What about people who can't be social in person because they can't leave the house, such as the disabled or those who are caring for others. For those people, Twitter has been a lifeline.

I left twitter years ago. It's a town square for the opinionated. I don't need to prop up someone else's ego by following their every word. Musk is the ultimate opinionated person; he deserves to own the issues he has created. Let's remember he makes money for Tesla from tax credits, not for his prowess at making sound marketing decisions. He relies on others to do that. So to take over Twitter thinking he has all the answers in the first week of ownership shows his total lack of entrepreneurial ability. Money only buys some things; sound business practices aren't one of them; they are learned, not purchased.

I won't miss it, never really got into it and it makes me smile to hear someone young say what ive thought all along... meet REAL people and practice mindfulness as you go through life and you will have REAL experiences that nothing could possibly replace.
"Let's just get off all social media" is such a statement of privilege though. What about people who are socially isolated due to disability, mental health issues, time constraints, etc. What about people who can't leave their house because of health or carer responsibilities. What about people who live far from family or do shift work and can never see their friends. The site got big for a reason - if you don't need social media that's great, but for some people it is literally their only social engagement throughout the day and that's not by choice.

Musk maybe loses $10 billion but that's nothing to someone worth over $200 billion.
@@frankbandera6591 wasn't it 45billion he bought it for. We don't know what in the deal with Twitter. What he actually bought
@@jordanpaet8839 Musk's boot licking incel fanboys are triggered.
Elon is doing this on purpose to run Twitter into the ground. Elon Musk’s ego is large but he’s no dummy. Twitter’s competitor? Truth Social. Can you guess who owns Truth Social? …..
When Musk foolishly spent money, the money was likely not his. The rumor is that Binance crypto from China paid the cash for the transaction. In other words, Musk works for China. Everyone knows Twitter wasn't worth $44 billion. Musk is not stupid.
That was therapy; the host 100% nailed it: get off social media. Finally a positive news piece :)
the sink thing is too funny- he was being a smartass and thought trolling everybody - and now he is sweating bullets
Yup. He didn't realize that he would be the one circling the drain just a week or two later.
Maybe what he meant was he's going to *sink* the company.
@@Ezero8 Jup, it's sinking in now.
He is doing better than YOU!
Too Smart
It's not impersonation! it's a feature. They had to know this was gonna happen.
Any kind of common sense would tell you that. It's exactly why there was actual verification in the first place.
Plus, just looking at the Twitter handles would tell people these were parody accts.
Agreed. Any twelve old could have foreseen that! _Clearly_ there's no point in a verification when all you have to do is cough up money and then you can verify yourself as Santa Claus. It's like a club selling fake IDs.
There's no point in using it as verification, so of course you use it for fun and giggles. And man, do I love the dig at Nestle, those evil creeps.
Elon will be the first billionaire to drop the fries at McDonald's
Probably makes more than you at McD's 😸
He's worth over $200 billion. Twitter has over 1800 patents that he can sell. Not to mention hundreds of millions of people's data. Plus, the US relies on Musk for Space X, the US can't go back to Russia and beg them to launch them into space. Plus, what's Ukraine going to do without Starlink for internet?
@@bondjovi4595 That's so funny. Real jagoff.
No, but it will be a long time before he gets to live this down, lol!
I like Katy Tur's real talk on this! Maybe this is the wake-up call all these app-addicted users need to get back to being social in person.
What about people who can't be social in person because they can't leave the house, such as the disabled or those who are caring for others. For those people, Twitter has been a lifeline.
Linette Lopez, telling it like it is!
This is just to funny, the Genius goes broke from a perfectly good functioning social media app lol
A guy goes broke for spending $44 billion with investors while being worth over $200 billion? Musk owns all of Twitter's 1800 patents including the Twitter patent itself plus hundreds of millions of people's data. How much do you think politician's, celebrity's, athlete's and influencer's data is worth alone?
Yeah, all he had to do was just let the system run, but he couldn't help himself. I've seen this so many times ,where I worked. New mgmt comes in, thinks their ideas are better, and just screws it all up.
The ego is a helluva drug.
@Hunter Vonnegut hey, did you know pedantry is classified as an OCD :) please get help because it is annoying to others.
He'll make Twitter into Awkward Social, sitting right next to Truth Social together as the Dumb and Dumber of social media companies.
I’m not sure perfectly good are the right words, more like a verbal cesspool that didn’t hemorrhage money too bad. Now it’s a verbal cesspool that IS hemorrhaging money.
Should never had allowed rich boy Elony to buy twitter in the first place.
thats not how things work in a free country
@@iamdone7094 what free country???
Hilarious - you two ladies may just be my new favourite presenters lol! 😂😂🤣🤣
Wow she's so smart and well spoken. I need to see more Linette Lopez
He just needs to keep taking pictures of him pretending to sleep on the floor, after pretending to work.
He has made Twitter worse not better. What a goof.
Was a little shocked to see how many people worked at Twitter in 2022. It seemingly hasn’t changed a whole lot in the last 5-10yrs. Besides celebrities having direct access to their fans I never saw the use for the site.
When I think of Elon buying twitter for 44 billion dollars it reminds of the scene in Madagascar 3 when the penguins buy the circus from the ring master 😅 🤣 😂
I think you underestimate Mr Musks worth. The man is worth almost $200Billion. Buying Twitter was just pocket change.
@@ryant2568 and i think you forgot that all his net worth is in his stock holdings. And that he is very exposed right now. He can literally lose it all in one day..
@@ben-g314 Yes of course it is in his stock value and sure that is down at the moment but it won't last forever, the entire market is down by around 30% at the moment.
And how do you think he purchased Twitter anyway? do you think he pulled $44 billion out of the bank? it's all in loans which are covered by his other companies.
Smartest thing the remaining employees can all do is resign and look for another job. Let it fall and let Musk eat the 44 billion dollar loss.
I agree, thank you.
Elon the Entrepeneur has spearheaded the development of many new technologies. Perhaps he should start on designing a time machine so he can go back in time before he discussed buying twitter in the first place.
Excellent idea!
He can make it out of polished brass, crushed velvet, with a big spinning disc on the back.
Or maybe a DeLorean.
But then he wouldn't own the data of politician's, celebrity's, athlete's and influencer's. How much do think that information is worth?
well he didn't create his electric cars or spaceX rockets, his paid scientists did. i mean he's already have lawsuits for his cars killing innocent lives, his truck was a failure. the guy didn't do anything except receive free movie for something he didn't do.. basically a grift😉😁

I left Twitter a year ago, best decision ever made. My mental health immediately started to improve.......🤣🤣
I left facebook and twitter. Too much false information, hate speech on both.
BOYCOTT TWITTER
That conversation took an interesting turn. Great insights! Love the energy of Katy Tur.
I've been saying social media is a scourge since it's inception. The name itself is a dead give away, it is the very antithesis of socializing in healthy ways. I won't miss it, never really got into it and it makes me smile to hear someone young say what ive thought all along... meet REAL people and practice mindfulness as you go through life and you will have REAL experiences that nothing could possibly replace.
I absolutely agree 👍 👌
it turns out people dont like ugly.
Twitter is at an all time high for users
The trouble with brilliant people is that they think they know everything, and no one does.
There's a bigger problem with truly ignorant people thinking they know everything.
The more you learn, the less you know. When you stop learning or wanting to learn, then perhaps you are ready to die.
It would be funny if The Onion started a legit social media company.
There are many young Americans who believe wealth is Godlike. It's good for them to see reality.
He threw away Billions to use the Platform in favor"s of rooting for traitors & foe.
Wealth does not ensure wisdom or good business sense ideas...if I was him, I would never have touched this hotplate. He is panicking and is going to lose a fortune!
He has already lost a fortune. Big advertisers refusing to do business with him. Amazon, Disney, Nestle, Verizon, 20 in all.

Katy is correct. Twitter needs to crash and burn and never be replaced and free all of us.
It's official: Elon Musk is "The Upper Class Twit Of The Year".
Well done.
Yay, a world without twitter is a better world.

He's another Trump, the same story... rich boy inherits money and thinks he's all that.
So ironic that two of the major social media companies are led by guys with little social skill.
This debacle by the Chief Twit has been so entertaining this week. But a great point that was made in this segment, was by the analyst who said that she doesn’t keep twitter on her phone, and only checks when she’s on her computer. Something I never thought of that’s probably a very healthy to avoid excess screen time on the mobile device.
This was very insightful conversation, from both people, and funny because it's sadly true.
I just watched it to the end, I love both these women, smart and no nonsense funny, cool
Anyone who didn't see this coming is most likely a Musk sycophant trying to coattail on his stock pumps.
Refreshing to watch an actual conversation! I think enough people are sick of scrolling that Twitter could easily go under.
I've always admired people who are able to make a small fortune all on their own. Those people never do so by starting out with a large fortune.
Don't be surprised if you start seeing ads on your Tesla center console.
It shows that Elon i not that smart after all.
"SOCIAL MEDIA SUCKS"!!!!!! This is the best quote of the last 2 decades. Social media is the biggest hindrance to socialization. Twitter should die. I love it.
