Want to build on your natural talent and learn along with other students who share your passion? Performing arts high school could be perfect for you.
Step 1: Begin the process early
Begin your application process early. Application deadlines may be as early as the winter before the fall semester, and some schools have waiting lists.
Tip
While it never hurts to aim big, know the level of competition you'll face and the commitment that will be required if you're accepted.
Step 2: Find application information
Find the school's Web site, read the application information, and download the application. Note other requirements, such as photos, videos, letters of recommendation, or auditions.
Tip
Alternatively, call the school's registration office and request that an application packet be mailed to you.
Step 3: Complete the application
Fill out the application completely, and collect required materials and application fees. Have your adult advisor look over your application.
Step 4: Submit the application materials
Place the application and materials together in one packet. Mail the packet early so it arrives before the application deadline.
Step 5: Audition or interview
If a school requires an in-person audition or interview, follow the instructions to be sure you arrive on time and prepared to perform or discuss your experience as required. If you're not sure what to expect at the audition or interview, ask your advisor or your contact at the school.
Tip
Be yourself and show that you're serious - and passionate - about a performing arts education.
Step 6: Prepare for the results
Allow yourself to relax once you've completed the audition or interview. It's a tough process! Passion and hard work are eventually rewarded.

The information in this video is for rural, suburban schools, NOT for major schools teaching the Performing Arts.
For the major schools, students are required to audition. The audition will require two prepared works, an improvisation and a personal interview. It is best to get all the information from your school guidance counselor and to prepare early.

i really want to get into a performing art school because i have a passion for pencil /charcoal art. But the only problem is my mom doesnt really support my interest in art, she wants me to do or be something greater in life.
I have a question( anyone could answer) Let's say u get bad grades in 7th grade (81-84 average) and the high school you want to go to requires 85 and above grades. Is it POSSIBLE to you to get accepted if you get GREAT(95-100) grades in 8th grade?

V Sutton This is late but for ny creative writing audition (I got in btw) I had to bring 3 pieces I wrote beforehand, I had a 15 minute interview and I had to write a monologue, a poem and a short story on the spot.

Miranda Bryant depends on just how much dedication you take in your art, any doubts you have about yourself will be your downfall, my dedication is what lead to my success of becoming fully operatically trained in just 4 years as well as improving greatly in acting. You NEVER should doubt yourself and always way strive to improve, push yourself as hard as you can, those who are the most successful have been unsuccessful and discouraged by everyone for years. i go 2 a Performing Arts high school. i hate it. i didnt know it was until my first day when there was no woodshop, autoshop, or anything kool. it was the only skool in the district i could go to.
