just an observation here. i have cut trees for over 30 years, i have owned & operated buckets, had nearly every piece of rigging equip. made, and even made a few items for my self. it is not the equip that a person has, but the skill with which they r used, that at the end of the day determines success or disaster. sire, he should have tied the limb off 3' farther out, then it would not have "raked" the antenna, but overall, kudos should be given to him, he did fairly well

Not only that, it seems like it’s not a removal so why is he spiking up?

No bad at all for a one man crew. Remember though. The guys on the bottom are just as important as the guy on top. This tree ain’t much but there’s other behemoths that you need a crew for. Nicely done.

When I started climbing the company didn't even broach the subject of spikes wounding the tree and I've seen some beautiful tree get mauled by gaff holes, and the wounds actually closed...but the scar remained for years, and for what? Not wanting to drag a ladder ALLL the way out back, or carry your ascenders with you. People have told me the trees will get infected and die, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. As far as this video, I'm not sure why he didn't go fifteen feet higher and rope that branch or scurry out it five more feet to grab it and drop it safely?

This is not as easy as it looks. It's damn dangerous. One slip-up and he can have a very serious fall or even accidentally cut himself with the chainsaw. Kudos to this guy.

Jaime Alonzo lmmfao...priceless reply. As for what that other guy said, tree cutting does indeed have some inherent danger...but if you do it properly there's very little chance of getting hurt and even less of a chance of damaging customers property.

Agree there are a lot of "Rambo" type "tree cutters" out there that give professional arborists a bad name...but as a professional horti guy with 40 yrs and having hired a lot of arborists to do a job I was not insured for , I must say that more often then not it is the customers fault. The customer wants to pay cash...hires a guy for less. The guy (and the customer) has no insurance . He quite often does not have the proper tools (bucket lift, down rigs.safety harness etc). Can you see the mess?

Tying in makes it so you don’t need spikes. Tying in makes it so you have 2 points of attachment the entire time you climb. Tying in makes it so you can easily swing all the way out to the branch tip just by pushing off the trunk. This is nonsense. Looking like a homeless degenerate just adds to it.

I was about to say the same thing. I'm an arborist myself going on 1 year. So an amateur and not certified yet. I still knew he was making so many mistakes! also I'm tired of seeing improper cuts, that don't cut around the collar of the branch!

By watching his technic, I’m surprised he didn’t stack the other ladder on top of the one he was using, so he can get higher with even less effort …he obviously doesn’t like a throw ball and limb walking .. his 2nd tie in was his hand holding the rigging line while he was cutting ..smh

I had a a man that worked with us named Troy who climbed those tree's so fast it'd make your head spin. Only problem is he can't hear worth a fuck,

show me one case where a tree died as a direct result of spiking, bet you can't do it and if your insurance is going up due to others mistakes then you need to switch companies cause mine hasn't increased in 8 years and I know for a fact people have made insurance claims for damage caused by others...what else you got??

You’re an idiot. Show you an example. Trees decline, they don’t just die. A perfectly heathy tree can start decline and make it vulnerable and eventually die as a result of gaffing, and being the root cause. In the series of events leading to death, if the wounds caused by the gaffs had been avoided, the downward spiral would not have a catalyst to begin in the first place.

    • @forzajuve4845
