Feel immensely blessed with this Ishvara Prasadam of first place in Choreography Category at Cleveland Thyagaraja Aaradhana Festival, USA.
Lot of friends messaged me asking more info about this category/ requirements... hence posting the details so that others would benefit if they wish to take part.
Choreography is an advanced Category that is open for dancers from 15 to 25. Also the winner gets a one hour slot to perform in the following year's Cleveland Aaradhana Festival.
Abhishek was the youngest and entered this category for the first time.
Previous night of the competition
Full jathi and stanza of a varnam was emailed to abhishek around 6.30pm previous night.
Contestants are expected to choreograph
1. for the full jathi
2. the stanza of the varnam with at least 5-6 variations
3. it must include sanchari and
4. conclude with the aradhi/muthaipu.
At the competition
1. When the dancer gets to the stage - he will speak with the vocalist and let them know how many times he needs them to sing the lines (That's the first time contestant will meet the orchestra and coordinate to perform live without any rehearsals)
2. Perform the complete choreography of varnam with the live orchestra in 8 min.
3. Q&A from Judges - maximum of 2 mins

I think judgement ok but judge collaboration all jathis. How to know everything learn and not sure for. Every should know everything 🤦
