Thank you Nemo for this long term testing review. For me, I wanted everyone to see this amp as an EL34 amp because I voiced it with EL34 tubes. However, the TS34 can take KT88 and that takes on another character wtih KT88. That is why I had to discontinued the TS120 standard edition because the performance of TS34 with KT88 was so good that it no longer makes sense for me to offer both products. The standard edition will still have the stronger bass but the speed of the TS34 makes up for the differences.
@@MasterofPlay7 Yes, but the TS A20 is probably more holographic than 80% of the tube amps I have listened to so just because a system has tubes, does not automatically mean it has 3D holographic soundstage. In this comparison, the TS120SE is a bit more holographic.
One of its unique features is that it has a sound profile selector A/B/T. It's a big omission not to talk about it and indicate in which mode you did perform your listening and what were the differences. Sorry if I missed it in the review.
T is just to engage the tone controls, I used them to make sure they work but otherwise left the amp in the default A mode. If you have questions beyond what the review covers the manufacturer is always available. Reviewing gear is already very time consuming, most reviewers cannot and do not review every single aspect of a product, this is very normal.
yeah I used it with all the speakers I had, it sounded good with everything, the murano have a lot of bass but the TS34 was able to control them without any issues, I think the pairing together is very nice, you'd end up with a sound that is technically very capable but also enjoyable and emotional. The Galion TS34 paired well with every speaker I had and the Murano paired well with every amp I had, each product seems very flexible to partnered equipment.
@Nemo Propaganda : Nice review, and I already plan to see it again in coming days ( it is getting late here ), for it’s wealth of valuable information and findings. I own the entry level Black Ice Audio FX10H ( running on EL34 ) for six months, and I am again in the market for an upgraded Tube Amp. The Galion ZS34 is on my short list, as is a better model from Black Ice such as the F35 V2. Where I still am looking for advice is on amps using the 300B tubes, such as the Muzishare X9. I hear a lot of excellent reports about these 300B tube, but then again, you can find opinions which call them over-hyped. My room size is 4 x 5 meters, approx. 12 x 15 feet. I’d be keen on your immediate thought based on your experience, and if not, it is also fine. Thank you again for an excellent review, both with factual information and personal experience, and good storyline.
I have only heard 1 300b amp but the inexpensive china brand 300b tube amps seem to be a dice role, some people enjoy trouble free perfromance while others experience early failures and improper designs. I have the Willsenton R300+ and it's rock solid but when I reviewed it a few people complained saying they had problems with theirs, I don't know anything about muzishare but 300b amps are usually very low wattage, like 6-8 watts, personally that's not enough for me, my room is about the same size as yours. I have not heard the black ice stuff either, the Galion TS34 is a very powerful tube amp with a neutral/muscular sound, soon I will review the Brunoco Terra 6L6, that's another really great amp, little more expensive, different sound than the Galion though. If the galion is all about being powerful & muscular the Terra is all about expansiveness and separation. The 300b willsenton is not as resolving as the Galion TS34, I don't know if this is a characteristic of 300b amps or not though. Sorry I don't have a ton of experience here.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you very much for answering, and your comments are very valuable to me, especially regarding power. I had a chance to listen at an 8 watts / channel class A amp at a colleague's home, and it performed very well under quiet conditions, but when turning up the volume, it became clear that the amp is " running out of power " and was lacking that capability to fill sound in a medium sized room. I never ever hear something like that, it is difficult for me to describe in English, but it was very clear. Regarding equipment from far East, I am lucky in 2 out of 3 buys, and was out of luck for 1 of the 3 buys. This was for DAC's and class D amps. Since that experience, I call $ buys from the Far East " Las Vegas " money, that is the $ you use to play in Vegas. You can be luck and you can loose. In any case: Pleasure talking to you, and I'll report back on my further endeavours and path forward with Tube amps.
Nemo I have to ask I have to complete different speakers . (1) set of Magnapan LRS+s, and (2) a set of open baffle's with 15" coaxial divers and 18" bass driver. Being so different in efficiency maggie's at 83 and the opens at 97. Your thoughts on the TS 34 or the 120se?
XLR is not very common with integrated amps because for it to really do anything you need a true balanced design and most integrated amps are not true balanced designs so if the amp has XLR it's really just single ended with an adapter on it for conveneience but its not real XLR usually. The connection is large and takes up space and since its not real XLR you can just use an XLR to RCA cable or XLR to RCA adapters if you want a fake XLR input for some reason.
100% agree!! I only go to outdoor ranges now and double up on hearing protection but I think it still takes it's toll :( When I do these loud volume tests its only for about 30 seconds or so which is below the threshold for hearing damage at those levels but I totally get what you mean, my right ear is a little weak compared to my left already :(
Thank you Nemo for your review of the Galion TS 34. I know that Thomas focused on vocal presentation in the development of this amp. What did you notice about this? Also, did you have the opportunity to run it with the Cabasse Muranos (you may recall me telling you I purchased the Muranos after seeing your review 🙂)? If you did pair them, I’d welcome your sharing of any observations you experienced with the pairing. It’s appreciated!

What's the best amp for 3d holographic soundstage in the Galion lineup?
@@MasterofPlay7 TS120SE for tube and TS A20 for solidstate.
@@ThomasAndStereo I heard you said tube is better at 3d holographic soundstage, in this case if you have to pick one between 2 which is the king?

@@ThomasAndStereo is the TS20 a push and pull design? Also how big is the transformer/power consumption since is class A
I have had my eye in this since its release.
Thanks for the review

What was the listening distance when you measured the Arendals at 87dB?
about 7.5ft

So hows the 3d holographic soundstage? Is it better than the R300?
Galion TS34 is a notable step up from the R300+ in every way. Of course the R300+ is still amazing for it's price.
Can the TS 34 drive magnepan speakers?
I've never tried magnepans myself, please contact galion audio.
Get the bigger model and save the money for shipping. It looks really to beautiful to use
Still $1k difference, for some it may be too much, both amps are really great though :)

pure class A is one output tube per channel, multiple tubes are class A.
what about class A solid state then?
What's the real difference between pure class A and class A? Never heard of such a difference based on the number of output tubes .
