- This is from 1995 (arguably one of the better seasons as it had the perfect combination of both British and American performers at this stage).
Colin was known for songs that weren't very good but ultimately very funny. In the American version he had honed his song talents to perfection - but here the gag is how rubbish he usually is.
I love how the third chapter of this UA-cam video is called "Varane" because the presenter said that "we haVE RYAN".

i've never watched the British version, so this is the only time I've ever heard Colin actually sing. Weird.

Miss Josie Lawrence was definitely underused in America. Reminds me very much of Miss Kate Bush!😂 As for Tony Slattery, from what I understand fear of flying across The Atlantic prevented him from bringing his tremendous talent to Los Angeles!🤔📺B.W.
This was Tony's last show, he was fired soon after because of his performance in this episode. By tis time he was an alcoholic and used other subtances, which exacerbated his deteriorating mental health. He had what he called a "complete breakdown" in 1996. This was also Mike's last episode for a while, as we quit in protest of Tony's sacking.
I saw on an interview from I think 2018 that by the time the American version came around Tony had relapsed. He told a story about his New Year’s Eve 1999 party in a pricy loft he rented for the night. Basically him & his friends threw a sofa out of the window into the river & the cops called them three times that night or something like that. I just don’t see ABC which is also owned by Disney having someone like that on their network. From what I remember he said he didn’t get recover recover till 2003 or 2004 something like that but by that time the ABC version had stopped recording new episodes.
I saw a clip on here of tony and Richard doing improv/ stand u. He was actually really funny!
You know, right before this game, Tony did a bit rubbish in Party Quirks and Clive said jokingly (about Tony) "in fact I don't think we'll have him on the show ever again." And sure enough he hasn't!
