Bees Cleaning up Burr Combs Burr combs are chunks of wax bees build to bridge the gaps within the beehive. They act as extra storage space for the bees. Burr combs are often filled with honey or drone brood. Burr combs are normal in a beehive.
Remove the burr combs to keep the hive neat and easy to manage or when there are excess drone brood (usually in spring). Since there are valuable resources on the burr combs, let the bees do the clean so they can recycle the resources.
