At our first house the drain was constantly backing up. It's the worst! It was a tree root problem. Used Austin Drain, not sure if they are still around.My dad had the same problem with his house, he rigged some kind of bell that was triggered by a floater in the drain. It was his own invention. It would go off before too much of a mess could happen.

Nate, for the sewer issue, I would see if you need to have a roto-rooter type company come in and use this machine in your water line to make sure there’s no tree roots growing into your line!!!! That is what happens in our neighbourhood with the big trees!

a slinky over the pole will stop the squirrels. with that said, my $ is always on the squirrels. they are genius!

I second this, my parents did put a slinky on theirs too and I believe it helped stop the squirrels.

Haven't been successful finding a way to remove them unfortunately, but I do have something I'm going to try soon.
