A Timeless classic, Somos Novios, written with English Lyrics as 'It's Impossible'! All About Shirley TV Special. Shirley recorded and released this song on her 1971 LP titled, 'Shirley Bassey - Something Else'
"Somos Novios (It's Impossible)" is a song written by the premier Mexican bolero composer Armando Manzanero. The song was translated into English by Sid Wayne and first recorded by Perry Como in 1970. It is one of the most popular boleros of all time, recorded by Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Andy Williams, reggae legend Dennis Brown on a Studio One Album. Tejano group Mazz recorded this as part of a meledy entitled "Canciones De Amor" which was on the album "Para Nuestra Gente". Younger generation artist, Clay Aiken recorded this song on his 2010 album Tried and True.
    LYRICS:
    It's impossible
Tell the sun to leave the sky
    It's just impossible
    It's impossible
Ask a baby not to cry
    It's just impossible
    Can I hold you
    Closer to me
    And not feel you
    Going through me
    Split the second
That I never think of you
    Oh how impossible
    Can the ocean
Keep from rushing to the shore
    It's just impossible
    If I hold you
Could I ever want for more
    It's just impossible
    And tomorrow
Should you ask me for the world
    Somehow I'd get it
I would sell my very soul
    And not regret it
For to live without your love
    Is just impossible
    Can the ocean
Keep from rushing to the shore
    It's just impossible
    If I hold you
Could I ever want for more
    It's just impossible
    And tomorrow
Should you ask me for the world
    Somehow I'd get it
I would sell my very soulAnd not regret it
For to live without your love
    Is just impossible
    It's impossible
    It's impossible
    It's impossible
    ABOUT the LP, 'Something Else':
Following-up her comeback album Something, this proved to be almost as big when it too made the UK top 10, peaking at No.7. The album contained the hit single "(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" as well as a non-charting second release "Breakfast in Bed". The success of this album and Shirley Bassey in general at this period saw a rush of compilations and older albums entering the UK charts in late 1971, with five albums appearing over the space of three months. In 1972, Bassey was the subject of This is Your Life where guest Liberace made mention of this album and in particular "Excuse Me".

How could anyone not love Shirley Bassey? She is beautiful, and has a voice that can make you cry. Just watching her is almost hypnotic. What a beautiful & elegant performance.
Dame Shirley Bassey is truly a rare jewel and a global treasure.
