Crazy that my old sprinter (leisure travel van) had the option to just keep the camera on. Was great for watching my bikes on the back and if I was holding up traffic that was tucked in beside me. Awesome hack.

Just got mine and it works exactly as it should. Totally worth it for some piece of mind when wanting to check around the vehicle when moving over 10mph.

Unfortunately, this is US$ 250 (as of 1/7/24). You can add a clip on rear view mirror/camera with integrated front view camera that is always recording (such as the AKASO DL12 for US$ 109 on this same date). That way you save money, have live and recording cameras front & back, and are looking for the rearview scene where you are used to (at the rear view mirror). I have used this unit in my pick up truck for the past 2 years delivering new campers and have not been disappointed.

Very very cool! But I gotta tell ya, I installed a rearview mirror dashcam and IT IS AMAZING!!! (and it frees up my dash screen for navigation, radio display, etc). I was skeptical and also didn't want to hassle with install, but it wasn't too bad and only involved an acceptable number of swear words.

Thank you for the video. Great job! Is this can be use as blind spots monitoring? Not sure how far it can see on both side lines.
The birds eye view is good for blind spot monitoring in my personal experience.

@chad&paul I have a 2023 sprinter passenger with the 10.25 MBUX setup. I tried multiple times following this video but no luck. I wonder if there is a timing issue when removing the OBD II programmer module? I’ve even tried the different setup directions from MCE’s website to no avail. Hopefully Mercedes didn’t patch up this hack with the 2023 models. Bummed. If u have any suggestions I’ll definitely try those out 🤞.

5 out of 8 of my 2019 Sprinter recalls were for software updates.
I’m wondering if this “Hack” is visible to a Mercedes mechanic and could cause an issue with warranty?

That’s neat. They hacked the speed sensor part of the camera feature. Basically turned it off and encrypted it probably by the VIN in the body computer. I think it’s a cool thing to be able to control. 👍🏼

Hi Guys, do you have any idea how to connect and headset mic for a passenger narration for Sprinter 2022? The goal is to talk to the passengers via mic when driving and they can hear you from all the speakers, when not talking you can play music, etc.
I have a question when you’re at the stoplight and you have the rear camera enabled as soon as you start going. Does it reset back or does it continue for the camera to stay on?

There are headunits that now allow you to turn on all cameras whilst driving and cycle through each camera in your 360 system..
Look for t'eyes, ownice and there are many other headunits similar to this as well.
What radio unit are you using. Do you have a link for it so I can order it
I saw the button... you have way to see a 360 degree stitched image on your display? I'm just thinking about live 360 security without having to select each lens.
Since we're use to looking up at the rearview mirror to see behind us. Was looking down at that angle hard to get use to? Has it become natural now? Side note, what's that tat say on your bicep? Thanks for video.
We use both! The camera is excellent for seeing in your blind spots and also monitoring any gear you may have in the rear. And the tattoo is action (over) intention. Part of the inspiration for us quitting our 9-5s and moving into a van! 🙌

I considered this but while you use the nav screen as your rear view mirror, you can't use navigation or any other options on the MBUX screen.
Can I disable active lane assist with that?
Would this work on 2023 sprinter? My understanding the tube has to be change for it to work, is that true?
How can I get the camera system itself that's in this van?
Will it work on 2017 Sprinter I am in process of installing an after market camera in stop light with no written instructions it has RCA pigtail on round pin screw on directly from camera to want to hook to existing cables to factory monitor in dash and switch for views when driving. If you know how or can direct me to someone to aid me it would be greatly appreciated.
Pretty awesome, but for $250 it had better ensure that the ECU won't become compromised with a later update. I'll wait until the next update on the VS30's and see how this goes.

I’ve tried installing the Mid City 360 cam programmer on my 2023 Sprinter Passenger with the 10.25 screen and 360cam from factory. Wasn’t able to get it loaded. Followed all directions to a T, but no luck. Sent it back to Mid City and they said the programming didn’t make it all the way to the ECU. Tried once again to install it LC but no dice. Right now it’s looking like a $250 paper weight. 😢

I went with installation option 2. ”Always-on” programming (option 2):
The alternative programming method removes the 10 MPH cutoff and any time the 360 camera is on it needs to be turned off manually by pressing the camera button.
For example, if you shift into reverse and then to drive the 360 degree camera will be on automatically in drive- with this programming option, the 360 camera view will stay on until it is manually turned off. See instructions as you need to use left blinker during the setup process.

That is a great mod.... my sprinter only has the regular back up cam (not 360)... wish MCE had a version that would work with that.... I was ready to order.

@@GOLDVIOLINbowofdeath If you have 360, you will have options to see that view..... I only have a rear view and wide angle rear view.... look at the interface in the video versus what you have.
It'll work as long as you have the parking assist function. I have rear view only camera

In the demo video on the MCE website it looks like the video feed times out after a certain amount of time. Is that how yours behaves, or does it stay on until you turn it off manually?
We drove with it on for a while and it didn’t time out for us.
I just wanted to say that the main reason I "liked" this is because of how you asked & that you didn't say "smash" the line button. I can't stand that! LOL

Yes I believe so! You can double check with mid city on that to confirm though.

They should have an option to connect the camera's to a tablet or something so you have 24/7 night vision while you sleep so you can see if trouble is outside the van without needing to get up and go to the window.
For 250$ it would be nice if it was an option to turn on with the blinkers for better lane changes.
We have a 2020 Winnie Navion on a 3500 frame. Iasked my Mercedes Sprinter mechanic about re-programming things to be able to use backup cam at speed and he told me that if this is detected at a service, it voids all warranty because of the “driving distraction” !
Aside from the cost of this hack device, I would miss being able to view the map and music stuff.
So, I’m going with a wireless stand alone cam that replaces our useless rear view mirror.

I ordered one for my MB Sprinter 3500. The programmer did not work. It did nothing at all. Waste of money so far. I think the newer versions of the MBUX system have eliminated the possibility of this to work.

It's hard for me to believe Mercedes doesn't make their vans more useful. The rear view mirror should be a screen. The cameras should be recordable for security.
