I never used in extreme heat or anything above 90 degrees F. My guess is that it would be for more light duty use. It works best when the beverages or food contents are already pre chilled. It works fine for me on weekend trips.

Their other limitation is that they claim to cool no more than 30 to 40 degrees lower than ambient temperature. Keeping it in your vehicle when parked on a hot day ruins the effective cooling temperature, unlike a refrigerator.
I agree. The thermoelectric cooler is only ideal under the right conditions. A portable fridge, such a Dometic, is much more versatile but also much more expensive. I paid 63.97 for the thermoelectric cooler and it has served it’s purpose, especially for that price.
I have the 28 qt one. I test with a remote themometer with the transmitter inside the cooler. It's been a while since I tested the 28 but I just picked up a used Kool-Mate 40 for $8. It was missing the cord and needed a good cleaning but I had a extra cord. After cleaning the dead bugs out of the fan housing, testing in a 74 degree house, my empty 40 qt took 3 hours to get down to 37 degrees. I put about 9 warm water bottles in it and it cooled slower. Just left it run, it''s been like 30 hours, the water bottles are chilled and it's down to 33.7 degrees. This was just a test to see if it works. I know you're supposed to put pre chilled things in it. I lost my data from the 28 but I think the 28 cooled a little quicker.
i was wondering how it would be in a vehicle...i keep a cooler in my truck during the summer....it would be off overnight...then i'd turn it back on during the day....i could use a freezer pack to help it start in the mornings...i'm getting tired of freezing bottles for ice every night before work...
It is a very subtle air that is blowing down from the top of the cooler. Unfortunately, I did not measure the breeze coming out of the fan. All I know is it cools as seen in the video. It’s still working great. Thanks for watching!

If I'm running it all day long in Florida Summer, and i turn it off around 11pm (75F outside) and back on 6am I want to know if Mayo, Almond Milk, Cheese and left over cooked food will be okay the next day?
My guess is that it would not be good for this. It is primarily meant to be a cooler that is plugged in to do a good job. You could put cold packs to help but that would be mostly the same as using a regular cooler. Most of my experience with this cooler has been with it plugged in. I think it would warm up pretty quickly in florida heat.
They're stupid. They use a ton of juice, slow to cool, fast to warm and you can't use ice as a back up. Get a fridge and save yourself tremendous hassle and regret.

I’m a trucker and have been using this to keep milk and stuff cold. It has done well but I keep my AC on to keep it as cold as possible.
Are there any safety issues with using one of these 24/7 for a week or longer in indoor temperatures?

Why did you keep checking the paper of the water?? When you pointed it to the actual plastic it was cooler.

is it good to place a small freezer pack in to help[ keep it cool if the vehicle gets a bit hot?
