A day of chaos brings Twitter closer to the brink

- Two weeks after Elon Musk completed his acquisition of Twitter, the future of the company has never looked less certain. In the past week alone, one of the world’s most influential social networks has laid off half its workforce; alienated powerful advertisers; blown up key aspects of its product, then repeatedly launched and un-launched other features aimed at compensating for it; and witnessed an exodus of senior executives. #CNN #News
He's doing humanity a favor and running it to the ground 👍
True story
It is intentional.
@@carey_metv Then he is a true Saint... 😇 burning 44 billions of his own stash of one-dollar banknotes to cleanse the Internet. He will be remembered in history for being the true selfless benefactor of Mankind he is. 🤣😂🤣🤣😂
Twitter 2 is in the works....👍👍👍👍😝😝😝😝
I’d be happy if he bought Snapchat, Instagram, Tiktok and eventually Facebook, it’s done more harm than good for all of us
Two possible outcomes: either Twitter improves or Twitter disappears, both are equally good outcomes.
I don’t feel the least bit sorry for Musk or the Twitter executives who allowed this to happen. I already deactivated my account and even deleted the app because I can not be associated with what Musk is doing in good conscience.
You mean free speech you communist???
Lol.
Truth Social is very good if you want an alternative.
Oh no my echo chamber has imploded. I need to leave, that'll show em, right mommy?
Twitter was already on the verge of bankruptcy why do you think they forced him to buy it and what problem do you have with Elon musk isn't that you can't hold up to any criticism from anybody who doesn't repeat your exact propaganda
More proof that billionaires are not the smart ones it's the people that work around them that are the smart ones
Not necessarily true. Say what you want about Microsoft, but Bill Gates had the foresight to know how his ideas would affect the world. Musk is is a manchild; being a billionaire has nothing to do with it.
@@richperez2168 Bill Gates wasn't solely responsible for their success of Microsoft. And hes not responsible for all those ideas at Microsoft like I said before it's the people around them.
You only know Bill Gates because hes one of the figureheads of the company. Media focuses on him but they don't focus On everybody else
More proof Musk is just a con man like trump that THINKS his poop don't stink. He has been lucky that he made good investments and had competent people at those places that moved the product forward. So luck and someone else's talent.
Not a commercial billionaire has been made that didn't depend on people to help them get rich.
@@BushidoXBrown I didn't say he was. What I am saying is he is an intelligent guy who hasn't wrecked an IP he either invested in or started.
What would happen to the world if Twitter went extinct, nothing as no one needs it anyways and we all got along fine before any social media existed. In fact maybe better because people actually talked to each other then.I have never used Twitter and never will.
exactly. well said.
it's been an incredibly effective way for me to connect with activists around the world on issues beyond my country. Can't really do that on other platforms as effectively.
Nothing would happen to the world. It functioned just fine before twitter.

@@californianorma876 world leaders communicated to each other way before we even had computers or even fax machines. You'll be just fine.
Twitter going into bankruptcy would be one of the greatest days in human history.
Any particular reason why
@@cadpole
- It's a breeding ground for far-right extremism and generally people with an extremist/polarizing agenda.
- It's a breeding ground for misinformation due to the compact, baseless, unfiltered format of messages.
- The platform limits itself due to adhering to policies of some particular countries that are completely detached from our Western demoracy.
- It''s used by some as a replacement for journalism when all it does is amplify attention for a select group of people that do not need it. Although you might not be able to blame the platform for this directly, it certainly does next to nothing to mitigate this (a blue tick behind the name so we know who is who doesn't change the content of messages and how people use it whatsoever)
- Although this last one is a bit of an opinion and can be said about many platforms, it's alienating people from society, because it's very easy to randomly put any small piece of "information" on the internet that has zero meaning on anybody else but aims to draw attention to the poster and not so much what he or she has to say, making pointless arbitrary usage or even intentional abuse of of the platform the norm. As an example: some controversial thing might happen and both random people and influencers instantly snowball responses into one direction to influence people's opinions.
- Especially big companies/names use it for personally motivated goals. Businessmen may make odd comments about the financial status of their company causing instant market speculation, affecting market stock values. Or popular individuals may use it to slander other people for the sake of slander.
There's probably many more reasons, but here you go.
Is anyone REALLY surprised by this news. Its clear that Elon Musk must have gotten a degree in. Business management from Trump University. Now if only he would buy Fox News & run it into the ground as well. 🤣

Looks like we all misinterpreted Musk carrying a sink through the door when he took over Twitter.
It wasn‘t about „let this sink in“. It was symbolic for „I‘ll sink this company“.
Ding ding ding, we have a winner.
Down the drain.
This reminds me of something Paul Allen did. His Mercer Island compound was having design problems and the insurance company was baulking at paying for the repairs. He purchased that insurance company and fired all of the troublemakers. I'm pretty sure his repair bill got paid.

It’s amazingly delicious. I hope Twitter burns to the ground and Elon loses everything. 😂

Even if Tw@er is being destroyed by Musk’s hypocritical idiocy and grasping attempts to get into the wallets of the poorest people, whilst claiming to protect, “free speech,” by charging for it, we must all remember that Tw@er was a castle built upon sand to begin with. Most of Tw@er’s, “advertisers,” are state powers and intelligence departments of countries hostile to the west, paying to pretend to be news outlets. Even if Tw@er became a, “safe,” system that was fair, honest and representative, it would lose all of its paying fakers, which would be most of its revenue stream. There is no version of Tw@er’s future in which it could ever be a, “good thing,” in the world, unless it took that multi-billion dollar hit and rebuilt itself from the ground up . . . by which time, all of the fake Russian, Chinese and other hostile entities paid to divide the western powers, will have migrated to other platforms to pollute those. When your business model is just to take the money and not ask questions about what people are up to, or even if they really are who they say they are, this is the result.
@@pookiehoney : It stuns me that people so desperately need to believe in the myth that billionaires are created by being, “smart,” or, “industrious,” or, “geniuses.” When it’s patently obvious that the only billionaires on Earth are people who either inherited their wealth or people who got lucky once. When you’ve become a billionaire, all you do from their is pay lobbyists, image management professionals, politicians and, of course, lobbyists, to keep you rich and develop an image of you in the world that is a complete fiction of your own devising.
I’m not a billionaire but I am, “wealthy,” by any reasonable standard, and I rub shoulders with billionaires from time to time. Nearly every one I’ve met is either lucky or an inheritor and not many are very bright let alone, “geniuses.” And their kids are without exception just awful, spoiled, nasty pieces of sh*t, which is why the world seems to be going down the tubes.
We need legislation putting a cap on how much wealth any individual or their family are allowed to have. Quite seriously. It’s the only way to save the planet.

Hmmm... I thought the first rule of talking over a large business in a segment of the economy where you have zero experience is to avoid making changes for 6 to 12 months while you learn how the business works. When you fire most of the business' executives and senior managers right away and cut the jobs of all the other employees by 30% or so, you lose the corporate memory and years of experience, and you start a stampede of employees taking vacation time to look of a different job. It's not the Titanic of SM. It's the seller showing up Elon Musk by playing him like a violin. Sell Twitter to Musk for a few weeks, watch it go bankrupt under his watch, then buy it back on the stock market for next to nothing, it bounces back under their control. That boosts the reputation & value of the very company that sold it to Musk in the first place, & puts Elon in his place. Two birds with one stone. He clearly got under the wrong skin.
Whoever is behind this: I'm going to make MY company more valuable then YOU at yourexpense, & youre going to do it all for me. Donnot fk with me again.
I once respected Elon Musk as a visionary who visioned to create a colony on Mars. But his actions in last few months is making him look like an irratic king like Joffrey Baratheon.
I wouldn't go anywhere NEAR a colony he started.
@@joebanks3698 He got divorced 10 years ago, and his wife was a failed actress. I think you are thinking of Jeff Bezos, whose wife was the brains of the operation.
A martian colony was a nice fantasy in the novels of Ray Bradbury, not a serious proposal. There's no breathable atmosphere, in case anyone didn't learn that in grade school. Only one planet for us to live on.
@@markrobinowitz8473 Mars is probably terraformable, but it's difficult to grasp the timescales needed - thousands, if not tens of thousands, of years of a global project at scales we can't grasp, using vast amounts of energy and resources that would have to be produces on and from Mars itself, as well as Earth (and probably the much, much easier to use Moon).
So, sure, it's possible... But we'll never know about it. Who knows if Humanity will be around 1,000 years from now, let alone 100,000 - a fraction of the blink of an eye in our planet's history alone, let alone the known universe - but at some point, I expect Mars will have been colonized in some way.
@@vercoda9997 Mars has no geomagnetic field which is crucial for keeping the thickened atmosphere from being gradually blown away by solar wind, thousands of years of work would go down the drain. Mars can only be an outpost with research stations and bases.
ELON made a huge mistake!
He’s way over his head. 🙄
Looks like Mush made a lousy stupid deal.
Banning remote work is just another way of making people resign, work from home is now a way of life and people who want that have ample opportunities to do so now
This is so good for society as a whole. Let’s hope this situation comes to fruition and this human vomit receptacle ends permanently.
Instead of helping the needy Musk spent a fortune on crap. A mere MORTAL playing GOD.
Kinda makes you wonder how stable his other companies are and how happy his employees are. Guess I'd be pissed if something I financed was already worth 1/4 what I paid.
Yah last December at SpaceX it was, "All hands on deck" ... I wonder how willing those employees will be to sacrifice weekends etc to an owner that just blew 44 billion?
He tried creating Hyperloop just to spite California high speed rail. It was a complete failure
They're very unhappy. But he locks them into signing confidentiality agreements and threatens people with legal action if they whistleblow. (Sound familiar Theranos?)
Oh Twitter is not is not his fault that company was going under before he bought it that's one of the reasons he was buying it then they lied about how bad things were and sued to get him to take it anyway that being said his other companies are way over valued and I have heard of the people talk that work with him only people that praise him and yes men continue to work with him and are terrified of saying anything other then how wonderful his ideas are
This is what happens when you are shamelessly support GOP by spreading the lies.
As a Brit, may I offer musk the services of Liz Truss.
She's very good in situations like this.
