For someone who's taking & singing requests on the fly (LIVE)without advance preparation, I'd say Gigi has done a superb job of expressing and story telling in this particular performance. Other singers probably wouldn't have been able to finish the song without mistakes and would have been all over the place because you're right about the need to memorize the lyrics. So considering the situation, Gigi for me has done a great job at it

Of all the reaction videos I've watched you're the only person that got fixated on her reading the lyrics. Maybe if you just looked away for the whole song and just listened to her you wouldn't arrive at your observations. But then again this is a reaction video, so I won't blame you for that.
