  • The UNI New Horizons Band began in 1999 with 17 members and has grown to its current size of 80+ members. This band welcomes anyone age 50 and older and the most senior members of our group are 90+ years old. ​Band members in the UNI New Horizons Band come from Grundy Center, Waverly, Janesville, Floyd, Readlyn, Sumner, Fredericksburg, Tripoli, Dysart, Hudson, Jesup, Denver, Charles City, Maynard, Oelwein, Dike, New Hampton, Shell Rock, Waterloo and Cedar Falls.
    The Community Music School, an outreach program of the UNI School of Music, believes that "Music Should Last a Lifetime!' and offers a variety of musical opportunities for members of the Cedar Valley community. Classes, ensembles, and lessons are offered year-round for students of all ages and abilities. All CMS events are held on the UNI campus in the UNI School of Music facilities and other appropriate area community sites in Cedar Falls and Waterloo, IA. Music lessons are available on woodwind, brass, keyboard, percussion instruments, for voice, as well as, group piano classes for adult beginners, Music for Little Mozarts piano class, the Children’s Choir, the New Horizons Band, and Camp Musicmania.
