“Oh god, you’re not David Letterman!” Is such a great line!
I said the exact same thing when I turned off the TV after Johnny Carson's replacement started his first episode of The Tonight Show.
@@alandoane9168 how that turn out….?
@@randy319 Great for me! I never saw even one episode of that weasel Leno's garbage show.
I was like man Gilbert was not funny at all.. then as soon as he said that everything after was hilarious.. he’s better off the cuff
@@alandoane9168 If you never saw even one episode of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, then how do you know it was garbage?
Gilbert seemed to be still so full of life in his later years, I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing the guy but he seemed world class. May he Rest In Peace
You didn't know the guy?
Team Coco coming through at the right time again! RIP legend.
Man, every time Conan drops an old clip, I have to check to see if the person passed away. I was hoping this wasn't the case here, but damn it. This sucks.
A dark reality is that they probably have these lined up, like how News Organizations have obituaries pre-writen.
@@jeremyc9593 same. These days whenever Conan posts something, I go "Oh God, who dies now?"
@@vic5015 no fucknnn wayyyy
First norm and then bob saget and now Gilbert.. so crazy all our childhood comics are dropping dead
Norm Macdonald, Bob Saget and now Gilbert Gottfried. Losing comedians like that is a real blow to society.

He’d been doing standup since he was 15 years old. 52 years in the business. The Gilbert Gottfried Amazing Collosall Podcast is a treasure trove of showbiz and music and laughs.
There is no one like Gilbert anymore. Such a unique individual who had one of the most memorable voices ever. Rip..😥
Most memorable fake voice

God, I'll miss that guy so much. He was always an amazing comedian. Always making all of us laugh until the very end. Rest In Peace, Gilbert. We all love you. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
These old videos are really becoming more and more precious as the people who made these amazing performances are passing away before our eyes. Norm McDonald, Bob Saget, Louis Anderson, and now Gilbert.
Getting old is uncomfortable.
What you said is only gonna speed up.
Seriously! Why all the brilliant comedians?! 😢
@@perpetuated none of them was really that old though
Comedy literally dying before our eyes
They weren't all that old, but they did all get vaccinated I heard
Only Gilbert could deliberately not change his act for decades and still be hilarious.
I never really thought much of him as a comedian back in the late 80s, early 90s until I heard him on Stern sitting in on the news. Unbelievably funny guy. My appreciation only grew from there with appearances like this and, of course, all of the roasts he did. Truly a legend. He will be missed. RIP, Gilbert.
Dracula Gottfried is one of the funniest things ever
Same. Just knew him from USA's (TV channel for the youngsters) show Up All Night for the longest time, and only recently got into his comedy. This is why I love the internet.
@@jeremyc9593 omg I completely forgot about Up All Night! That should really be put into a boxed set I'd buy it
Sadly, most people only know him for his “annoying” voice of the Iago or the Aflac duck. They don’t know how hilarious Gilbert was off the cuff and spontaneously. He had a quick wit.
Same
3:52 "I don't have very much time!"
Hits different today.
I watched the Gilbert Documentary a while ago. The way he was with his kids was amazing. Also him collecting soaps from hotel rooms and free t-shirts was hilarious.
R.I.P. to a serious legend...I will never forget this man's voice for as long as I live.
I'll never forget his REAL voice
I work at a grocery store that's on the same block where Gilbert lived in Manhattan, and he'd come in about once a week, and it was always remarkable how unlike his stage persona he actually was. He was very low-key, rather quiet and unassuming, always friendly. I made him laugh once, and that'll be a feather in my cap for the rest of my life.
The quiet ones are often the wittiest and have yhe best zingers
It's so awesome that you not only got to see Gilbert Gottfried regularly, but see "the man behind the curtain." I've been wondering, was the voice that he used in more serious interviews (later in his life) his real voice, or was that still a put-on?
@@lizzychrome7630 you should check out the documentary Gilbert where you can hear his real voice

It’s really sad seeing people you grow up knowing pass. Can’t believe it still. RIP Gilbert for all the laughs and being a beautiful soul to this world
I will miss this voice so much, hearing his voice in so many cartoons makes them so memorable. RIP Gilbert, everyone loved you
I met Gilbert at a comic-con. Just for a quick picture. Such a nice guy.
No one will ever mistake Gilberts voice for someone else. Great comedian. RIP.
This is an absolute masterclass in 'stealing the show'. What a legend. RIP Gilbert, you crazy bastard!
"FULL FRONTAL NUDITY!"
This man is an inspiration, and I wish I didn't find out about his passing from the UA-cam comments, but in a funny way it's fitting for the best comedian that's ever lived.
What a legend. Hard to believe he's gone.
Gilbert was seriously one of the 10 funniest people who ever lived.
RIP
Rest in peace Gilbert you were and always will be a comedy legend!
Who could have ever predicted that Cavett would have outlived Gilbert?
He didn't. It's still Gilbert in a Cavett suit.
The frequency in which these tributes have been going up is so depressing. It’s very much appreciated though.
My first sighting of Gilbert was when I was about 12yo on "USA 'Up All Night'"
RIP Gilbert. You will go down in history as such a funny and unique man.
"more with Gilbert Gottfried. when we get back." "He had to have that written out for him!" Had me rolling. R.I.P. you funny, funny man.
Rest in Peace Gilbert. One of my favorite roles of his is in Beverly Hills Cop 2. It's only a couple minutes long, but it's so memorable.
Ouch! My arm!!
Not enough people know about his podcast, been listening to it more than any other this year, it's great.
I never saw this coming, he was a great man.
I can’t believe he’s gone. His podcast has been one of my favorites for years.
His podcast episode with Bob Saget is the funniest of all time.
Yes finally a Gilbert clip I haven't seen. Looking back I didn't even realize I was the biggest Gilbert fan specially since I've seen pretty much everything by him a multitude of times. Rest easy Gilbert thanks for the laughter
One of the funniest guys ever to walk squinty eyed on our planet... RIP Gilbert, we already miss you :(
I never heard Conan laugh so hard. I’m going to miss Gilbert.
"FULL FRONTAL NUDITY!" God, so simple, so good.
...one of the best "roast bits" was Gilbert roasting George Takei (sp)...I damn near passed out I was laughing so damn hard...priceless!
...it's all over UA-cam...take 10 minutes...worth it...R.I.P. Gilbert...
You’ll be loved, missed, and held up as the legendary comedian you were. Your legacy is secure as one of the ballsiest GOATS of comedy
Gilbert was/IS a comedic genius. His timing was spot on. His quick wit was unmatched. His scene with Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop II was epic. Just his reactions 🤣, his perfect timing again. He will be missed, but he will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! 🙏 🕊 RIP 🙏 🕊 You made the world laugh, you made millions happy and your work will continue to do so. Rest now and Thank you for so many laughs.
How many good ones are we losing... RIP Gilbert Gottfried, thank you for the laughs and memories
WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU SWITCHED CAMERAS?!?! 🤣 🤣 🤣
RIP Gilbert Gottfried.
I know him mostly as Iago from the Aladdin movies.
Gilbert was a man I hoped I never had to outlive. I really hope I can stop hurting, but it is the hurt that makes me realize the good times he gave me, so I'll keep on hurting, just so I can remember him, and the joy he brought me.
RIP Gilbert. Made my childhood as Iago.Hats off to his iconic voice.
Thank you for the memories. Rest in peace.

I actually met Gilbert at the bathroom in a comedy club in Pasadena. I was having trouble zipping my windbreaker jacket up. He showed my a neat trick to avoid getting the zipper caught both ways. Thanks Gilbert ♥️
That's so awesome, man!
What’s the trick? Don’t hold out on Gilbert wisdom.
RIP Gilbert... Truly a one-of-a-kind voice and a very funny man!
What a freaking Legend like Norm he never held back !!!
RIP to a legend. He even busts out Old Groucho!
I love how Gilbert is a guest who Conan can't even get a word in with because Conan knows how funny he is. Just let him go! And now, sadly, we all have to let him go.
But R.I.P Gilbert, if that's even possible for you! I can see you bursting out of your coffin and doing another routine!
I think Gilbert might've been covering himself because Conan was still young in the game...

Crushed yet again. First Norm, then Bob, now Gilbert (with respect to Louie - I just resonated with these guys more). RIP Iago - this animator loved every second you gave to our film.
3:52 hits different now.
You are missed, Gilbert.
I've seen too many of these nostalgic videos of comedians in the past 12 months 😭
Wow i have never seen Conan giggle like that 🤣
Such a great clip, thanks for the upload
That has got to the best interview in the history of television.
That's crazy I did not even know he was sick
I remember watching this episode. I just graduated high school that year. Conan was the most authentic late night host. He would genuinely laugh at what the guests were talking about and their jokes. Letterman was so fake, Leno was just a hack. Carson was legend because he had that perfect timing thing down to an art.
Letterman was/is fantastic. He was just much more sarcastic/acerbic/sometimes darker than other hosts and understandably that's not for everyone but he's far from "fake."
@@DoctorFurioso Letterman was checked out for a long time. Carson, Conan and Craig were probably the best, but even Carson was checked out and becoming irrelevant by the end. I don't know about the guys from the 50's though.
@@DoctorFurioso Letterman lost all his charm and wit and enthusiasm when he moved to CBS (understandable, given what happened at NBC). The show was unwatchable after it moved.
Carson was boring old and outdated.
R.I.P. to Gilbert Gottfried. I hadn't known he'd been ill. Best Wishes to his Loved ones.
Conan laughing like a little kid is great!
"I don't have that much time." None of us do, Gilbert. RIP.
Everything about this! I kinda wish I knew he was sick. I feel like he's been a part of our lives for so long in so many things, hard to believe he's gone just like that.
Another legend has passed. There will never be another like him. RIP Gilbert
That might be the single greatest late-night appearance I've ever seen.
I love this clip for one reason. By impersonating Groucho, he momentarily breaks character…which is very rare. Only in his early SNL work do we see Gilbert in his natural voice
This guy made me laugh harder than every comedian combined. Gilberts roast of George Takai could only have been pulled off by him without invoking the ever triggered cancel culture. Nasty and filthy while somehow projecting a sense of innocence and being harmless.
I’ll miss you Gilbert. Say hi to the Aristocrats for me.
Gilbert Gottfried sharing time in my head with Marcia Brady... I love finding things I never knew I needed to see.
3:56 I'm lucky (or just old) enough to've watched this when it was new and I've remembered that joke nearly 30 years.
Rip Gilbert
I suspect Groucho Marx's spirit is having a word with him lol
3:18 I've never seen Conan laugh like that. I'm glad because I wasn't sure if it was coming across that well to the audience, not being familiar with the old Groucho Marx and stuff. I guess it really hit the spot because Conan grew up in that era, watching those interview, and he can relate very well.
His old Groucho is so perfect. I was thinking that people younger than I am (older Gen X) won’t understand how funny this is.
He was a real one honestly
The tears in my eyes are pulling double duty today. You will be missed Gilbert.
So great. Also him remembering the greats too.
I really gonna miss this guy another comedy legend gone 😭 i can't say rest in peace i hope your still telling jokes where ever your at
Absolutely brilliant comedy. He was one of a kind. RIP
Gottfried had the best line from the Bob Saget roast.
"I watched Bob's last comedy special in hi-def, because to enjoy it, you either had to be high, or deaf!"
R.I.P.
Two of the best comedians ever.
Gilbert bought that sweater at the goodwill.
I will miss this guy much, rest in peace Gilbert.
RIP Gilbert. What a loss. I had no idea about his medical condition. He kept it out of the public eye.
Mad props to that first guy, his silent Gilbert Gottfried impression (that sounds like an oxymoron) was brilliant!
I found it so cool that he was able to keep that voice from everyone if you look it up it is a character i believe
Yeah, if you look at his old snl bits when he was a cast member, you can hear his real voice.
Estelle Harris and now Gilbert Gottfried, two people with some of the most unique voices, what a bad month. You'll be missed
A legend who will be missed for all the laughs😂 he gave us
He really owns the room!
Gilbert stole that sweater from the Mighty Ducks film set lol.
I love this infinity. Thank you, Conan. RIP Mr G
This is amazing
The end 😂
The old man Groucho impression kills me every time.
"Look I'll show you how smart this guy is."😂😂😂
Gilbert's biography needs to be written.
His energy was just so unmatched
I like how he only let Conan ask one question.
RIP Gilbert Gottfried. ❤
What's funny is his impression voice is closer to his real voice than the scream
One of the best. Will miss ya forever!
That was GLORIOUS
RIP GILBERT, you were such a blessing for all of us.
