Plus I remember beating this in an arcade as a kid with one quarter. There was a huge plane you had to fight at the end, and it doesn't come out here in this version.
This game was at my local arcade 1988, with Shinobi, Rygar, Ghosts and Goblins. My local hang out after school. As a 8 year old, my dad would say not to waste my pocket money on video games. 😂
This is much better than the NES version, because it was one of the very first Capcom games released on the NES in late 1986 and it was really bad, because Micronics developed the port, and Capcom published it.
The next game will be “1943” which it was released a few years later in 1988 and it was a much better sequel to this game where you can fight enemy ships and planes.
Nonsense!! I played this game all through the 80s in Germany - in several arcades. My personal record: With the first plane up to last 4 stage (first Okinawa "city" stage). At the end I had 16 planes left... BTW: Do you know what symbol came for 10 extra planes? A big Greek Sigma! I've forgotten the color but even back in 1985 I thought this bit of programming won't be seen by many players ever - yes, I quite mastered the game (this and Marble Madness). Two greatest games ever! Those were the days...
@@jarladin8501 Things that were seen as violent were banned as they didn't want their kids growing up to repeat the past. Toys such as Omega Supreme had their tank barrels removed and replaced things such as radar dishes. It makes sense, if you think about what was going on in Germany at the time.
I could believe that this game was banned in Germany. The title itself pretty much lets you know that it involves World War II, one of Germany's hardest times when Hitler was in charge. So I wouldn't be surprised if that was also one of the contributing factors.
The only arcade game I ever completed! What a blast from the past.
My old memory remains.... Really famous game during 80s...
