Great and detailed overview. Would love to see the iot video when you have time!
Good to have IOT Tutorial from you, thanks 🙏🏽
Hopefully soon! I think many will find this useful.
Just grabbed this router myself, been playing around with it for hours! Thought, I bet someone made a video on this epic router. BAM! Here you are. Haha.
Your video provided a lot of knowledge.
Do the site-to-site configuration please!
Glad I could help! 😀 Let me see what I can do
Great video and very helpful. I am trying to install a new RT6600ax today and am having trouble with the ioT network. I could really use your help. Would love a video helping us through it! Thanks again.
It's great video, I would love to have separate video mainly for VPN setup on this router.
Working on it!
Would look forward settings tutorial for IoT (and other at risk devices). Especially how to access on IoT device from a mobile phone that controls it while limiting the risks to other devices on the network that do not need to interact with it. Not sure if need be firewal based or VLAN based.
Finally, Speed test's from multiple locations.
😀
Is there a chance you can make a step by step guide how to set up proper, secure, separate network for IoT devices please? Or direct to such guide if already exists? Thanks.
Would assume they have an update to the MR2200ac coming later this year. Was considering this RT6600ax plus 2x MR2200ac (via wired backhaul) to cover approx 250 sqm (~2700 sq ft) of space.
Yep the update for the MR2200ac is coming later this year
Great video! Wish you can make a video of OpenVPN 😉
I will try!
Can you configure traffic control for a VLAN and/or a port?
I would like to see an IOT and VPN setup video
definitely would love to see how to set the IoT network 👍🏻👍🏻
Coming soon!
Thanks for the review of the RT6600ax Router. I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time so I can dump my Orbi.
I would love to see a video on how to isolate both wired and wireless IoT devices (wireless smart devices & wired hubs) from my wired and wireless compute devices (wired PC’s/Servers/NAS’s and wireless Laptops and Phones).
Also, when migrating from my existing router to the Synology I plan to just give the router the same SSID that I currently have, thus all devices will attach as expected. Can I then create a new SSID for the IoT devices and just move them from to the new SSID on the router or will I have to basically attach each of my 100+ device from their apps ass if I were installing them the first time?
Sure. I was planning on putting an IOT Network video together anyway. When migrating, if you use the same ssid and password they should just reconnect to the network, but you might find some devices that dont. If you are wanting to change the SSID then youll have to re join them to the network.
@@InsideWire Thank you! Then I suppose the wise thing to do is use the same SSID when migrating and then do the opposite, create a network for the compute devices because there are less and easier to connect to the new SSID. Then I’ll just change the settings of the original network the IoT devices are on to isolate them. Does this would like a better strategy? Thanks again! 😁
Yes this would probably be a better option. Good luck!
Thank you for the review! Does this have VPN policies where specific ip addresses only use a VPN, and if the VPN link is down, the traffic is blocked? Basically a VPN kill switch.
I dont believe there is but ill check and come back to you.
i have to say this. i am confused. aren't those actual ports as in with ethernet cables connected or are these vlan's. i setup vlans with my synology nas but unable to connect over mobile network. i am really confused. maybe i am not understand ing something
What is the max range an max amount of devices the router can support?
Hello... I have a concern about making ipv6 work on this router... I mention that the ISP assigned me a native address (the connection is made via PPPoE).... I tried all the options to make it work and I didn't succeed, but I still succeeded with 6to4, which doesn't delight me. Is there any option to go in Native mode or is it a system problem? Thank you in advance.
Hey Man, Would love to see a dedicated video on dual WAN and policy based routing. Like routing all UA-cam traffic to WAN1 and Netflix to WAN2. Also, Can this function as a Plex server?
Sure let me see if i can put something together. You cant run this as a plex server, the application is not available to be installed.
@@InsideWire thank you! The previous version had Plex server support, right?
Hey. Can you create a firewall rulles set video, please, for main network connection. Thnx in advance!
Hopefully soon
Would also love a demonstration of site to site VPN.
Would be great to see the. VPNs
Please do a Asus rt-ax86u vs Synology rt6600ax comparison review.
I would happily do one of these reviews, but i dont have a Asus rt-ax86u. I will try and source one to see if i can do a review. Even better is Asus could send me one. 🙌
hello super youtube video.
I'm just curious what you would choose.
UDM or Synology router?
and can unifi controller run together with Synology router ?
so synology router with different networks that are also available via UniFi controller.
I still have several access points from unifi
You can use a different gateway but to get the best seemless experience i would use one eco system. I have a video coming soon on the comparison between these two eco systems.
@@InsideWire great. I going to wait on the video
insidewire or anyone, i have 2600, does it do NAS like this 6600 does NAS? that's what i really need , so i was wondering if it was worth the upgrade for that feature alone, if both do same, then i'm not sure, thx
IOT video setup and WIFI/Vlan config and VPN would be great if you do here.
Its coming soon.. Make sure you Sub and hit the bell :)
Were is the update video??
Thanks for this. So, has Threat Prevention been removed? That's a shame if so...
I don’t believe it has but I will check it and come back to you. 🙏🏽
@@InsideWire I think it's still there from what I've seen in some other reviews.
Good to know 🙌
rt6600ax I have this Router Cannot make Site to Site VPN Work have you tried yet ? Can we talk offline. Everything else works just fine
You can contact me through my socials. Theres an email address on the about page of the channel.
How to set VPN please help
Im sure I can do this 👌
Can you please IOT firewall and vpn please
Its coming soon.. Make sure you Sub and hit the bell :)
turn off smart contract and it will fix the speeds
The Synology RT6600AX router has serious issue with large data transfer. Basically, no one should buy this router if they are running a media server (e.g. Plex) and got large media files of 2GB to above.
