  • The Great New Zealand Dance Masala 2018
Shiva Shambho composed by Sri. Parshwanath Upadhyay
    Choreographed by Abhishek Ravi
It has been an awe-inspiring experience for the entire RAAS family. More than 9 weeks of journey for Abhishek that culminated on the 7th of July.
Right from selecting songs to incorporating challenges given by judges, it has been an expedition of Creativity and Choreography. A huge learning curve.
It is purely Divine Grace (Ishvara Anugraham) that Abhishek was able to take this ancient traditional dance ‘Bharatanatyam’ (dating back to more than 3000 years), to New Zealand audience on a National Television.
The final performance depicting Five Elements was purely to convey the message that we are connected through Nature without any divisions. Incorporating Poi was a simple way to say Thanks to this beautiful country for giving us a home away from home.
Dancing on the Mud Pot (Soaring into the SPACE)
Dancing with pot on head (Filled with WATER)
Dancing on Brass Plate (Touching the EARTH)
Dancing with the Poi (Sounds like WIND)
Dancing with Hoop (Loop of FIRE)
We bow in reverence to all the Dance Gurus
