That opening could've been closed in for a fraction of the cost and half the time. Timber 4×2 studs and dwangs, noise control Batts, and plasterboard on both sides. A hell of a lot lighter as well.
🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
@@martin2466 . Yes the clown is on thin ice now 🙄🧱👍🏽
@@martin2466 Lol. When theres nothing to be said, some pratt always says it. The stalker returns 😂😂😂
@@martin2466 I know you want me to ask. What is one of them I can only guess and its not a term of endearment for sure 😋
Go watch something else ,twat
It never fails!
There's always one miserable, know all, sod that knows "the best way to do things."
Well, that's why Steve and Alex are doing the job, because they really do know what they are doing.
"Well done, you two."
You are a pleasure to watch and learn from.
thanks pal 😁🧱👍🏽
Thank god I found this video 🙏🏼

A good solid wall, great work guy's as usual 🧱And you were out of the direct sun☀
Thanks Chris , it made a big difference 🥵😉🧱👍🏽
Yes guys. That was a bloody hot Monday for sure. 🥵 I think this channel should be renamed. " Steve and Alex build it, you tell us how it should be done" . I thought the whole job looked great from my particular armchair. 😋
Thanks Doug 😆🥵🧱👍🏽
Another great job lads,I'm not the building inspector unlike some of the people who comment on your vids... but have been in the game for over 40 years.. thanks lads
Thanks Del 😁😉🧱👍🏽
Thought you were re-creating Pink Floyd's classic 'The Wall'😎
😁😏🧱👍🏽
Is there a wall beneath the doorway? You put some brick between the floor joists.... Ah! I see the earlier reply, should have read all the comments first!! I love to watch ya'll work as you take the little extra time to make sure each block is just right before moving on to the next one. It's very good to see.
Cheers buddy 🧱👍🏽
Megamind!!!! That was a funny line, couldn’t stop laughing. Good work as always lads
Cheers 🧱😁👍🏽
Grafting in that heat! You certainly earned your money for that job! Good job again guys!

🥵🥵🧱👍🏽
nice job
Thanks Stuart 😁🧱👍🏽
Great work, guys. Better off working indoors in that heat, but still not nice.
Cheers John, very true 🥵🥵🧱👍🏽
Just a question, why did you not just build it reverse bond with one cut either side of each course instead of 2 cuts in the 2nd course a 1 cut in the middle of the wall on the first? Thanks
Not sure mate 🧱👍🏽
When your working indoors it's great but not so gd for the man on the mixer🥵 I only had outside work so I had a couple of days off👌

Mmm the bell end section 🙄🧱👍🏽
great work guys ! sorry part of soundtrack sounds like music form the afore mentioned band from the eighties , great to drift off to sleep! unreproachable work.
Cheers 😆😆🧱👍🏽
Do you build fireplace? If so, we'd like to see that. I like the look of the f/p your customer has there. Fireplaces is one of the things I do.
No they got that with the house . It will be in a skip by now 😬🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild It looked real old and interesting...too bad it's rubbish now.
@@ZacVaper . It was a bit rough to be fair , a real diy disaster 😬🧱👍🏽
As a builder in America, I have so many questions about this. Please answer a few if you can.
What was this wall sitting on below the floor? Is the way you infilled with brick and a damp course typical for such conditions? Why would you infill with block rather than framing, either metal or wood studs and drywall?
Thanks for any answers you can provide. Your content is very illuminating.
Looks like originally it was a brick wall and double doors had been put in. The floor is suspended wood and sits on dwarf walls. Foundations are already in for that wall. Seems like the clients are re-plastering the room so probably easier to have a similar material to the rest of the brick in the room to do that. I would say the house is a 1930s build with the floor and internal brick walls. Im no builder mind but I have been through this with my house.
All spot on pal 🧱👍🏽
All spot on by our other commenter 🧱👍🏽
How long do you typically leave block work before eventually plastering over it?
It’s fine the day after 🧱👍🏽
Could you lay a lintel across first and then go up from there or does the damp prevent that? THX
I see 6 of one had dozen of another. Great vid! Watch the heat that damage Is cumulative
No need for a lintel 🧱👍🏽
Hi where did you get the spot board stand from thanks Steve.
They are Rhino tools , get them online absolutely brilliant 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Hi many thanks 🙏
@@padymac1 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
nice work but I always have in my mined that when you put the damp proof down the brick/blocks on the top of it are not really connected to the course under the damp proofing am I right or not
Spot on Eddie 🧱👍🏽

Music sounds like you’re living in a cardboard box ( bit of an eighties reference).
It certainly does 😉🧱👍🏽
What no concrete lintel to bridge across the floor joists.
Er no ? We beam filled down onto the wall below . Absolutely no need for a lintel 🧱👍🏽
It was more of a humerus comment! Knowing you addictions to lintels.
@@LifetimeinWelding . Ah , sorry about that 😬😆🧱👍🏼
Hope the joist had a DPC under them
🧱👍🏽
Yes there was 🧱👍🏽
On that day I managed to fit one new bathroom lock before going to work. Work started 3 hours late as it shut from 1pm to 8pm because of the heat effects on the measuring equipment. It was cooler in the factory than outside when we turned up and it eventually got down to a nice 29 degrees by home time.
Steve and Alex you are certified as being nuts though I’m sure the clients were happy with that job. Do you not need to tie in those blocks in case of movement though with it being a large void fill?
🥵🥵. Plenty of ties in buddy 💪🏼🧱👍🏽
tangerine dream ?
🤷🏼♂️???
@@martin2466 Still no idea ?

I challenge Alex, to get through an episode without saying "SO" lol it's a pet peeve and does my head in, nice work otherwise lol.
It annoys him too 🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
Lol 😆 so

Hi Guys
Great job, I just don't understand why they bothered with a block wall and didn't do a partition wall as mostly it seemed to stand on joists.
Block wall way better 🧱👍🏽
@@martin2466 . Bang on 🧱👍🏽😬
If you’re going to infill an opening in a 1930’s home with metal studs or pine for that matter, give the building game away.
@@SteveAndAlexBuild l seem to have hit a nerve with your subscribers, just by asking a simple question.
@@grumpyspark2549 at 😆😆🧱👍🏽
No offence to the pair of you; but you stacked the blocked too high before you started; At most I would do only 3x3 towers. Wood is notorious for flexing under load. Spread the load :)
@@martin2466 🧱👍🏽
@@martin2466 a bit like inflation then...
Don't tell me this was a day job? 2 hours maximum
