That wasn't true form Darkseid in the conventional sense. Darkseid was dead during that comic, killed by Orion. What Superman saw was just what was left of Darkseid's disembodied and weakened consciousness.

Okay so you forgot something very important: Trigon was being a good dad for once. Darkseid made Raven upset. Trigon was having none of it. Only Trigon gets to hurt his daughter.

Actually Trigon cannot hurt Raven, as he would be hurting himself. Raven is Trigon in the 3rd Dimension, her powers are Trigon's. That's why in Azarath, Raven was able to defeat Trigon. In the TT show, Raven is the only one who can actually hurt Trigon. Which is why Trigon wants Raven by his side because the two of them would be unstoppable.
Raven's true powers only come out when Trigon is physically there.

Man raven is easily one of the most overpowered yet balanced characters of course trigon would rekt darkseid after all darkseid tried ending the world multiple times and raven basically ended it but was able to fix it by defeating trigon using her power to revert things back to normal. Like raven overpowered powers are determined by her feelings tho she has to come off kinda emotionless to keep balance of her powers.

Darkseid has the same problems lots of big characters have, he's over used. His stories put him in conflict with superman who, in DC, isn't really on the same level but always wins anyway. Trigon goes aganst his daughter, and most of the time only "loses" because his aim isn't really to kill her.

Its really not a problem with darkseid, but with superman. In DCs mind, he HAS to win. So theyve just made him ludicrously strong. Immortal warrior goddess wonder woman? Yeah no, hes stronger than her. Legendary space cop hal jordan? Stomps him. Primordial lords of chaos and order? Well, hes gonna have to put in some effort. And so why is this dude so strong that he upsets the power hierarchy of the universe? Is he a god-sorcerer reincarnate? Is he a remnant from a previous universe surviving the big bang? Nope, hes...just some dude that was handed his powers because yada yada different sun.
RJ MacReady I think Superman should be stronger than all of the heroes on earth. But him being being able to resist death and combat beings who can create their own multiverses with no difficulty is a little ridiculous. Trigon's family tree is one of the most hilarious and bat shit crazy things I've ever read.
Also, while watching Teen Titans, I had a sinking feeling that there was _more_ than meets the eye of Trigon. Seeing him lose so many times was suspicious and made me think that he was holding back his full power... After watching this video and hearing your list of his feats cemented my suspicions about him. He _WAS_ holding back against the teens.
Trigon is the super-boss to end all super-bosses in the world of DC.

Trigon only loses to the Titans because he can't hurt Raven. That's why he wants to recruit her, instead of just killing her when she doesn't cooperate. Raven is part of himself and without her, his powers are incomplete. If Raven were to embrace him, they would both power-up to their full potential.
Knowing that Raven is Etrigans aunt makes Ravens interaction with etrigan even more hilarious:

I had no idea Trigon was that powerful. I'd show this to someone who talks crap about the Teen Titans. Trigon is a being far beyond the imagination of the 3rd Dimension, that's why he has Raven there. When Trigon appears in the 3rd World, its not even Trigon, only some of his essence that we are allowed to see. Only in worlds like Azarath can Trigon come into full existence since he was the Manifestation of all of their evil.
The League never faced Trigon, they faced part of his essence. The World would be consumed if Trigon actually stepped on earth.
Every major villain has "his best form" and then they become jobbers.

Hearing how Trigon is in the comics really is surprising. It is in direct contrast to how he is in the animated movies. At least in the movies, while still being a demon, genuinely regards Raven as family. He never threatened her directly and was even willing to help her. The guy didn't even destroy what remains of the Justice League after Constantine and Raven gave him a physical body

This was really helpful in understanding both characters, particularly the difference between Darkseid's avatars and his "dwindled" form.

What I really want is for those two to have a whole storyline about their feud. In Darkseid's defense, he was already beat up in Apokolips War thanks to Superman/SuperTrigon. The size adjustment by the boom tubes was something I was really wondering about in this movie because he shrank between the first time he appears and now thank you for answering that question.
Power scaling in comics, especially one as old as DC is nearly impossible, stories change so often and powers are scaled to fit each story. But if I may say, I think Darksied is smarter then Trigon, Darksied is a cosmic genius even praised by Lex Luthor. That whole thing with Darksied falling on the multiverse? That was him changing his destiny, he was destined to lose to Orion but he changed that by killing him with the literal concept of a bullet. So Darksied May or may not be stronger than him overall, but he certainly seems smarter.
An IQ of 1,000,000 won't save you from a bear if you're locked in a small room with it.

There is another argument that could be used in Trigons favour. Currently the DCU is based in a Multiversal map featuring 52 universes and other things. The New Gods which includes Darkseid in all the in-canon guises we've seen him, are a moving ball within this Multiverse shielded by lastly the Sphere of Gods (Olympus and the like) and mainly by the Source Wall. What the Multiverse doesn't feature is the place Trigon is from, he is not from or part of Hell, the 'Reign in hell' mini didn't feature him at all, or any of the 52 Multiverse worlds... despite being known as a universal conqueror. So basically you could say Trigon is like Perpetua, a something from beyond the Source Wall.
That's exactly what he is! I'll talk about that more in my Trigon specific video.

I mean as soon as I started watching Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, and saw that Raven and Trigon were major characters in the movie, I was just thinking "please let Darkseid and Trigon fight." In fact that was the confrontation I was most looking forward to. I was a bit disappointed that their short battle was nothing more than a plot device. But I REALLY think DC needs to let them really have a go either in comics or the animated movies. Now that we've gotten a taste of this battle of the Big Bads, we need to see this as a core focus and not just a plot footnote.
* In fact, should DC decide to do another continuity reboot, perhaps a fight between Darkseid and Trigon could be the catalyst for tearing up the DC universe.
I think Trigon’s lack of appearances in comparison to Darkseid are all you need to know about the power scaling.
For as much as DC and Marvel like to introduce new, unbelievably powerful characters/ version of Superman, they know that they can’t have these characters/versions just be the norm.
So all of the heaviest of heavy hitters are kept in the basement until a new storyline requires them.

And I would assume they're aware of the change, i think Lucifer and Mister Mxyzptlk are both stated as being aware of the last flashpoint. While I wouldn't put trigon or darkseid anywhere close to Morningstar or the Imp, I always took this awareness of the reset to be because theyre both from beyond this universe. Meaning darkseid and trigon should probably keep their memories as well.

DD here is how I honestly would structure the power scaling in comic books and wish dc and marvel would actually do this more so characters who are actual gods would not feel like wimps. Superhero’s who are aliens our humans would only be able to get to planet level at best and only handle things that are on a planet level scale. Star level characters should be celestial beings and characters that are supposed to be gods should be above that. The problem with Superman is dc they have this favoritism we’re just because Superman was the first comic book hero created that they should be the best so over the years they kept adding powers to him and kept powering him up. They made Superman weaker after the silver age but it wasn’t by much and he still is inconsistent as hell. When it came to marvel what I liked about them is a lot of there most overpowered characters we’re usually not in the story so the story could be told. For example in the first silver war comic marvel did they took the real thor out because if he was in the story there would be no story.

Superman is and should be Thor level and without massive power amps should normally and easily lose to beings like Trigon or Galactus. Only amped versions I like of those heroes are Superman 1 million and Rune King Thor since those power amps make sense to why and how they got so powerful. Superman bathing in the sun for 1 thousand years and Thor gouging out both his eyes to gain the Thor force which is 2× more powerful than the Odinforce.

Actually many youtubers have tried but none of them finished because as you said DC is ridiculously convoluted!!! I was watching one video where the guy tried to give the history of the DC universe from the beginning and he just gave up 😆... DC is seriously a mess! And they keep trying to fixed it by having these infinite crisis events that only makes it worse.
I'm not saying that Marvel is perfect by any means but at least they are consistent with the origin of their universe and their higher beings power scales.

I'm not that an expert on the current DCAU storyline, but I think we have not seen a New Genesis New God ever pop up. It's all been Apokalips-Earth at this point. Plus if I recall, HighFather didn't start the war with Apokalips; Darkseid started the war which always comes to a stalemate.

@@NumeroUnoApolloTheFirst yeah i did a lot more research into the lore of dc comics and found a lot of stuff i didn't know. but i still think trigon is more top 10 material than top 2 or top 1 the reason for this is consistency yes certain characters can become the most op in one off appearences but they usually aren't consistently that strong. if we are talking one off appearences then yes trigon is top 3 or 2 material but consistently he isn't that strong. lucifer and presence are a lot more consistent in their ranking it's like saying Dr. Doom is top 5 marvel material due to a one off power up to God Emporer Doom in Secret Wars 2015 or that juggernaut is top 40 material due to a one off comic line version of him: Trion Juggernaut. so i don't think you should put a character higher in ranking to an inconsistent storyline. but that's just my personal opinion.

I’m a Marvel guy but I’m decently versed in DC and I know who Trigon is but I didn’t realize he was this powerful. I honestly came in to this video thinking you would say Darksied or at least it would be a close match but this was a little surprising to me.
I always thought that Trigon was more of a alien demon. In other words a evil life formed outside of Hell.
Huh, I know Raven's backstory and she is certainly one of my favourite characters (seriously, I would love to see her meeting the Justice League and then being freaked out again. Seriously, she came asking for help against Trigon and they said no. I don't know whether that is smart or stupid) but I never thought about her being a Hellion. Fair play.

Yes. Raven is potentially on the same level, or even MORE powerful, as Trigon. But she can only access her full range of powers if she embraces Trigon or, in order to become more powerful than him, consumes him and becomes the next Queen of Hell. Dark!Raven is considered a universe-wide extinction event.
Raven turned Azarath into one of Doom's hells after her birth and the sky turned black by her demonic presence in the comics as she once described her birth, she created an inter dimensional being who has his own dimension and has kryptonite vision, magic, dimensional travel, superhuman attributes and powerful empathetic and telepathic skills etc and he was a side effect of her powers. Raven one shotted Dr Psycho who's a better telepathic/empathetic than Martian Manhunter and Manchester Black even amazed by her suppressed powers, she even stomped Mongul and admitted that he'd be dead if she didn't hold back in her base power.
Raven teleported faster than Wally in pre crisis and In rebirth ,she kept a telepathic and empathetic link with 3 speedsters in the speed force using her soulself, the soulself is a source of an immense amount of extra dimensional energy and given by her father and when he comes to retrieve her, she's indeed his daughter.
Trigon should've been a JLD villain and Raven should've been a JLD hero.

I think Darkseid isn't the embodiment of evil but more so the embodiment of tyranny.
Darkseid is a force of domination while Trigon is a force of destruction. Sure Darkseid might mold your world into his image and kill/enslave all who resist but in the end most of it will still be there because his goal is to own it. Trigon on the other hand will disintegrate everything that exists and consume the leftover souls to increase his power before moving on to yet another of the countless realities he's done it too before.

What is evil? Corruption or destruction. If it’s domination, I’d say Darkseid is evil, if it’s destruction, it’d be Trigon or Pralaya, but it could also be the Empty Hand who causes the superheroes constant danger for our entertainment as readers, if it’s Chaos, then Joker is the ultimate evil. So far, Perpetua trumps Darkseid in corruption and domination.
