DIY PAINT CORRECTION ON A 17 YEAR OLD CAR *MEGUIARS ULTIMATE COMPOUND POLISH WAX*

- Hi Everyone, hope you keeping well and safe.
Here I made a video on how to DIY paint correct your car with products easily accessed from your local Halfords. I started off by washing the car and gave it a good clay bar(ing) off camera then used Meguiars Ultimate compound to remove the swirl marks, after that I jumped on to the Meguiars Ultimate Polish to further remove what was left and polish the paint ready for the last step to protect the car which I again used Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax.
I also made use of my dodo juice buff daddy DA POLISHER and some mixed SPTA pads.
The finish was really impressive especially considering im a complete novice when it comes to detailing, let me know what you think!

@@Mk4heavenHD I'll spread the word on some mk4 groups. Did you find that a 3" pad would have been worthwhile or did you manage with the larger 5-6" just fine? Going to go down this detailing route myself but trying to keep costs down hey!
Matt Crawford - Thanks mate, I found that the 5” pad did the job great in the big areas and a smaller pad would make like life a lot easier on the smaller areas. But having said that I actually managed with the 5” pad just masked off all the rubbers to avoid them staining.

For compounding use the yellow pad for polishing use the white pad
Actually, it entirely depends on the brand. The standard colors for compounding/cutting are Orange, Burgundy, or a Microfiber cutting pad. For polishing, the most common colors are yellow, blue, and green. The softest pads, also good polishing are normally Black or white. All of this depends on the hardness of your paint, the amount of correction needed, and preference. You could mix and match all of the above. Most importantly, don't bite off more than you can chew, and just get out there and do it.

My polisher was bought online mate, it’s the dodo juice BUFF DADDY da6. For the pads you can use any decent pads mate I got mine off eBay.

I tried using polish and compound and the scratch is still there..... I thought it was powerful but there r some more cheap products which does the same amount of work like Meguaire is
Hi Mate, meguiars compound and polish will not remove deep scratches only minor ones. There is harsher compounds like cutting creme for the deeper ones but this harsher stuff requires you to know how to use it otherwise you can go right through the paint lol.. I’m sure there is cheaper stuff out there but I prefer to use something I’m used to using like meguiars.
If you can feel the scratch with your finger nail it’s usually too deep for paint correction, and would need touching up/re spraying
Any one know perhaps where I can find a wooden Bora steering and the wooden door panels and wooden gearknob🙏

Well spotted, I forgot to mention that off camera I had clayed the car prior. When I did the video on the new arch liners I touched up the arches and had overspray which as a result made me just clay the whole car.

My only comment and with 20 years experience. I don't agree with your pad selection, unless your colors are identified differently than mine here in the USA. Black is for polish and wax application. Red is for compound. I use an orbital buffer after applying ultimate wax. I have the complete Ultimate line from car wash to wax and Fast Finish sealer, which you don't really need since the ultimate wax is a synthetic.
Hello mate, I am not a professional detailer and this was my first attempt at it so I followed advice from watching videos online.
I didn’t use any of the pad colours as my gauge I went by stiffness the stiffer pads for compounding, the less aggressive pad for polishing. I was very pleased with the results.
How long does the compound and polish last?
Hi mate, if you referring to the whole 3 stage process its approx 6 months. The key is to keep topping up the wax every 6 months after doing the correction.

@@johnnyboi6342 yes you can mate, I use auto glym spray wax and that does the trick.
