      Thanks for getting touch - yeah, sound wasn't great back then but neither was my budget, pleased to say Santa brought my a new Mic last Christmas so sound has improved massively

    Thanks, I've been thru a few of these and although this doesn't cover everything, some of your other videos fill in the gaps. This should get people going fairly well. I left the hobby for a few decades so for me, it's just relearning the controls and technology and applying that to what I think I already know I want to do. This camera is like learning to fly the space shuttle at first glance, but broken down, it's not too bad, and if you want to go have fun with your new camera, you can always use auto in a pinch and take some nice snapshots. That's what I did the first few trips to the zoo with some nice primes. But it really gets powerful when you start using the manual and semi auto modes. Databyter

      Totally agree - shooting manual open's up a whole new world and really lets you control the light in your image and get creative - thanks for watching and commenting, reall appreciate it

    So, do you have a tut on how to use the z7ii... how to shoot with it and the U1, U2 and U3 parts.

    • @fotohowtouk
      @fotohowtouk  2 роки тому

      Hi Anne thank you watching :) OK, I will be putting together some videos on how to use the Z7ii shooting different genres of photography - is there anything specific you enjoy shooting. The U1, U2 and U3 functions I don;t use at all, I will mainly shoot with the dial on M for Manual then controi the Aperture and Shutter speed depending on what I am shooting. You can use S (Shutter Priority) for shooting anything that is moving e.g. action shot or A (Aperture Priority) for anything that is static e.g, a building, landscape etc.

      @@fotohowtouk Thanks so much for your long answer. I really appreciate it. I do not understand the customize i genre. I just don’t get it. I mostly shoot families and my favorite is shooting equine photography. I hope this Z7ii will be able to accomplish following the horses eyes because if not I am going to be extremely disappointed. Anything you can show on how to actually use the camera would be great! How do you control the metering with the front or back dials or is it different for mirrorless? I’m a newbie here on mirrorless so I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks again

      @@annebrooks5940 Ok, first thing is don't panic. I have shot fast moving cars, birds of prey, dogs etc. using the Z7ii. I will try and put together a video showing camera settings and shooting techniques when shooting an animal (with the camera)

      Thank you so very much! You’re the first person who seems to really care about the technical parts of helping people get going on mirrorless cameras. I really appreciate all your help. I look forward to seeing your tutorials.

      One question... I can't adjust the light metering on aperture or shutter priority. Is auto ISO related to that ability? I used to be able to change it on my d750. I'm lost on that point. Thank you!

    • @annebrooks5940
      @annebrooks5940 2 роки тому

      I can adjust it on manual but not the other two.

    • @fotohowtouk
      @fotohowtouk  2 роки тому

      @@annebrooks5940 OK I have just double checked on my camera and its the same. It appears you can only adjust the Aperture when your are in Aperture Priority and Shutter when in shutter priority, it automatically goes into Auto ISO. I run a small camera club and everyone is encouraged to use Manual all the time, this way you will learn quickly to control the light, shutter and aperture. To keep this simple, switch your camera into manual, then go into your menu and select the photo menu, scroll down to ISO Sensitivity Settings and turn Auto ISO Off. OK, I will now give you two options to work with depending on what you are shooting and this is based on you being outside in normal daylight. OK, if you are shooting something that is moving set your aperture around F5.6, next you want your shutter speed to be a minimum of 1/250sec, if you shooting something moving fast then go for 1000-2000/sec. Then finally adjust your ISO so that the exposure is just under exposed (below the zero). Then just make sure your focus box is on your subject and fire away. The other option is if you are shooting something that is not moving e.g. landscape shot first set your apeture to F8, then your shutter speed around 1.250sec, then finally adjust your ISO so that it is slightly underexposed just below the zero (this way you wil retain any bright highlight areas such as clouds). Hope this helps - please ask if you need more help
