Bizarre isn’t it I was thinking very similar to you peeps. Talk about working hard 😓. I would be fascinated to know the weight being moved there. Gawd damn awesome motive power and (as many before and after will attest to) their longevity speaks volumes.
Class 37 flexing it's muscle 💪 not struggling,no wheel spin. Well driven, plus going uphill. Well done to driver and 37s power. Sound track untouchable. 😊😊😊
Single locos usually cope with that amount of load behind them don't they? Even with the barrier vehicles the 12 car EMU will be a fair bit lighter than 22 loaded wagons of freight? Then I'd understand having the 37s double headed.
Nearly everyone has commented on the load. I vividly remember watching triple headed 37s on those ridiculously heavy Welsh Coal hoppers back in the day….. But wow this load for ONE class 37 locomotive must of been on the verge of plausibility right? I wonder who and how they would have made the decision to do so. Clearly you need a very experienced driver to manage this situation. Presumably there was very limited motive power available at the time. Great video and representation of what these superb old EE locos are capable of.
Working its heart out but not struggling! Around 35mph fast enough when the unit is possibly unbraked (units not normally compatible with airtrain pipe pressure at 5 bar...390 22x can run in air train pipe mode as well as electric controlled air brake) but dont know about southern stuffhence the brake force runners front and back...possibly running as class 7 or 8 hence speed? Not struggling...............struggling is stood spinning wheels or constant in motion wheel spin...this is neither...well driven by driver all under control....NOT STRUGGLING 😮 Just googled train reporting number 7Q70 so either 35 or 45mph
Don't say struggling, say it was making a damn fine show with that lot on the back, big up the 37s!!!!!!!😂😂😂😂
It was wheel slipping before I started recording
@southamptontrainspotter553 Good you didn't show that bit!!!! Great vid buy the way👍👍👍👍
Absolutely, there wasn’t much struggling going on there.

The old 37s doing what they’ve always been capable of doing and probably will do for years to come.
Indeed thanks for watching

Wow, that was impressive 😊
She was doing just fine with a very eclectic load!
Bloody Awesome, what a perfect machine...
Wow that's some load for 1 class 37...was expecting something on the end there 👏🏻👏🏻 classic old engines
@@aldothenoo thanks for watching, definitely made good work of it
That's like the model railway trains I used to build as a kid...with my favourite loco pulling any old rolling stock I could lay my hands on!
Yea haha
Well, now I understand why y'all in the UK called the 37s "tractors"...they sound like them AND they pull like them!
Nice catch! Love the sound of a 37.
Thanks it was a great sound
My gosh, that's some load. 8 barrier vehicles + a 12 car EMU! Someone really ought to have rostered two locos to that.
Yea load of 22 going uphill aswell make good work of it tho but yea I don’t know why they didn’t use to

@ a load of 22 is still a lot for a single loco especially for a type 3
@southamptontrainspotter553 you wouldn't put a solo 37 on 12 coaches, that's for sure
Presumably it depends on the gradients on the route. That train would be a problem going up Shap with one 37 I guess.
Awesome ❤
Nicely caught mate! Must be up there as working of the year!
@@SWT442 that’s for watching mate and yea I’d say so but let’s see if any else happens this year
Such a great railway station to watch freight activities
@@PJ-ml3yy thanks for watching! And yea it is
No wonder she's struggling look at what she is pulling something else thanks for sharing that 👍
@@rodgertaylor2387 thank you very much for watching!
Thank you 👍
Amazing they didn't think a double-header was appropriate for that load.

@ I guess it really comes down to money. Half the cost, that's what it will be all about.
That's some load for a single 37, over 60 years old and continuing to impress.
Thanks for watching and yea a load of 22
How many barrier vehicles do you need in one train?
Wow Awesome 👌
Thanks for watching
That's great footage. Can I share this please?
@@roddersrail thanks for watching and yea just give credit
Well that’s dam impressive as seeing it didn’t have a banker on the other end??!!
@@benconway9010 yea I dont know why they didn’t double head this move!
The 37 sounded very sweet 👍. The wheelflats on the translator vehicles and the rear wagons not so much so.
Oh and that sound, I just need that to
Send me off to sleep, not the amazon rain forest with running water.😊
Thanks for watching
Nice catch!
Thank you for watching!
What the heck was that...??!!!😅
Great video. I caùght it at Eastleigh
@@trainspotter04 nice one
that's a long one
Cracking video, could of done with another tractor on the rear 😊
Thanks for watching idk why they didn’t double head this move
Just cruising I reckon.

Struggle? Do you know the meaning of the word? Great video though thanks
That’s hardly struggling 🏴
No struggle at all 🤷♂️
To be fair for what its pulling its not doing too bad at all !!
That was not a s struggle in the slightest, reason they’re nicknamed tractors!
