But Turks lived in what we today call Greece while Greeks lived in what we today call Turkey, so there are many similarities. The situation changes with the population exchange. But I don't see any similarity between this don't and anything out of İzmir. İzmir, not Smyrna. Let's use the correct names for places.

The translation "bowl" for "pilar" given in your link is apparently wrong - it should be column" or "pillar" - and I wonder why "bowl" was chosen, in spite of the nearby symbolism.
