Just excellent!Beyond compare! I once worked above a defect like that. The movement of the trunk after removing all the brush was suspiciously “hinged” right at the defect…no rot or deterioration externally visible…Pondy as well…when I felled the snag…it broke right at defect after hitting ground flat…something I put in my memory banks…I grew up rock climbing and mountaineering…Yosemite big wall as well…redundancy safes your life…you may move a little slower…but life is precious…your prudence will prove priceless….

Another great vid from the MonkeyBeaver crew ! always keep in mind how much work the groundies are doing , As an owner-operator that climbs and rides we try to be kind to the ground crew , I've seen many climbers who haven't been running ropes and often burry them , and don't want to help clean up , they don't work for me long . LOL TheTreeGuy

I look forward to the day when we can boast 3 solid climbers. In this case solid would be an understatement. I think when you elevate yourself to a high caliber tree guy/business owner the types of employees you attract tend to be of a higher caliber as well. And that is no doubt what we are seeing here. It's a great operation you have. I do love how you always take on the trickiest/sketchiest trees yourself though. The old bull is still on top 💪

Loved the video. I have a question for you August if you wouldn't mind answering. I'd like to get back into climbing and cutting in the future. I have a few years experience and know the ropes and have been pretty creative with rigging. Creative problem solving is on of my strong suits. Anyway, I want to get back into it and I'd like to know if you have any suggestions for a climbing and rigging kit. Is there anything out there that? Something that comes with with saddle or climbing harness, climbing spikes (spurs), flip line, rigging and climbing ropes along with the assorted hardware and tackle to get a tree rigged and climb and drop it safely? I currently work at a restaurant (first time in my 18 years of being employed) after I got sick with pneumonia and influenza a couple years ago, long hospital stay and icu. O had to find something easier on me until I fully recovered. I make around 400 dollars a week and I can't just go out and buy top notch items, piece by piece and put together a nice collection. Is there such a kit with the essentials? I'm thinking about selling some of my milwaukee tools to help pay for it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Watching you in that tree after the top went down gave me a feeling of such excitement my stomach was turning. I miss tree work. Listening to the chipper work and them wind down. I felt like I was actually there in the tree with you. It's hard work but so rewarding and works the mind and body. I dread going into this restaurant 6 days a week for not even 40 hours a week. It's just not what I'm cut out to do. But I get ready and go everyday, early, and do what I'm supposed to do and more the best I can. I need to use my head and body. Have a good one and stay well. Brands aren’t so important. Look for used items when it comes to gear if money is an issue. Keep your eyes peeled for a side job and take it one job at a time. Don’t quit the day job until you make more in a day than you do in a week at the restaurant job.

@@AugustHunicke Hey I just watched a video of you speaking on a UCG video that randomly came up in my feed. I had no idea you where a servent of the Lord to that extent or such a great speaker. I could listen to you talk about God for hours. I find myself feeling desolate quick often. Not necessarily in relation to God or my prayers but, sometimes I do, and I find myself doubting what the Lord has given me. I'm in such a terrible position in life, relative of course, and sometimes I ask God why or pray and ask for things I know I should never ask God for. I usually catch myself immediately and ask him for forgiveness or a bit there after and I stop what I'm doing and pray and tell him I am sorry for asking or doubting his plan for me. That was a great talk though. I pray before bed, shortly in the morning and at some point in the 12 o'clock noon hour. I was just about to pray for the night and I saw your name and face and the seal of UCG. While I'm not necessarily of any particular denomination, I have a strong tie with God and his son Jesus. The Roman Catholic church we grew up going to wanted nothing to do with us when we couldn't afford to give them the money my parents used to give them. Then the Fathers at both our home church and the church at the Catholic school we went to were brought up on child abuse abuse. That is a subject I really don't want to get too far into on a public chat. I got a little side tracked there and I apologize. Mostly I wanted to say that was an excellent teaching and very relevant to what I'm feeling and thinking as of late. Thank you for your wonderful words and for the time you took to put them together. I could have easily listened to the 20 points you had mentioned, hours into the night but then I would be tired at work tomorrow. I feel terrible having to work on Sundays and not devote the time to family and God. I miss having Sunday breakfasts and dinner every night with them. Thank you again August. I think you like climbing trees because of the sway you get when you top the tree. You have more fun with the sway than you would have on a roller coaster. lol I understand the sway. I have been up in a tree. The first time I tried to climb at tree using spikes between 20-30ft up I felt the spike going into the tree very easy and without resistance. I tried 2-3 more steps and the spikes were going in to easy. I decided not to climb the tree and got down. I ended up cutting the tree from the ground. The homeowner was scared about felling a 40-50 ft tree. I was confident that I had enough room to drop it where I wanted to drop it as long as I made my wedge cut where I wanted it. I even used a stick to determine where the top was going to land. After my wedge cut, I made my back cut and the tree fell over. The top of the tree landed within 6" of the rock that I put where I said the tree would fall. The homeowner was impressed. Thank you for what you do.
Also I forgot to say when I did drop the tree the bark was falling off when it hit the ground and it was soaking wet on the inside and the tree was completely rotted. So I made a good decision by aborting the climb. Have a good night.
This crew all have 5 big nuts. They leave 2 with the misses, and the three left hanging they have to tuck the middle one back before they zip up the britches. Lol. Love you guys bsafe.... P.S.. keep the videos a bit long so I and others can learn more.
If the other tree wasn't coming down do you still think you would of used it, or would you of just ignored the defect & continued as usual? I've noticed that the job requirements often dictate how I'm going to do the job, & what methods/techniques I will use too. #SometimesItsJustMentToBe Stay Safe

Harness and spurs and lowering devices, that sort of thing. Buy ropes new.
