Hi there, new subscriber here! Just discovered your channel and have been binging your videos. I'm a grad student currently working towards the end of my studies and I remember my time as an exchange student in Beijing as the best months in my life. Now as the end of my studies drawing closer and I feel like I'll be stuck in an industry and job that I do not feel excited about, anxiety just crashes over me. Discovering your videos has really helped me though. There is a certain melancholy and comfort in your vids, that make me feel less lonely, so thank you for posting!
Thank you for share your story Jenny 😭 I feel you!! I'm very much still stuck in an industry I'm not passionate about myself...but, if there's one thing I've learned from the past few not-so-happy years, that is you have every right to pursuit your happiness unapologetically, and you have it in you to make your passion a livelihood - I believe in you! And trust me, everything will be alright:)
I am going to Beijing for an exchange semester next week and waahh i am binging your videos because they are so heartwarming and show a totally different side of Beijing that I have never seen before! I am excited for your adventures in Guangzhou, but I will first binge alllll your beijing content
Hey Evelyn, another great video of Beijing👍 I am truly amazed by your ability of capturing the soul of this city. Anyone can have a great camera and fancy drone shots but to be able to capture the mood and provoke emotional connection through your script, that is the next level skill! Never stop making videos girl! I be here rooting for your UA-cam success!
Evelyn, I've been obsessively watching your videos for a couple of days now! Your whole vibe is just so relatable and heart-warming. I can't thank you enough for the content and thoughts you're sharing 😍
Love this! Having lived 7 years in Beijing (originally from Chicago), watching this gives me all kinds of nostalgia ♥♥♥ I love that School Bar is still there!!!
hi evelyn! i’ve been watching your videos for a while now and i want to let you know that they’re so awesome! i look forward to your lovely uploads and your videos/dialogues provide me much needed moments of peace. i definitely believe that you’re my favorite youtuber :,)
My roommate/best friend in uni was Chinese and our time together was cut short due to Covid (she went back in China and I am based in India). Watching your videos feels like an insight in her daily life, thank you for posting 💕
Thank you! I'm so sorry to hear your best friend had to go back:( COVID changed all our lives in one way or another...I really hope both you and your friend are happy where you are now - sending lots of love💕
the peaceful mornings! i relate to that so much! i became a morning person from a young age, because I knew once my family woke up, I would lose that quiet moment. I'm glad to see that calmness still exists in a macro-perspective in a big city like Beijing!
I always feel the most free in the mornings, and feel like I can do anything☀️ It's crazy that in a mega city like Beijing it's not a particular place but a point in time that you can find calmness...Cheers, and hope you enjoy your mornings wherever you are:)
What a creative vlog :) Love the editing (as usual) - I'm in LA and i 100% feel you on liking the slowed down edition of big city life in the early mornings.
i miss the hutongs so much :( my au pair agency had a kindergarten in the hutongs around 张自忠路 and i went there everyday to help out a bit and meet with the mom and boy of the family i was staying with. I wish i would have had more time to independently explore the city, im sure I would have enjoyed it more. love seeing your perspective and you have such a nice way to edit your videos. thank you for your effort and sharing your videos with us!! 😊
Aww this has me feeling nostalgic. I lived in Beijing in the 90s as a kid before moving to the US. I still miss it but also know it's not the same city that I have in my childhood memories anymore :'( Thanks for showing us around and love the local perspective!
Yesss! They have a few locations in Beijing and the one I went to was the biggest (I think!) there's also a pretty one in wudaoying hutong if you happen to be around!
This video was so beautiful Evelyn! I was in Beijing for a couple of months in 2018 and I’m sooooo pissed not to have seen any of the little cafes and bars you pointed out - definitely need more content on these intimate little spots that you would almost have to be a local to know about 🙏 Looking forward to more vlogs that I can live vicariously through until China’s borders are open again ✌️🌷
This is so cool! It's making me miss Beijing a bit:)) I know it's a bit trendy to go to 南鑼鼓巷, but if u haven't yet, the 菊兒人家 滷肉飯 is totally worth checking out (they have a vegetarian/vegan option also).
Hi there, I’ll be moving to Beij in a few weeks. I love your content, so well edited and curated. By the way, I never comment on UA-cam videos, this is my first time. You’re doing awesome 👏
I really enjoy your updates and glad I found your channel. My daughter is majoring in INternational Affairs and Chinese and is supposed to study in Shanghai in the spring (fingers crossed)...she is also going to attempt grad school in China (#1 reach school is Tsinghua) with plans to work in China for about 8-10 years after graduation, so this is fantastic information.
I'm so glad to hear your daughter is interested in International Relations and China in particular! She might have heard of this already, but her interests seem to be a great fit for a fully funded Master's program at Tsinghua called Schwarzman Scholars - www.schwarzmanscholars.org/ Sending my love and best wishes to you both!
Hahaa if you don't have friends you can always pretend that you're reading a book! :-) An introvert said. How about saying Hi to a total stranger, and start a conversation ... :-)
A very good insights of what’s happening in Beijing / China now is so safe and moving around freely. How I wish I can travel back there again especially Beijing & Shanghai 😞 Due to current pandemic situation it’s getting worst over here, just couldn’t travel to China for now. Sigh ! Thank you for sharing all this videos around Evelyn and keep it up ! Wish you able to achieve something new in your new career at Beijing 💪 Will watch move new videos from you ! 加油!🤗
your video was very soothing ! it made me miss those fleeting moments of my childhood. I won't get an opportunity to go back to Beijing until I graduate (from high school haha - your viewers are diverse!), and I miss it a lot. . . ₍ᐢ ̥ ̞ ̥ᐢ₎ I see moving to Beijing as an opportunity to start over too, but that's something for the distant future. I take all your videos as an inspiration and an opportunity to learn about the things that are beyond me at the moment ♡
The Hutongs in Beijing do leave an unforgettable experience
