Finally, someone is reacting to Rita Coolidge! She is one of the most underrated artists of the 70's. Her voice is unparalelled, in smoky sexiness. Please do more from her earlier albums.
I don't hear this song much in recent years compared to other popular oldies songs. But this is a classic that deserves more attention, even 50 years on.
LOVE this song - brings back a bittersweet memory: Loved everything about Rita Coolidge - she looked like an earth goddess to me and her voice - so feminine yet her strength somehow penetrated my heart. I was 26 (1977) and married to an irrationally jealous woman when this song hit the radio waves. I had such a crush on Rita Coolidge then - but I had to keep quiet about that when my crazy wife was around. Once while in the car this song came up and when I reached down to turn the volume up my crazy wife lost her mind...the ensuing arguement / fight ruined the whole day. I just could not get it through to her that my feelings about Rita Coolidge was in no way a threat to our marriage...we finally divorced some years later - thank God! LOL
This was actually a cover of the song written by Boz Scaggs. Usually cover versions are not as good as the original but this was an exception. She really made it a landmark recording both with her voice and the overall arrangement. Boz himself must have been really pleased with this.

Others have covered "We're All Alone";but Rita did it Right.

Her soft tone made the song so soothing.

She sang Love Came for Me from the 1984 movie Splash. It was the first dance song at my wedding in August 1986. Beautiful, give it a listen!
I have this album. I bought it in 1977. She was married to Kris Kristofferson
I love her, but I like Boz Scagg’s version better. Please listen to his version. He wrote it in 1976.
