Wow, wow, wow! Your teaching tutorials are just the best! I can use the techniques that you teach in so many other subjects! I've never watched your videos live but the replays are my go-to on Wednesday nights! Thank you very much for all that you do!
I couldn't believe how before my eyes you transformed your painting into such beauty! I mean, I believe it, because it's you, but it is still so amazing to watch happen. You mentioned we could offer suggestions for next week - with this inclement weather arriving as if winter was just beginning yet we are April now, ... I would love to see some flowers in watercolour! especially from you. p.s. many were expressing their thanks to you this morning - if anyone is reading this, another way to thank Shelley is to take one of her workshops! Check Shelley's website!
RECOMMENDATION FOR TUTORIAL: A video on mixing skin tones would be great with some examples such as Asian, Caucasian, dark skin tones, pale and gold tones, etc. Thank you.
Beautiful! After seeing your tutorial, I am looking forward to do it myself! Especially the technic for the sunlight hair flyers is new for me! Thanks!
Shelley, this is lovely!! I've done this, but realize now that I didn't have enough layers...therefore didn't achieve the depth! Thank you! Plait is another word for braid...(I'm old)
Great tutorial. Thank you. When would you paint in the skin tones? Before, after or together with the hair? Can’t figure out how to integrate skin with the hair.
If the hair is darker, it’s probably easier to do skin tones first. Skin tones after if the hair is quite light. Take skin tones into the hair line and soften the edge to integrate them together.
Not really my kind of subject, but still enjoyed watching the process. And the final painting was fantastically realistic. 👍🏻👍🏻. Reminded me of the face/ hair in a Botticelli painting I once saw.
I’ve come to realize that even though I may not like the subject, in my case I’m not a huge fan of painting flowers, it’s learning the technique so that I can apply it to a subject that I do like.

It’s absolutely beautiful and extremely helpful. I’d love to see how you paint in the facial color and back without ruining the hair.
OMG !!!!! So beautiful !!!!

Fabulous vid. Plait(ed) hair is the British word for braids. 😉

Thank you, very nice techniques.
Awesome demo!! Could you show us how to paint muscles? Maybe an athlete or a dancer?
