Yeah exactly why I do my best to follow the time limit the deep conditioner says on the body of the product. I really don't want to over do anything 😁😅
@@marilynpowell7050 it’s alway been there it’s just science. But most of us are misinformed when it comes to taking care of our hair or, we misuse certain practices. I’ve even heard some hairdressers say that you can leave a hair mask on overnight, which is so bad for the hair and scalp.
I was making the mistake of deep conditioning w/ a hooded steamer every 2 weeks. My hair felt so soft, but I would get knots up the shaft & constant splits. A beautician warned me 2 stop doing deep heat conditioning every 2 weeks. Instead, only do it 1x p/m. W/ the other wash days, just sit under a cap w/ conditioner for 20 mins w/o heat b/c your body temp will add heat. Now, I notice less knots & tangles.
Yeah I never do this, and it’s the same as using water too often on your hair. Opening and closing of the cuticles is just like over manipulating the hair. So of course leaving the cuticles open for too long (overnight) would have negative affects. If my hair feels dry, I just mist it with a spray bottle filled with warm water but still make sure some coconut oil is in my hair so that not too much water gets in and it’ll feel dry again afterwards.
Back in the day ...those of us who wore a jheri curl had to wear plastic caps every night...some ppl wore them in between during the day. Everybody that I knew who started out with short hair ended up growing long hair and had full edges....no issues ....just saying
That's right, I had a wet look with long hair! .. I now have natural hair, stuck at bra length and struggling. I was just about to go get a shower cap today - when I saw this! Lol ....
Okay, so what is the solution? People are so desperate to stop the dry and breaking hair that we're not sure what to do at this point. Thanks for pointing out what we shouldn't do, but what SHOULD we do to keep hair moistured? 🤔
1: When you shampoo, make sure you apply it to your hair strands during the second lather. Many people shampoo only the scalp and that can lead to build up. 2: Assuming your conditioning products work for your hair, make sure to incorporate some protein until you see less breakage. Aphogee 2 Minute is great. 3: After conditioning, seal wet or damp hair from root to tip. Blue Magic or Vaseline are the best. But castor oil may be enough for some ladies. Don't be heavy with these! 4: Style your hair and leave it alone for 4 - 7 days at a time. Then dampen hair, apply some leave-in, seal with grease, restyle if needed and leave your hair again until it's time to shampoo. Avoid wash and gos! 5: If these tips don't work, go and have blood work done.

Is this only for overnight? I realized this a while ago I never new why I just stopped overnight everything. I only use a shower cap with your real protein treatment.
yeah, just don't do this overnight. You just need to lower how often/how long you do this. 15/30minutes-1hr is how long u should do this for no matter ur hair type

I’ve only done this twice my whole life one when I was smaller and one right now I’m doing it for 2-3 hours if that good or bad??? (I’m not adding heat or anything like a blow dryer )

Me watching this with a shower cap on my head😅
I don't know where all this new info coming from...

You are so right!!!😅
Exactly. That's why it's odd when people say not to wear plastic caps.

My hair grows more with a cap, Iam high porosity so locking in that moisture 3xs a week helps.

True ..
right I'm so confused

So how many times should we do a greenhouse method in a month?
I want to know as well 🤔
Same here. Someone pls like this comment when she answers so that I can come back to read the reply. Thanks

@@deniseoates7147Thank you for sharing the steps because I was clueless.
So why dont you give instruction on frequency and length of time to do a 'greenhouse ' type conditioner?
Is this also true using an oil (such as amla or fenugreek) instead of a conditioner?
You really got me with that title lmao. I was scared that a showering with a shower cap on was damaging my hair somehow.
Would this be considered hygral fatigue?
Is there going to be a part Two or video elaborating on this, because I have so many questions.

Can we use heating cap for hair plzz reply ❤
Everything is not for everyone, this dont apply to everyone do what you feel is righy for your hair not someone else
I think I did that too myself. Well i only deep condition 30 min. Is that still bad?
I have low porosity hair very low so every week or every other week works perfect for me
I wonder if that's what has happened to my hair. I moisturize yesterday and last night it was so dry😢.
Thank you for sharing short and very informative videos.
I’ve only done this twice my whole life one when I was smaller and one right now I’m doing it for 2-3 hours if that good or bad???
(I’m not adding heat or anything like a blow dryer )
Does that also apply to satin bonnets
Are you caucasian?
i do this with onion juice once a month
So it’s the GHE method that’s damaging and not shower caps…the title is misleading.
Good to know💚💚
Makes sense! Thank you😊
Ok we need shower cap over then cotton thing hell. I’ll use cotton cap over the hair mask so don’t drip
This advice is for low porosity
Actually the green house method is even more damaging for high porosity hair types
Gratitude🪷
