After 3 years of fiddling with the idea of creating my own content launching my own business, I finally feel confident enough to do it because I trust you, your skills, and your motivation. I left teaching a year ago. Since then, I've been studying instructional design, building my portfolio, and applying for 6 months to land a job in under the L&D umbrella. Thank you for generously providing this knowledge and roadmap! After watching this video, my working audience and focus is "Serving parents who struggle with confidence in their parenting skills, who want to better serve their children by utilizing best practices for raising intelligent, independent, and socially/emotionally healthy children". I'm definitely looking forward to your upcoming videos!
That's excellent, Lauren! Huge congrats on taking the leap with this new approach. I'd love regular updates so that I can help how I can, and hopefully this video series gives you everything you need to stay on the right path. Today's video is a key part of this whole process, and it's about creating content. It's the latest video on the channel if you want to check it out and let me know what you think. Great job identifying an audience like that, too!
I'm really excited about this series. It looks like it's going to be great "How to do it" rather than just "What to do" training. One question to start off with. You said you've been selling courses for two years. Is that two years since the launch of your first course? If so, how long did it take you from actually starting to work on the course until you actually completed it with your pre-sale group and launched it?
Thanks Jerald! I conducted focus groups late Oct or early November 2020, and I presold my first paid course at the end of November 2020. I launched it just a couple months later and I’ve been iterating on it since 😃
Hi Devlin. First off I want to say wow. I love your honest straightforward approach. I feel very confident that this is t just another get “rich quick” scheme as you are very realistic about the work you need to put into building your course. I am a psychiatric mental health NP and have an expertise in dementia care. I have two audiences, caregivers and professionals. I am going to finish your videos and work diligently to get my course up and running for two reasons. One is is SO needed and of course the financial piece is very enticing as I am an overworked and underpaid healthcare provider. Insurances continue to cut reimbursement while requiring more paperwork and documentation. Need to get off this hamster wheel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Hey! Thanks for sharing your story. Your work sounds like it could help a lot of people :) Besides what I have on the channel, my team and I have lots of resources on the website depending on what you're hoping to accomplish with your course. Hey Devlin. Great videos ! Love the way you break things down simply. Q: Is there a specific strategy to apply to niche markets ? ie the general opinion seems to be to find a niche that would be profitable but what if you have real expertise in a small niche ? How would you approach that scenario ?Many thanks in advance
Hey! Glad you're enjoying the content :D I talk a little more about this in the next video, but you'll want to consider how you're adding value to your audience's lives. I include some ideas in the video to get you started: ua-cam.com/video/TVryTpR_39A/v-deo.html

Hai Devlin, Thank you for sharing. Could you please share on your next video about KPI building for e-learning courses??
You're welcome! And I'll add that to the list of suggested videos :D
Your videos are the best I've found so far on the topic of online course creation. Thank you for putting this together.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you're finding them useful :D
Thank you so much for this serie of videos. I find it quite encouraging.
Thanks
Thank you!

@@DevlinPeckYT Thank you. So about 4 months of planning and development. That's pretty fast!
Thanks Devlin for sharing this knowledge! My vague idea for now is to create an English language course for native Spanish speakers
I already do that and have done that! A bit saturated. I think there's less competition for a French audience and wish I spoke better French.
