The incumbent BJP, which is seeking another term in the coastal state, is facing a challenge from the opposition Congress, new entrants Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, setting stage for a multi-cornered electoral contest in the state. The campaigning for the Goa election concluded on February 12, and the fate of 301 candidates will be sealed during Monday's voting. The counting of votes takes place on March 10.

Mgp's votebank is the maratha community of goa who migrated to goa during 60s and 70s. Bjp is supported by saraswats and brahmins who are the original inhabitants of the land.
