Out of all the c4’s my all time favorite would definitely be the mighty ZR-1 and the last of the last grand sport. Man there getting hard to find especially in great to excellent condition with low mileage. I’m personally looking for a 95’ ZR-1. Unless one comes out of someone’s collection I’ll be looking for a while.Lol. Thanks for keeping it up for the next generation to admire. These cars don’t get the kudos they should. Since I was 8 I always liked them, now I’m soon to be 47. This young generation only cares about numbers and not the driving experience. Sad. Good luck with you beautiful vette.
Nice that you stayed with a C4 ! Your video is really well made !
I will share it on a French Corvette forum ! :)
Thank you very much, I appreciate that!
Not just a great preforming car but one of the best designed Vettes
most beautiful Corvette ever!
Like your channel!
I'm originally from Appleton, but live in Santa Teresa, NM now.
Have had 9 vettes to date. Currently, a 1996 Collector's Edition coupe with original paint and 57,000 miles.
I'm 75,retired, but still play with guns and Corvettes. Enjoy your GS!
The ZR1 gets most of the C4 accolades, but to me... the Grand Sport is the C4 to get. Well done! Beautiful car. And yes, avoid O’Hare whenever possible. LOL! :)
im happy for you, I have had 5 c4's , I always say im getting a c5 or c6 but the c4 is a hell of a value for the money, I currently have a 93 c4 40th anniversary with all the bells and whistles
Congratulations on your purchase, sweet ride ! Great video thanks for sharing !
Beautiful car. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. You did a lot of work on this video and the effort is appreciated. I always liked the sleek look of the C4 generation, Also like the pop up headlights and the clam shell hood that exposes the engine and front suspension. I think the C4 generation sometimes doesn't get the respect it deserves. It really was the start of the modern Corvette. The later generations would not have been possible without the C4.
I already loved the C4 Grand Sport from Gran Turismo 3 and 4 for the PS2 but just watching this video made me love it even more.
It's been a half year since you posted this video, and I'm not up on all that you have experienced with your Grand Sport because I just happened on this posting, BUT I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and effort to share your collecting adventure. It just makes me so happy to see you find and acquire a premium collectable, previously owned by a serious collector who appreciated and husbanded it as it deserved. I truly applaud your decision to maintain factory standards as much as possible. It is perhaps not an exaggeration to call your experience of acquisition a dream of all true car lovers. Your Grand Sport is BEAUTIFUL. In my mind it's name is Serendipity.
Great video, love the C4 Grand Sport. I’ve owned a 93 C4 and at present own a 2000 C5 which I’ve personalised and really enjoy owning it but would happily trade it on the right C4 Grand Sport. Enjoy and keep it original other than doing regular maintenance.
i live in Tennessee and looking for a 96 GS right now, thanks for the video!
Absolutely spectacular Sir, a stellar specimen, final year of the C4, yes I would also recommend to keep it largely stock, because it carries historic significance and value in that. It is a very capable sportscar to enjoy, plus it is definitely investment grade, and will only increase in value from here on in.
Apart from maybe some enhancements, and bolt ons, fresh brakes, modern rubber and a bit suspension components, alignment and setup, and maybe free up some additional, horses and torqies through giving it a freed up exhaust and improved breathing, it is perfect and should be kept factory stock.
Congratulations again on it Sir! Truly an All American iconic sportscar.
I enjoyed your video. I am in Quebec Canada and own #589 that I purchased in 1998. Having a gazillion feet of snow during the winter I only get to use it during the summer. It has taken me to many places. Love the ride but I am looking at maybe trading it in for the new C8 but I will decide when the snow melts here in May. LOL. All i wanted to say is that I can relate to your video. I have had a blast driving it, but you need to be careful as in Quebec I am the only one to own one therefore I can be easily spotted! So much for goin incognito! Be safe and enjoy the skunkster!
wow, what a great car, i love all the old-"papers" that came with it.
Congratulations ! One of my all time favorite Corvettes.
Love your grand sport c4 . It’s absolutely gorgeous. Never forget the game on ps1 I used to play (Gran Turismo) and this was one of the kind I always choose
Congratulations! Just bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it's a great car! So enjoyable.
Awesome video man! C4 GS has been my dream car since I was a kid! I'll finally be able to afford one here in the near future! Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out!
just came across your video, nice!! Great to see C4 admirers out there. Was my first. Currently have a 2012 GS but am looking to add a C4 to my garage. Always kept a place in my heart for it. Congrats!!
Thanks for sharing your buying process :)
Just found channel because I wanted to see vids on my favorite factory c4. This car is only going up in value. Awesome car and I look forward to catching up on the car. I would love to drive one of these. My dad had a 1997 Trans Am with a 6 speed. His was rare not only because the six speed in silver but no t tops. Silver hardtop 6 speed. This was the top c4 at the time. I love the look of these with the black wheels. They were so far ahead of their time. Again awesome car!!!!!
Prices have gone up a lot already on the grand sport. nice car
Indeed, I had it reappraised for my insurance and it’s way higher now than when I got it. And they say cars can’t be investments! ;)
Nice video, thanks! Beautiful car. I remember I was in my first year of college when these came out. I was pulling out of the parking lot of the college and a guy was sitting at a stop light in a brand new Grand Sport convertible with the red interior and he was blasting out Van Halen I. Still remember that to this day.
Your Grand Sport is beautiful!
I have a "poor man's Grand Sport", IE a 1996 Collector Edition LT4, and the LT4 definitely has that extra kick compared to my Dad's 1995 LT1.
Every year (in mid May), there is a C4 gathering at the National Corvette Museum, and we get to drive our C4s on the NCM Motorsports park track, it's a ton of fun and I recommend it very highly! Hope to see you there next year!
I'd love to have a 96 Grand Sport some day. It would be cool to have a Corvette as old as I am.
Looks like an excellent adventure. Congratulations on finding this car.
At 2:45 It also has different Heads.. I have a Polo Green 96 LT4 6-speed... That's a sharp GS, very nice indeed ( All manual transmission corvette's came with the LT4 engine with the red powder coated intake & Grand Sport badge on the throttle body with a production run of 5000 cars the rest are automatic LT1's ) But the Grand Sport got the Admiral Blue ( I love that color ) Red hash marks & the White stripe.. Great channel BTW
Nice car love the color! Curious in your other video you said you thought about a ZR1, did you find one and was it more expensive than the Grand Sport? Thanks and I enjoy your videos.
Wow seems like a great find! I just got a 2004 Z06 Le Mans edition a few months ago, I've always liked the C4 Grand Sport though. Enjoy!
This is a winner! You definitely don’t see these very often if at all 👍🏼
Great video man, very informative. Just bought mine today. 96 Grand Sport, 3700 miles. Stoked to get it...
i WAS SECOND OWNER OF #0355 z51 Black interior.
I installed A set of Magnaflow mufflers.
They make an ecact factory looking replacement that with no other mods sdounded really nice.
deep throaty rumble and maintained the factory look.
I actually new a guy when I was in high school who bought one of these new. These were very expensive (and still are).
Beautiful car keep both cars
Gorgeous car and looking forward to seeing more vlogs on it 😃👍🏼
Been a dream of mine to own a Vette (C4) when I retired. Now that I’m am a 51 yo retired Firefighter that itch has been getting to me and I’ve been watching your C4 vlogs and dreaming. Last week I bought a 93 40th ann edition and am in love with the car. She may not be car show ready just yet ... but she will be and I’m excited to tinker with her. Thanks for sharing you beautiful new ride and love the channel 😎👍🏼
You know what would've really made the Grand Sport just that much more exclusive is if they used the ZR-1 wider rear end, since they discontinued the ZR-1 in 1995. That would have made it just about perfect ;)
It would have been very cool if you had Shane Morgan do a Billy Gibbons / ZZ Top move, and toss you the keys with "Every girl is crazy for a sharp dressed Man" playing in the back ground. He is definitely sporting a first class ZZ Top beard.
Excellent video. Awesome car. It's great that it came with all the promotional paperwork.
I bought one of those new Corvette owner info packages from a guy whose father had bought a new Corvette in 1996.
Really nice how Chevrolet gave new Corvette buyers detailed information / documentation. Unfortunately the info package I bought didn't have the video with it.
I have already learned a lot about my 1996 LT-1 C4 from you, but I'd like to get a copy of what's on that VHS tape to see if there are any other bits of info I could learn.
Awesome C4 Grand Sport. Really nice and clean underneath. Hard to believe she's 23 years old.
Definitely interested to see what she puts down on the Dyno.
Have a great Summer Bud.
That was definitely a missed opportunity with Shane that is for sure. As for the VHS video, I was going to capture it and post it, but it was already on UA-cam.
Here is the link if you want to watch it: ua-cam.com/video/5-B1Pa33z90/v-deo.html
Hey Bud.
Did you see on the C8 unveiling last night, when they showed a Corvette from each generation, and your Grand Sport was the biggest picture on top, center of the series of pics.
Pretty cool !!!
:)
Beautiful . Ive been thing of getting a corvette found a great one here in Dayton 1996 base 6 spd manual convertible 26K miles $16K
You can't go wrong with a low mile LT4. 96 was the only year they made that engine (in vettes) and I think that will make any C4 from 96 that has it only increase in value over time
Go bucks baby!
Nice car, just got myself a 96 black all original low miles and love it
Congrats on the car. It looks awesome. Good luck with it and looking forward to following along.
Thanks man, and sorry if I disappointed in not joining you on the C5 train, but, someday it will happen. I still have my eye on that '03 Z06 someday.
@@13Scorpio no worries, I can't blame you lol.
Very cool vid, I grew up in kc, cool to see you picking it up there
One of my absolute dream Corvettes. The only other modern Corvettes I would rather have are a C6 Z06/ZR1 or a C4 ZR1.
Gorgeous car. I may pick one up soon
Nice GS. My son wanted me to get one. But when I found the ZR1 with a Marc Haibeck engine package he was totally on board.
Congrats! Love the Grand Sports.
Congrats again man! Beautiful!
Thanks man, I can see why you love the LT4 with the manual so much! It really is a blast to drive, I was sorely missing out with an automatic in my yellow one.
Hi. Really like your videos, nice job. What is that jazz piano tune inn the airport scene? Hope you are loving the grand sport. Cheers.
You were talking about doing a muffler delete. Let me give you some Corvette history. Like you my first C4 was a standard 96 Coupe. I swapped out the factory exhaust for a B&B and still have the original exhaust from that car. Now for the Corvette history concerning the C4 exhaust systems on the ZR1 and what that meant to the other C4's. The 90 to the 92 ZR1's had a bit of restriction in the center muffler. The exhaust actually tapered inside causing some restriction. The 90-92 ZR1's because of this respond favorably to either a cat back or a complete change including headers. GM solved this problem on the later 93-95 ZR1's and they are a pretty good exhaust. What they learned they also used on the last of the C4's in the 96 cars. So your car has good free flowing mufflers. These systems don't go bad generally. Other than changing the exhaust for a nice looking stainless system and change of sound, personally I'd leave it alone on the GS. Remember it's only original once and you have a great looking Grand Sport.
Sweet.. are you the dude that had a yellow one? I just watch a video here and there, nice video, very enjoyable, I have two c4's and one c5 , I love all vetts but the c5 really is much nicer....now I watched the end of the video , so I guess you answered my question.haha good day..don't do a thing with it but enjoy it
Beautiful car. Those are the only black rims that I like. I own a 94 white convertible with Z06 rims.😎
I found my C4 when a guy traded it, and a C7 for a C8. I think that’s gonna happen a lot.
Oh my GAWD.....SO clean.
I've ONLY seen 2 IRL....
(BTW, I love how every "boy racer" copies the GS and puts the 2 hash marks on the driver's front fender! 😝🤣)
Cool story. Well done. Very happy for you.
not sure you realize but that's not a C5. 😂 You tried but couldn't stay away from the C4, I see. That thing is crazy beautiful, man. Have fun.
I love traveling in my GS!
Loved the video man
that's a beautiful c4 you got there
1997 gran turismo the car i would aalways choose
Congratulations
Great video editing!! wish I could edit that well for UA-cam too/ very nice looking grand sport/ I own 93 ruby red 40th anniversary c4, I don't live far from you Kenosha/Racine
Thanks! Right now I am just using "iMovie" on a mid-level Mac, nothing special. It is very easy to use. Just takes a lot of time editing...I probably put over 20 hours into this video, but, I have a habit of "over-editing" as well....spending too much time on really little stuff only I would notice in the end result.
Beautyfull car! I want That 😀👍on a day. C4...C5 dont know jet.
Funny you saw the GS at Bill Kay, I looked at that car when I bought a 96' Collector's Edition from them. I think you got a great deal on yours. Looks nice
I have a 96 grand sport too. I got it on awesome condition and super low mileage from a older couple who used it as their weekend car. Got it for only $6000 too lol
Man that's so crazy that's a beautiful car I had got a 94 that says Grand sport got the LT four or five motor in it I can remember but I wasn't sure I didn't think they did grants works until 96
Dang this car is insanely clean for a 96'
What a great video really interesting.
Excellent video!!
Good for you bro! Excellent GS
PS it's super easy tp unplug the speedo at the trans
I feel like everybody who ends up with a C4 started by looking at a C5. Same here. I was set on a 01 C5 6 speed, came across a 90 C4, then ended up with a 91 AFTER owning a red 94 that was a complete junker.
My brother in law is a Corvette person, and I used to rag on him calling them - Little plastic boulevard dragsters- Cause I'm a JAGUAR person, i have several (7). HOWEVER I just bought (haven't received it yet) a '96 Grand Sport CONVERTIBLE, one of 190 with 21k miles. It's the only Corvette I would ever consider buying. So here I am. CONVERTED, well see how this works out, I haven't told. ANYBODY not even my daughter who lives next door.
It looks nice man 👍 congrats
Much appreciated!
You can tell a big difference between that LT1 & LT4.. That difference feels way more than 30 horses.. If you didn't have to pass emissions i'd say get your ECM reprogrammed so your fans kick on before the temp hits 215-225 degrees? I haven't got mine reprogrammed yet but i'm seriously thinking about it because seeing that temp gauge hit 225 makes me a little nervous about rod & main bearings riding on the crank because the oil gets pretty thin once your engine goes well past being able to boil water... Awesome GS BTW & i'd still hang on to the yellow one if at all possible... Take care & have a good one
Can you elaborate more on the financing and insurance on the Grand Sport? That would be very intriguing to know...
I love this car 💟💟💟 im to Poland all the best 🤗
Nice video. I subbed.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
This is gonna be my first car
Nice vdeo! Enjoy that GS #C4stillrelavant
How about comparisons to your yellow corvette? Is it worth the upgraded? Besides the collectibility factor
Badass.☑️💙
What's amazing about the 1996 Corvette Grand Sport is that there were only 1000 made !!!
Not many people can enjoy one !!!
congrats!!!!
may i ask how much was it to ship? wouldn't it be even with the flight cost and travel same as shipping? i plan to buy a C5 Z06 from FL to NY, wondering on shipping cost?
how is the ride comfort compared to the yellow one? also, did you ever have it dyno tested yet? Thank.s
One of my favorite
Why do some of the 1996 models have the two stripes on the front fenders ? I've saw red ones that have two black stripes. Does this mean it's a Grand Sport ?
What a beauty
Thank you! The car looks nice too! ;)
The chrome Grand Sport sill plates are not factory. They were an accessory available through Year One. 😎
Would you know where to find those door sills
Shane had an epic beard.
He really did!
Love the GS but you’re basically paying a 300% markup for “collectibility” case in point I just picked up a beautiful Torch 96 LT4 Convertible with 50k for $10k a similar GS is around $30k...if you just want the look you can just buy an Admiral 94-95 and slap a White Stripe and wheels etc on for well under $10k...I do think 13Scorpio got a great deal on this GS at $23k compared to similar cars out there...
Totally agree with you. Its funny you mention that, because one day a guy came up to me and asked if it was a "real" Grand Sport. Told him yes. He chuckled, and said most ones he's seen were just what you mentioned, someone adding stripes and such. Honestly, I don't plan to have this car for a real long time, so, I just feel like it's caretaker until the next owner to be honest. Just hoping we get a bit more appreciation in value by then...
Congratulations on the car! It says you have z51 suspension. But I am not seeing an adjustable suspension dial between your power seat adjustment controls. It also appears you have the correct yellow shocks. Maybe I'm missing something on the Grand Sports? Either way beautiful car ! Cheers
Very well stated ✌🏾💯
You don’t wanna mess with the exhaust, you will have bad droning in the cabin. You’re better off keeping it stock, they did it for that reason.
My yellow C4 had muffler deletes, and it honestly wasn't that bad. Enough rumble to hear it, but, not too bad cruising at speed.
@@13Scorpio you have a nice car!
Why did you choose a GS over a ZR-1?
Quite an adventure, well done story on how you fell in love and eloped with you mail order bride, lol!
;)
I'mma scorpio ♏ too
I had #901 sold it back to Buyavette to buy my wife a new car. The dealership I was going to trade it to, wanted to hose me. Buyavette gave me a fair price, and it found a new home in Texas.
Nice
Where can I find these door sills. Grand sport.
I’m pretty sure these were stock on the car when new, but I have no doubt you could find reproductions of the sills at a place like Ecklers or other corvette part suppliers.
