Hello you 2. Looks like a very nice place. And your brave going off grid. Sarah wouldn't do off grid 🤣 love the pubs and your lovely wife getting tipsy 🥴. Think I need to video some as well. Thanks for sharing 👍 Paul and Sarah 😀

Hello both, thanks for watching & commenting - yes it was lovely, what we saw of it - will go again for longer next time - we find off grid is pretty much the same as on-grid as long as the Mrs uses her low wattage hair dryer & iron & 12v TV - we do find you can get better views if that's your thang - as you'll see in the next vlog.

That's why it's called Bunny Field.

Thanks for that. There is a LOT to see in Cambridge if you go back - the Round Church, the city centre colleges, the pubs, the Backs etc or take a walk along Sidgwick Road or West Road along to my old College, Selwyn (beautiful gardens and Old Court & College Chapel and because it's only a few minutes' walk away from the centre there will be no crowds and no charge for wandering around the College but pop into the Porters' Lodge to tell them you are there).
Off grid is fine. Just on our last day of a 9 night stay at a Temporary Holiday Site (THS) at Corbridge in Northumberland. £10 per night on a flat sports field with water taps and an Elsan point. No need for anything else with central heating, fridge, shower, oven/grill/hob, TV etc on board with BBQs and an awning up in case of bad weather. The 100W solar panel on the roof tops up the battery so no power issues and a couple of propane Calor Gas bottles for the fridge & heating. Off grid is fine. It's about FREEDOM... And cheaper.

@@CaravanningwiththeMrs - If you have time between Friday 22nd July and Sunday 14th August (this summer), Teesside DA of the Camping & Caravanning Club is running a THS at Beadnell on the Northumbrian coast. £10 per unit per night, on a site which is literally over the road from the sand dunes and the beach at Beadnell (a couple of miles south of Seahouses and maybe 4 south of Bamburgh with its wonderful castle, and only a short hop south takes you to Walkworth & Craster and a few miles inland takes you to Alnwick, with all those places have to offer).
Again, on our two fields we only offer a number of water taps, an Elsan point and waste wheelie-bins, with some social events if you want them in a marquee but, if you have a solar panel you will be fine for as long as you want. You only need to be a member of the C&C Club (£50 pa for me and my wife). Value for money includes weekend DA meets, THS stays and cheaper stays at Club sites if you prefer to go there.
Northumberland is much overlooked as people go up to Scotland (or return from there) but the scenery, the beaches, castles and market towns are magnificent.
No need to book at Beadnell. Just turn up. We've never had to turn anyone away so far, even last year when so many were getting out for the first time amidst the various "Lockdowns". Beadnell is a well-managed THS with good siting of vans around sensible "Access roads", safe for children, pets and older campers alike.
How do I know so much? I will be one of the stewards there.... Honestly, if I was offered the chance of crowded extended wait in a UK airport in order to fly away or to return, or even a hotel holiday in the UK, I'd always chose to go to Beadnell this summer despite the stewarding (though we take stewarding in turns on a rota apart from the rush of the first few days!) - though having bought a new caravan last month, with Central heating, centre washroom and end fixed bedroom so I know exactly who has used the facilities before me, certainly helps!
Do try a THS. They exist all over the country in different sites (coastal, inland, city or town sites) and at different dates throughout the spring/summer/autumn. Look in "Out and About" which comes with your club magazine, or online. You can stay for one night, a week or 3 weeks.
Would love to see you there if you make it....
