Kenny I love how you are straight forward and informative!!!! Thank you🦋😘💯💖💯😘🦋💖
Thank you so much Stelita 🤍
You are so very welcome!!!❤️🦋❤️
Great information. I really appreciate it. I’m thinking about going becoming an independent agent
Thanks! I think that's a great idea!
Starting in the industry at 60, I'm going Captive for that paycheck, managerial training program, and benefits package with a century old Fortune 100 company.
Congrats! I wish you all the best 🙏🏾
Hi Vince, which company are you working with?
@@krystalvasquez5243 I'm associated with an FMO that has several carriers, Premier Marketing.
This was the perfect video I needed. I'm with All-State & looking to switch i was offered a position with another big company, but I have another interview with a company today where I would be independent (Somewhat) but the no base salary threw me off... but I assumed there might actually be something good to it, just as u explained in this video. I'm thinking to give it a shot.
Why not just start your own agency?
@KennyJTV how though?
Hey Kenny its been a few weeks I have successfully passed my PA Life and Accident and Health Insurance Exam ,,,🎉🎉👏🏾🎊 but im thinking about going for my Brokers license ,,, thank you for all your help and Videos ,,, but I still have to get my fingerprints done. I definitely want to go Independent broker route.
Great video! The captive model is changing and there's proof of this all around. Indies are now being offered the ability to write "captive" insurance carriers. Someone considering the captive route should really take the time to digest this. Why are they allowing for indies to write their product now?
I'm biased because we're an indie network, but I feel very strongly that indie is the way of the future. More options to suit the client.
But in an effort to provide both sides of the coin (nobody does this anymore!) I will say that one thing that captives have going for them is the name brand recognition.
I see many new indies fail to understand that when you go indie, you are the brand. You are 100% responsible for making your phone ring. You're 100% responsible for driving traffic to the website.
Nobody is randomly searching your name on the internet, or contacting you because they saw a commercial on TV. There's a huge difference there!
When running an indie agency, one has to be savvy with marketing!
this is 100% accurate!
I'm a new Agent myself ala a career change at 50. Best decision I ever made! I'd love to speak with you at some point in the near future! Namaste -Juan🙏
Hi Juan, congrats on switching industries. Feel free to book a call : calendly.com/kennyj/30-min-call-kenny
Great video ! Very informative. Congrats on your success in your career. Thanks for sharing our perspective and information
Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏾
Been watching your videos for a long time man! Great informative content 👍 thank you!
Thank you!
This was a good one Kenny! Appreciate the info 👍
Thanks for watching 🙏🏾
Your explanation was perfection. Thank you, KennyJ🤩
Thank you!
Thx for making video great job 🙌🏾
thank you!
Another banger , great info Kenny J! Keep it up!
Thank you brother!
Kenny J be keeping it smooth
Thank you!
Hey Kenny! Great video! Can I ask you, what CRM or platform do you use to get new applicants set up? For example, if I wanted to sign up leads on ObamaCare.. What platform can be used?
New to P&C. Just got licensed on Monday!! How to do I get started getting appointed with carriers??
It’s a few ways you can go about it. Reaching out to the carrier, clusters, etc.
how long did it take you to pass the exam? thank you
Wow. You have the most incredible eyebrows.
Thank you lol. I had a shoot and had them done and I hated them afterwards. They did too much 😅
I’m glad o found you!
I’m glad as well, welcome to the family 😌
This was SO helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
great video Kenny, What software do you use to run multiple carriers quotes and how much does it cost?
Thank you! I have a rater but other then that I don’t have a system. I usually know what carrier to quote then through once I speak with the prospect.
Kenny, this video was very helpful and informative. I am interested in learning more on the topics you discussed. Is it possible for us to have a one on one Q&A?
Hi Gavin, thanks for watching. Feel free to book a call with this link : calendly.com/kennyj/30-min-call-kenny
@@KennyJTV Is there any reason at all that I should be skeptical of the fee for the call? I don’t mind the fee whatsoever, just the fact that it is prior to the call.
@@gavinpruett968 not at all. It's normal protocol.
great video !! Is there a company I could work for independently selling Auto, Homeowners, & life ?
Thank you! There are many companies that would allow you to do that.
Your information is great, and my question is, working for an insurance company as a captive agent, is it possible to create a independent company of your own, but still represent the company and its products under the title of being their captive agent?
Let's say, the name of my company is "Byrd insurance," agent for McDonald insurance.
Is this possible or would be much easier to just be an independent agent?
Wow , good info!
Thanks for watching!
I started independently but I think I want captive to finally leave my fulltime job (not insurance) of six years
Captive can definitely help you do that! When I was captive I had a base salary + benefits.
Ok, thank you for the information Kenny! Just to verify. As an independent agent, you own your own agency correct? Are you going directly to the insurance company ( Ex. Statefarm) and every time you sign up an insured with them you get a commission? Thank you in advance.
I do own my agency. Sometimes I go direct sometimes I go other avenues.
@@KennyJTV understood, thank you for the reply. Sometimes you go directly and sometimes you use bundles am i understanding that right? So at first were you an independent agent working under an insurance agency before you started your own agency?
Current captive agent here. I do like the the idea of being able to shop additional options for my insureds. I believe I have good knowledge and experience in the field to build trust and rapport while meeting the needs of my people.
How does one go about getting all these 20+ insurance carriers under your belt? Do you have a video that explains this? Do you start with say 5 and build your way up? Also how does one navigate the IT hurdles when it comes to different companies? Are these insurance carriers all part of the same IT database where you plug in the information and out comes the result?
Hi Ben, super loaded question. Feel free to book a call: calendly.com/kennyj/30-min-call-kenny
When you say independent agent, does that mean you have to own agency? When you said your agents make their money on commission only, are they considered independent agents? Like can you be an independent agent without having your own agency.
You can definitely be independent & not have an agency. I have an agency, yes. But you don’t have to.
Where does insurance brokerage like FFS stand in this
Kenny Love the information ‼️‼️can I be an independent agent/broker with being apart of an agency?
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can!
@@KennyJTV I’m sorry I meant to ask can you be an independent broker/agent “without” being apart of an agency?
Absolutely!
how long should one stay captive before going independent? or can you start independent with no experience?
You can do either to be honest! If you do the captive route first, you will know when it's time to go independent.
How long do you think an agent should be captive and getting experience before they open their own agency?
Great question
Hi Aisha! I believe there is no set time. When you feel comfortable and you know enough to go out on your own, then it’s time. For some it could be a few months for others a few years
@@KennyJTV hey do you have to own your own brokerage to be an independent agent? Do you have information on getting started as a independent agent from a captive agent.
@@fonteenoarnold1161 Hi! You don’t have to own a brokerage to be independent. Feel free to book a call I can give you all of the steps!

I’m just starting my studying for the TX State Life and Health exam! I only have the book from ExamFX but I’m looking for an affordable online course! Do you have any suggestions?
I took Kaplan's course on line, very simple and affordable.
Captive jobs will fire you😂 if your not selling. I'm new in the business but I'm in two captive jobs deep with metric systems.
Facts 😂
Is there anything I can do if my last captive job will not release me?
I’m trying to find information about The Alliance? Do you know?
How would I find customers if I go independent? How many hours a week do you work?
Market yourself!
Honestly depends on how I’m feeling. Sometimes 50, sometimes 20
@@KennyJTV is there not a website with monthly subscription that gives out leads?
I just received my insurance license, in your own opinion do you think first starting off with no experience should I go captive ? For experience or do you think it’s possible to be independent without experience?
What did you do?
Is it possible to be captive for P&C and independent for life and med? I’m in Florida it’s rough out here. I’m seriously considering switching careers. So this insurance thing is new to me. My overall goal is to be independent in all areas.
Usually if you’re captive you can only be captive. Most captive companies sell P&C and life
Thank you very much. I think going independent will be the best route for me. I will look into what I need to get my license on my state and go from there.
How do you get leads as an independent when just starting out?
Are you referring to paid leads?
@@KennyJTV Yes, I think so. I just left another comment on another one of your videos. I’m going to reach out to you soon for a mentoring session. I need some guidance and I love your style and channel.
@@babyboy1971 Look forward to hearing from you!
Hey brother, thank you for a great video. I would like to start my own agency like yours. Can you help me?
What’s up! I would love to. I shot you a text I got your notification for a call.
How long were you at SF before you went on your own?
5 months!
My biggest question is how do I get the connection to shop with 20 carriers? How do I get in contact with the carriers and get permission to sell?
Usually joining a cluster is the best way!
@@KennyJTV I guess my question would be specifically how do I join a cluster? Like do I reach out to each company specifically or can I do some sort of application online?
I’ve been in the business about 8 months INDEPENDENT and is having a hard time. My IMO really just push by leads. Like $1000 a week. I don’t have that kind of money.
Sounds like you’re not with a great IMO. It shouldn’t be like that.
whats your comp rate?
90%
@@Es-sc7lh what type of leads? what type of premium are they placing for $1000/week? either they arent training how to work leads the best or theyre just actually wayyy overpriced.
I recently got my license & want to go the independent route. Getting my E&O tomorrow, how do I get set up with the Insurers? Do I just reach out on their web sites? Thxs
Hi! Yes you can reach out to them or join a cluster. If you need someone to write your E&O I may be able to help!
@@KennyJTV can you help me? I'm trying to go through the process of becoming an independent agent. I've also subscribed for more information
If you have a L&H insurance license, can you work as a captive medicare agant and sell life insurance independently?
Depends on the company you are working for.
@@KennyJTV Ah okay thank you!😊
@@keonnioliphant8260 you’re welcome!
As of now do insurance agents still go door to door?
I can speak for myself, I don’t go door knocking. I take advantage of social media.
💰💰💰
Is captive hourly???
Depends on the agency.
Y not go both :)?
That’s not possible.
🐐
Thank you!
All the folks on here talking about being with an IMO haha guys we are talking about P&C not those chitzy senior products
He does P&C and life and health.
