In the 1990's went to meet Nando in Uruguay. I was with my best friend and her father. We found his place of business and asked to meet him. He was so very gracious and was so curious that we would fly all the way from USA specifically to meet him. He was very kind and I am happy to say I met him and shook his hand. *such a memory *
Wow! What did you tell him? What did you talk about? He is an absolute hero for me! It would be a dream to meet him! But i would be lost for words! I have re-evaluated my own life after learning about this mind blowing accident and listening to these amazing people!
I would love to meet the man. I doubt I would ever be able to but if you asked me of one inspirational person alive who I would love to meet, it would be either Nando or Roberto.
@@MsPerfectOblivion Like you, I often refer to his words when I find myself in hard times. His advice of forgetting the past and living in the present really resonated with me because I've always been overly nostalgic and I often think it's not a good thing to be like that. It doesn't always serve me well so I try to live by his advice
I met him in 2012 after 40 years of the accident. It was one of the dreams of my life. I went to the andes too. This story will always lead my life. Such an amazing human being
Nando is one of my all time hero's. How you could be unconscious and presumed dead and then walk out of the mountains is truly unbelievable. One bloke I would love to meet.
@@You.Tube.Sucks. He's passed Lovell and Armstrong. They had NASA comforts, but Nando and the others didn't. Respectfully I say. Everyone has their heroes.
Parrado and team had problems at every turn. What a testament to having grace, faith, love, and tenacity. Their lives had great purpose to survive something like that.
His life is a testament to the durability of the human spirit. He suffered a skull fracture in the crash. His mother and sister died alongside him. He survived the avalanche. He scaled a 4000m mountain with no climbing equipment in subzero cold after having eaten only raw meat for two months. When he got to the summit he saw that he was nowhere near civilization, but still in the middle of the Andes. He even had enough strength left to throw that rock back across the river to the arriero 😊. He endured a long list of obstacles that would have broken lesser men
Nando i ''copy''' your humbelness, and I still remember the day when i was 10 years old, the radio news in Hungary, that an uruguayan rugby team crashed in the Andes, I do not know why, but I was devastated, and since than, I was always following your team story. all I want to say, THANK YOU
I am totally lost in this. I'm watching several of these videos. watched the movie years ago. Then watched it again on TV. I'm alive after losing my husband to old age. I will keep trying. I will be grateful for what I have.
Every now and then i search Nando on the internet to see if there is any new content, so gald i found this. Im from melbourne Australia and was so happy when i heard he was in melbourne for the last F1 race here.
in all the interviews i watch with Nando he always dislikes being called a hero or that the was a courageous brave young man and i can understand it but i wish he could understand that he was! Not only did he survive the initial crash but what sounds like a serious brain injury, being left out in the elements with the dead for days, going through the heartache of his mother and sister dying, the avalanche, the starvation and dehydration and hypothermia, the suicidal walk without any equipment over mountain ranges to save not only himself but all his other friends and countless other hardships they would've gone through that is a courageous brave young hero if there ever was one!
Just the type of person he is. In his book, he often offered explanations or apologies for some of the things he went through with the others. For example how he cursed Roy Hayley during the blizzard. As he rightly pointed out, Roy wasn’t treated very well in the 1993 movie Alive but he was the only one quick enough to stand up when the avalanche hit. Thus he was able to dig some people out who helped with the others as much as they could. If not for Roy, they could have easily all died that night.
Getting to see your idol in discussion with their idol is a rare moment. I'll watch any interview with Nando but this this one was an extra special interview. Thanks for posting.
I heard of this story from my uncle in 1972 in my home country of Imperial Kingdom of Iran. I was eleven years old at the time and I was horrified. It really makes me question if we are truly alone and God has either left us to ourselves or just doesn’t care!
Such an honest interview, real people one on one. My respect for Jackie has increased ten fold, my respect for Nando and Roberto has been there since the day they managed to climb out from oblivion. I wish we were able to do the same for all those suffering from dementia. I'm currently taking care of my godfather who lost his wife after 65 years of marriage, as he was starting to show the first signs of dementia. The godfather is supposed to take care of the godsons should something unexpected happen, rarely do we get to understand and experience that it is a two way street!
Thankyou Sir Jackie and Nando this wonderful conversation. This survival story is just amazing and Alive by Piers Paul Read will always have a place in my bookcase 🙏
I watch Alive once in awhile..4 days later?!! Holy crap I didn't know he laid out there that long..I wonder if their all still alive..This story & in the 1800 where some men got stranded on a ship, as they sat there the captain decided with some men to get help. Only one of the survivors is dead, if that's what you're asking. He was in his late 30s at the time of the crash, so he was significantly older than Nando and the other very young adults.
Those are the survival people, one on the most savage F1of all times, but Nando it's a survival machine, a human being its no design to go under those extreme conditions, all my admiration to Nando and Mr Stewart. THANKS
I'm confused I've seen so many interviews where he says his sister was alive when he came too. And he comforted her and she died in his arms a few hours later?
In nandos own book, he states Susie, his sister, was alive. On the 8th day after the crash, Nando says his sister died in his arms but I’m thinking that later in his life he just prefers not to go into the details of Susie’s death in interviews . Maybe it’s too painful
@@brandrider1989 Yes, that's what I was thinking. It is one of his most personal moments and I can understand not wanting to go into detail about that over and over again.

They have reunions frequently You just don’t hear about them because they keep them private affairs . Nando said that they get together on a frequent basis
They get together every year in December, on the anniversary of the rescue. One of the survivors has since passed away, as did the arriero who participated in the reunions (he came upon Parrado and Canessa, on horseback, in the remote valley near Los Maitenes and went to summon help)
Primal instinct kicked in and you survived we have a little bit a animal instinct so it's ok. Animals and bugs eat the dead also there was no bugs or animals around so you all became primal instinct.

i know it is pretty randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch newly released movies online ?
