I love how they just finished pushing for, practicing for, and playing the world finals and then in the next shot they're sitting around still playing yugi lmao
Because you don't need large price pools for people to be competitive. You play this hobby not for the prize, but to win and be the best. Creating big prize pools will only create new problems and increase the frequency and impact of existing ones like gor example slow play, as now there is even more incentive to cheat and be toxic. Not to mention how the prize pool osn't even remotely an issue that should be on the priority list to fix the multiple issues yugioh has. You have to think before you say stuff mate, else you look like a fool.
That is the peak of Yu-Gi-Oh's entire 25 years of existence? Like, don't get me wrong, I root for, like and respect Jesse Kotton. But this meta game ain't peak, chief.
Worlds is quite literally a publicity stunt - any company organising a competition for their TCG is doing so to encourage sales. They’re not exactly making a profit paying for flights, accom, food etc for 100+ participants across 3 formats.
@@ct1296 of course they're not making money, of course tournaments are meant to be advertisements, but the best esports companies that understand this and reinforce these events to bring the public in and make it a community effort succeed. Look at League of Legends. All these years, the Yu-Gi-Oh world championship was an event to bring friends and make new ones while also attempting to either qualify or just enjoy the side events. This year's worlds it's just a glorified commercial with no soul.
@@ct1296they replaced the public and the crowd with UA-camrs (aka press) this year wasn't groundbreaking, but it was historic in showing konami's money-saving efforts.
No it did not "peak", more an more players are leaving either competitive play (due to horrible meta's, prize goughing etc.) and not enough new players are interested to try this game out. Not to mention the incredibly low interest of existing players in watching or supporting the "pro" scene. So no, it did not peak.

Pokémon WC winners win $50K, Yugioh WC winners win a game mat. Why anyone plays this game competitively, I won’t understand.

Love how Konami made this worlds a PR stunt. Ridiculously lame.
