforts unfolded amidst the perilous scenes of tilted buildings in the mountainous and scarcely inhabited eastern county of Hualien. The quake, measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale, struck just offshore around 8 a.m., prompting dramatic rescues where ladders were employed to aid individuals in descending to safety. Television broadcasts captured the harrowing aftermath, illustrating the magnitude of the disaster.
I was worked before in Taiwan as factory worker.living in Taichung hsien,1999 sept.the same time almost 2am.when a powerful earthquake happened.about 7.5 or6?we are inside in the accomodation,before the earthquake starts.i was heard a louder sound like a dragon.you can feel like you are inside the box and shaking.thanks the Almighty God,we are safe.there were many building collapsed.

A good chunk of newer buildings are built to withstand earthquakes up to a certain magnitude if I recall correctly. Taiwan is used to them.

I was in school and suddenly an earthquake happened. We were gonna do a thing where we pay respect to those who’ve passed during the battle. I was in the 2nd floor. And I had my teacher and three other classmates in the classroom. I immediately hid under the table like they taught us. Then we evacuated. But several less shaky earthquakes after. We were sent home after a few earthquakes that happened bc our principal found a possible idk how to call it. Like avalanche looking thingy 2:12 like that.
And the worst part I didn’t even know. And I was the only student that lived close to the hills. I had another view friends that live there but I was the closes.
