PUT THIS ON SPOTIFY YOU COWARDS
Been listening for 37 years. Never wore Levis since then.....
Rockin' and Romance CD is currently still available from Twintone Records.
Ufo men on this planet is Jonathan. It is compliment.
The really famous rock bands put on very slick shows, carefully crafted and usually exactly the same every night. I saw Jonathan play a small venue , years ago, and even his band didn’t know what was coming next! Sometimes he stopped playing halfway through a song to talk to the audience, sometimes he would shout out a new key change to his band halfway through a song. He was actually there with us in the room, not just going through the motions. The best rock show I ever saw.
omg i saw him twice in edmonton 2018 and 19 i think. I had basicly the exact experience as u! One time jhonathan paid to get in at the front door and just casualy walked in and right up on stage and started palying lol
I've seen him twice with the same experience. He is amazing.
Richman is the modern strolling minstrel who can always put a smile on even the grumpiest of grumy faces. Life is always better with a Richman in it.
An unconditional love of rock & roll, of frayed jeans, of the beach, of chewing gum wrappers, of Bermudan flowers that almost knock you down, of the night sky, of the past, of the present. My affection for this record is, like true love, utterly unreasonable.
This comment is beautiful, thank you! its that UFO love!
Jonathan Richman wrote "My Best Friends Girl", "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard", and "More Than a Feeling".
@@deadheaders86 Have you not confused him with Ric Ocasek, Paul Simon and Tom Scholz?
@@santasprees jojo is a songwriter first, and performer second. There was a lull in his career, and he wrote binders of songs and arrangements. I guess he wrote SOS by ABBA, And I Ran by Flock of Seagulls, and I'm Sticking with you by the velvet underground.
I've been listening to this since I was 16. I'm 19 now so I guess not much time has passed. But I will definitely still be listening to this for many years to come
ME SINCE 16 TOO,BUT NOW I M 50
@@kk34545 me too :-)
I've adored and loved it since it came out. Still keeps me happy at 65:-)
I have this on vinyl from first release. For years I did not have a record player so when I received one for my 61st birthday, this was the first record I played!! So lovely.
Why isn’t this on Spotify 😢 one of the best albums I’ve heard!
I saw Jonathan live in summer 1985 when he was touring for this album. (I think Andy Paley was on drums, but that might have been the next tour,) Anyway, I had Bruce Springsteen tickets for the same night, Aug. 5, but when I heard Jonathan was playing I sold them. NO REGRETS! Still have the ticket stub for JoJo's show at DC's tiny (and now defunct) Club Saba.
my dad used to play this around me when i was a little kid. it’s very nostalgic to me now
I only have an old LP of this fantastic record and no way to dupe it digitally so THANK YOU for Posting this!!! I Must Be King makes me complete.
Have you guys heard 'SA' ?
Relatively recent album of his. That's every bit as good as this one!
This is so legendary!
I have no words for Jonathan
Such a shame it cut off at the end of Chewing Gum Wrapper 😢
Jonathan brings such a beautiful texture to music. I love how if you close your eyes, it feels like he is your friend singing to you with his guitar.
Finally! Much much much love and thanks
I lived in Wellesley, right next to you, then moved to Austin in 2012 and our lives went downhill from there. My husband, an MD at MGH, Professor at Harvard. I played him your songs, he loved you. So I love your songs too.. At least I own a house and you know, Wellesely girls - if you need a house you and your wife, family - if you need a home, for you and your wife, I have a big one and will happily have you. WE LOVE YOU!!!!
Fantastic album! Thank you.
Someone should make a full-fledged musical with Jonathan Richman's life. Full of his songs, obviously!
OMG, MY sister lives in Martha's Vineyard and addicted to M &M'S before covid, we'd fly to my grandma's house in Bermuda. Also, my Atty MONE was in Farrelly brothers movies as was my psychiatrist. my high school boyfriend played me RADIO ON...... He got me home too late. I Had to go to bed, grounded, then sat on the turn of the stairs, out of the side, and to my surprise, dad sang 'RADION ON.....I'm IN LOVE WITH MASSACHUSETTS, UP ALL NIGHT. With my teenage boyfriend. my dad was an artist, so loved Vincent Van GOGH. Did I love the Gardener MUSEUM TOO! museum of who-b was-she? Walked around with a tiger. Massachusetts eccentrics every second house.
