Building Custom Shaker Cabinets [Rod Building Table]

A few years back I started building my own fishing rods. Since then I have been wanting to build a table dedicated for building rods. I keep putting it off due to my lack of free time. Life has finally thrown me a bone and I have a break in my to do list. All there is to do now is cut, cut, glue, and screw.
Since the rod building table is going to be where it can be seen. I want it to look good. Like it fits into the room. Therefore, I decided to make cabinets like I built for the home we hope to build one day. After building almost all the cabinets for the house. I still have quite a bit of wood left. This is going to be a budget build so that helps a lot.
Although I am using birch plywood and oak boards for the drawer faces. There are many options if your looking to make cabinets on a budget. Especially if you plan to paint the cabinets. For the doors you could use poplar or pine. This would be a significant cost savings. There are also many different options for the cabinet plywood. I found all my birch plywood at a salvage store. I bought a whole truck bed full for a fraction of the cost. Shop around and price check big box stores and salvage or surplus stores. This saved me a lot of money on cabinets for our future home.
