Oh man...I could watch Scott Galloway all day long...he just made my day !! He has hit the nail on the head...it's been a great week for the West....I was worried that if the mid-terms went much better for the Republicans and Trump got back on Musks Twitter and funding for Ukraine was halted by a rampant Republican congress that things could get real messy very fast but I share his optimism......and boy.... do we need some optimism in the world right now.
@@breadfan9 Musk is doing a pretty good job of burning twitter himself....and I couldn't care less about twitter. If you're not a progressive does that make you a regressive. Do you wanna take everything back to the 1950's when everything was easier for straight white men like yourself? Before all that damn civil rights and women got out of the kitchen? 😂😄
Scott Galloway has always been wrong about Elon. He's been talking like this since 2017. He predicted that Telsa would die. Every single prediction he made on Tesla and Elon was wrong. There are literally videos of him on YT predicting something and then the exact opposite happens. Now that he predicts Twitter will die, I'm more than confident Elon will pull through.
He is barely scratching the surface of America's dysfunction. We need fundamental change that will not happen with our corporate and Wall St-owned shills in Congress and the tens of millions of morons that back the autocratic style the GOP embraces. We need to invest in our people and nation once again and not lick the boots of the one percent as we've done for decades now.
I still can’t believe that companies like Facebook and Twitter become multibillion dollar companies. Their whole business is essentially trivial, unimportant and ultimately inessential.
It's the fact that some ppl have their entire view if events and the world shaped through their circus mirrors that makes them such cash cows. They can become self perpetuating, bias reinforcing reality lenses for ppl who, for one reason or another, have lost touch or lack the ability to live without their validation. They're addicts getting their fix, it's perfectly legal, and preys incidentally preys upon some pplz need for affiliation, be to "be seen" etc. It's interesting as I think back on 20+ years in IT that steered deep into Cybersecurity how often you'd vet a person or have to check up on their social media footprint, only to find the person completely misrepresenting realities in their life.
I am glad that he could push back on Amanpour on the layoff question. She wouldn't take to his explanation that the layoffs are a small correction on a huge expansion. She wanted sympathy for the unemployed. So he came back to remind her of the strong job market, the reality of being sturdy enough to handle a layoff at least once, and the employability of those let go. I hope she realizes she was spanked and recalibrates her journalistic biases.
@@marthareis5873 No, she automatically assumed layoffs were bad. She went there without any analysis. She had to have it explained two different ways. She has undoubtedly heard about the super strong job market. Near record low unemployment. Businesses that can't find employees. There is a restaurant near me that has 40 tables, but only only seats 5 because they can't find staff. And tech layoffs. My dad didn't want me to go into engineering. He used Boeing as an example because they had just announced thousands of engineers being laid off because a project had closed down. I looked at him and said, "not one of them will be out of work three months from now." I was 18 and that truth was obvious to even me. And he knew I had a point. Having a boyfriend break up with you may be the best thing that ever happened to you. Losing a job is not a bad thing. And it will happen to everyone at least once on average. Now, if we are talking about being unable to find work after 6 months of looking, that is different. She is a smart person. I have seen her handle tough topics. This was the first I have ever seen her show bias. And with a situation she should have known better. I saw her interview with Erdogan. An interview fraught with the possibility of misunderstanding perspectives. She showed real skill of not projecting herself in the questions or in the reaction to his responses. Is it too much to ask her to have done the same here?
@@barbeonline351 live on 2/3 of what you earn. After the first year, you'll never worry about 6 months off again. You'll never be a slave to a bad employer. You'll never be hurt by layoffs.
Treating your employees with respect is never out of style. Sending emails to get rid of people is like stepping on a bunch of ants. People aren’t important. I don’t care if I hurt them. These leaders are an embarrassment.
There is the challenge. You can have a role as CEO or owner, but that doesn't make you a leader. Leadership skills are not tied to a job description, they are a reflection of your character and integrity and how you carry yourself. Most people in business leadership today are narcissistic individuals, who for short periods of time can appear to have leadership skills, but can't sustain the illusion. That is why the American executive business model of working at a company for three to five years and moving on is perfect for them. They can go from one job to another for decades pretending to be something they most certainly are not.

Maybe the problem isn't in "tech" but in the fiefdoms of a few weirdo billionaires who act irrationally and are used to being rewarded for it as geniuses.
Confidence men have been a thing long before today, and they'll be here long after. Elon's just now getting exposed as a massive confidence man. At least Zuckerbot has some claim to intelligence, if not genius.
In 2001 and 2002, about 500,000 tech workers were laid off by various companies. Most of them got hired right away into better positions in other companies.
This guy is so freaking smart. I actually have all his books in my home office right now, excluding his newest one which is about America, which I have on hold at the library. I find Galloway to be very well rounded in his knowledge.
First time hearing this professor speak. He's so right on everything and it's refreshing to hear him speak out so openly on Elon as he sees it. Great interview and he's brilliant!
I've never been on Twitter or Meta and have no interest in investing in Cryptocurrency. And disgusted with the Far Right loonies. So it has been a highly entertaining week for me.
Or even went on strike for a day or two. Same with Amazon workers. It's obscene that the people who own these companies have so much and aren't sharing with the worker bees.
Most of the people in the tech industries are people with highly employable skills. With the mess Musk has made with Twitter, I would bet quite a few people will develop a much better, less cumbersome site that does two things, make the site far more user friendly and actually makes money. Musk obviously has no idea what running a social platform is all about. It's about the people, conversation, exchange of ideas, and much less about culture wars and grievances.
Whoa! So on point! 5:30 minutes in! The idea that people idolize CEOs as new religious idols is so on point! People need to realize CEOs, and wealthy entrepreneurs, are just humans, they may be good at certain skills, but idolizing them is ridiculous! I said he was an opportunist many years ago, and it proved true. Prosocial narcissists are the sneakiest!
Scott hit the nail on the head with this. I have limited sympathy for most people being laid off from tech jobs like Meta. These folks are guaranteed making at least 200k-400k (SW devs), and are probably enjoying some time off ignoring the dozens of recruiters trying to reach them.
This is a good point. Hell, even the people being booted out of Twitter are probably better off than if they were still in that dumpster fire. They're going to get snapped up real fast by other companies. This is NOWHERE near as bad as, say, a factory layoff.

"A 27 year old coming out of Meta right now.... their prospects are pretty good." Thats the understatment of the century. A 27 old can start over completley and will be fine. Geez.
Meta appears to be a poor use of those coding skills, a poor product. Better find a productive career doing something useful, with a future, to benefit society & peoples lives.

Scott Galloway is one of the best society "thinkers" of our time. He's incredible.
"The media is like a T-Rex , we're just attracted to violence and movement." LOL! so true!
I see which way you lean. Mr Scott is clearly left. He's not happy how things are going. Too bad. TIme to burn Twitter and the crazy progressives
We need more Scott Galloway. This guy makes a lot of sense and is very interesting.
And they produce nothing of relevance except wealth for themselves.
It’s all about advertising just like free television was prior The more consumers eyes it can reach the more it’s worth.
@@Justmekpc Exactly and thank you, just what I was thinking.

@@barbeonline351 Oh my god, she showed sympathy for the unemployed.

But it was ok for these employees to kick thousand of users off the platform cause they didn’t agree with them? Why should they get any respect?

Maybe the problem isn't in "tech" but in the fiefdoms of a few weirdo billionaires who act irrationally and are used to being rewarded for it as geniuses.
Confidence men have been a thing long before today, and they'll be here long after. Elon's just now getting exposed as a massive confidence man. At least Zuckerbot has some claim to intelligence, if not genius.

Too late. Elon already fired the majority of them.
Elon has a habit of driving off good engineers. He is a micromanager

@@badnoodlez lol what good engineers? He fired the trash.
Jack is already doing that. Stand by.

Whoa! So on point! 5:30 minutes in! The idea that people idolize CEOs as new religious idols is so on point! I don't need Twitter, or Facebook, or Instagram. UA-cam's another story.
