- "''67 Pontiac Firebird" by Good Tiger
Alex's Meinl Cymbals setup from left to right, if sitting behind the kit, is as follows:
18" Byzance Traditional Medium crash
14" Byzance Traditional Medium hihats
10" Classics Custom splash
10" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Splash
20" Byzance Traditional Heavy ride
19" Byzance Traditional Medium Thin crash
18" Classics Custom Dark China
Alex Rudinger also uses Tama Drums, Vic Firth Drumsticks, and Remo Drum heads
I'm always amazed at how he's able to hold his breath for whole songs at a time.
one of the best drum videos ever made... great visually, AWESOME sound and musicianship...
Man, that snare articulation around 2:20 is amazing! Great job!
This song and "Enjoy The Rain" are definitely my favs
This is a special moment in time where you get to hear a stellar song, performed by a phenomenal drummer (the best IMO), playing on a Tama Star Bubinga (also the best IMO) and with superb mixing. Rarely ever does every aspect of a performance meet equally together creating the impossible, PERFECTION. This is my absolute favorite performance by sir Rudinger, because of the Star Bubinga Kit and the exquisite drum mix, he always kills it when it comes to performing. Best you have ever sounded Alex, thank you and everyone else who was involved musically in putting this gem together.
holy shit that drum sound is amazing
Beautiful cymbals, kit and cinematography, killer Nolly mix, and Alex on drums . . . this is the perfect drum video. Well done Meinl!
Been far too long since the last time I watched Alex play. Fucking killing it as always! Also dat Tama-Meinl combo is sooooo sexy.
Sloppy as fuck..
Oh the drumming ? Yeah amazing. I was talking about this yoghurt that fell over in my fridge.
David Oakes # sloppy???
Yeah it's all over the fridge.
And what is in the fridge? I hope enough beer
nelskudler only yoghurt
Audio mix is killer... playing? beastly... as per usual. :)
sounds like it was mixed by Nolly, anyone knows if that's the case?
It is
+Raffaele Sansone I think Rüdinger is always with Nolly...
LanceCampeau have you learnt how to pronounce mienl yet? :P
yea, the snare gives it away :D Same with taylor larson's mixes
You are so awesome, get so excited to watch these!
Hell yea that was great, kit and cymbals sounded awesome
This is so sick.
Great video. Seems like the audio/video sync is off a little bit - for the front camera shots anyway. Which is a bummer. Overhead not as noticeable to me.
it bugged me the whole time, that little offset kinda ruined it for me, but rudy slays
Brian Wherry haven't noticed that before reading your comment. Holy shit 😂
Yes, but just barely. Not sure I would have noticed it had I not read your comment LOL Looks like the audio is a hair in front of the video. Not enough to annoy me. And out of sync audio/video DOES bug the shit out of me. Nothing like the out of sync you see on Instagram. UGH.
Totally agree. That should be corrected.
this songs and drums it´s amazing !!! great sound, snare sounds incredible!!! Your left hand deam!!! regards from Argentina!!!
My god the whole kit sounds so great!
Hot damn! Amazing playing!
amazing work
it is my goal in life to be able to play 1/10th as well as Alex. the chops and energy he displays in even the most basic of grooves is simply amazing.
Excellent , Fantastic drummer and cav´s fan !!!
The song is called " '67 Pontiac Firebird"
Cristian Baz well , no vocals , so what type of Pontiac it is cannot be mentioned until it is not instrumental .
Lol
Achintya Sharma lol the mentioning of any car is not heard, for all we know this song could be called Toyota Prius
@@aaronnichols2442 Why is it even a car?
1.- nice groove
2.- good left hand g notes rythm
3.- good sound of your Drums
4.- the Snare is sick
5.- sick punchy Bass drum
Very good song and good ending its makes me wanna dance so groovie Man 🤘🏻😎 nice work
That is flippin' awesome , like flip ! Go on , Rudy !
dude... your technique is insane!
great sounding setup.. kit and cymbals
Not sure how anyone can dislike this. He's the master of tempo.
Crazy awesome! :) Alex!!
cymbals set sound and look pretty wicked, set up.
Perfection!!
was i the only one that was totally singing the words to the song
nope!
love that snare
awesome :)
That was so damn good 👏👏👏👏
I can’t believe this was five years ago now holy shit
Usually kids get grounded from the tv, not alex, alex got grounded from his drum sticks when he was a youngin.
I think meinl could´ve at least mentionded, that the song is from his band "good tiger". listen to them, also the vocals are amazing ;)
They mentioned it in the description.
Nathan Martinez oh, ok :D
Id say thr vocals are... there at least 😂
DiePixelkrieger vocals are for me as annoying as it gets
This vid made me think about a thing rotating around social media. Something about metal drummers making simple things look hard and jazz drummers making hard things look simple.
Any1 know wut trk playin softly in bkgrnd of the outro when he's discussing his kit/setup??? Ive just discovered "Good Tiger" …it's uhh really "good.";-)😸👌🏾
exelente!
Beast mode...
MUCH PREFER drum videos like this and not those ones where it's basically people dragging sticks ever so lightly across drums and cymbals so as not to wake the studio mouse.
Both kinds of videos are really good. You are allowed to like both.
David Oakes I agree man! Dynamics are for pussies! All about bashing everything as hard as possible!
David Oakes And yes im being sarcastic
There's a place for jazz.
i expect.
thats not true lmao, im in a tech death band and without some dynamic it'd just be way too much, and he uses dynamics in this video. so you just called him a pussy XD
Are the heavy traditional rides still being made? I can’t seem to find any.
What make is the snare drum? Sounds so good!!
It's Tama Re-Issue Bell Brass 14x6,5
THIS IS FUCKING GREAT ALL THE WAY AROUND
stellar play ! I love to Watch alex tear it up ! this band is so good when you don't hear the awful singer...
That Classics Custom Dark China sounds proper dangerous...
Gotta say, the Gravity and Friction video was way better, much more exciting. Alex is incredible as always but as simple as the backing track was on Gravity and Friction, it left him much more room to expand.
this is his actual band, they had to throw in something he wrote. plus there are vocals on this track so it cant be too busy, if the band was instrumental it they'd be crazy.
fucking incredible
are these Tama Star bubinga or maple?
Why can I only like this once?
nothing too technical about this song, but watching how clean alex performs is so fun lol
That China is bitchin'! I think I know what my next Meinl purchase will be.
BionicleSaurus I bought it a couple of months ago. Best china I ever had! :)
Speckon McBacon Fantastic!I've been using the Classics Custom Trash China for a while, but it cracks very quickly, and I need something a bit more durable.
I have a Paiste Rude china 18' and it's fucking durable dude but I need this Meinl classic custom dark china
Tight
Nolly mix this?
this is fuckin rad
2:52 hits splash cymbal but no splash cymbal sound = illuminati confirmed
Actually, there's a splash sound. Listen carefully and you'll notice a "left panned" splash. A good quality headphones might be helpful in this case.
Reece Webber lol, I can hear it well.
breathe, Alex... please! :D
looking like this was before the shortening of the toms... amirite?
GO CAVS
Bearded wonder Levi in the back!!!!
Alex might have become a killer actor. Just look at all these faces.
It is funny to see the evolution in his facial expressions. In his first videos he looked like an absolute robot
WhereTheWavesAreBorn if you watch luke holland recently, he tries to copy Matt garstka's facial expressions like crazy. I like Luke as a drummer but it's insane how bad he tries to mimick Garstkas expressions. It seems to me that Garstka and halpern are influencing certain drummers in not just their playing but also facial expressions. I'm not saying these two invented not having a straight face but certain facial expressions they do are unique and only they each do their own thing that is very natural and feeling the music. Lol sounds so retarded but look at garstka's expressions then Luke's expressions in his newer videos. And then look at his older videos.
Did not realize that, gotta check it!
Andy Ham I just realized i kinda did the same thing, found out about Matt about a year ago and since then i find myself tilting my head to the left when focused just like Matt. So what you said about influence definitely is true
Len Harmsen it's defiantly true cause I find myself making the ugliest stink faces after finding out about Matt a couple years ago. Garstka and halpern Definitly have the drum stink faces on lock. Haha.
They're good tigers brent
Why did you mute Elliot???
Dude your such a drumming master fuck the haters it's my dream to take a lesson with you one day hit me up
MOOOONNNSSTRO
So awesome to hear this song with the star bubinga toms and kick. Too bad the audio is 5 frames out of sync with the video :-(
filthy I lovit
すごい…。
Mannnnn !
Fuck this song is good
really bad.......
if you lower the volume :')
Gorgeous as fuck ! ;)
Now that was some tasty shit!!!
:)
Velocity level = 127.
Orgasmic kit , love that china
Snare tipe ???
It's Tama Re-Issue Bell Brass 14x6,5
jesse pinkman on the drums
is that really music ? the audio and video were out of sync.
Sounds like programmed drums. Both the tone and what he's playing. Not that it's bad, far from that. Just what it sounds like.
It was duggen. Song is much better with Vox tho. Gets the emotion added.
I wonder how and why some people can click on the "I don't like" button ??? Really guys ???
thumbs up for his shirt
Good tiger is not a band that sounds really good with just the instrumentals cause it’s so vocal driven. Doesn’t sound bad or anything and those tama star Bubinga drums are my favorite drums along with tama starclassic Bubinga. And the meinls sound amazing as always. The instrumentals doesn’t sound bad but just bland and kinda boring. There’s just nothing special going on, just strumming different basic chords. His other meinl video of latchey kids is even more boring. But Alex’s drumming is great as always.
Awesome playing as always...but those tempo changes are a little irritating
Not all music is the same or what you want it to be. Just because you do not like fluctuating tempos doesn't mean other people shouldn't
I love how the comments either fucking adore this video or completely loathes it lol and the occasional bigotry
Cymbals are always too tight Rudy. Grounded.
is it just me or is it slightly out of sync?
Zzzzz.....
Played slightly too stiff, especially in the quiet passage you can hear that. Played very inappropriate, much too insensitive.
This happens when playing drums for only a single direction.
And the audio-video synchronization is terrible.
pixel lite Please just shut up lol
@ Noah Jay, Billy Cowen: blah..blah..blah ....tralala...go play, children.
Don't bitch, just post your "better" version. I'm sure you can play it better than Alex, right?
@sinborn41214:
Oh ... and only then can I have my own opinion, or what?
You narrow-minded guy
pixel lite I disagree, but you're definitely entitled to that opinion, for sure. I can see your point though
he's not bringing anything interesting to the table, drum fills are extremely predictable, and well overall is just sloppy...
This guy is strange .
Tasteless rythms, simple patterns. Nothing unique
