    I’ve lived in both and think they both have a place in your life. London was great for career growth and opportunities. Edinburgh was a great place to grow up + also settle down - better value for money (private schools, houses & activities).

    So, you expect visitors to Edinburgh to have no interest in culture? Why not a single mention of any of Edinburgh's festivals? Aside from the official Edinburgh International Festival, there is the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - the largest arts festival in the world - the Edinburgh International Book Festival, the Edinburgh Science Festival, the Edinburgh Television Festival, not to mention the world famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Why no mention of these, which make Edinburgh unique?

    Grew up in Edinburgh, live and work in London now.
    In many ways there is really not a lot in it. Both are really more similar than you think, except London is drastically scaled up.
    My personal choice is to stay in London. On a like-for-like basis the cost of living is a photo finish and London just has so much more going on, better weather, higher salaries and more work, Edinburgh is only four hours away by LNER if I must be there. But I do know in either city it will never be possible for me to match the very high quality of life I enjoyed as an Edinburgh child in the late 1980s, when my parents were the same age I am now. Just impossible - property prices and the economy have gone all over the place.
    In my experience the people bigging up Edinburgh are newcomers and outsiders while most of the locals are just normal people who are either living quiet lives or are fed up of the place. But it cuts both ways, as I big up London despite not being from there.

    I grew up in my Edinburgh and while it’s fair to say that you’ve captured most of the good points of it, you haven’t visually represented it accurately! Why have you used video of Venice canals instead of Edinburgh ones, I’ll tell
    You why- because Edinburgh canals are unattractive and Venice ones look great! Also, it wasn’t made clear that the images of the Natural History Museum, in London were actually in London- implicitly suggesting it was in Edinburgh! As for friendly Edinburgh locals, you’ve obviously never visited during the Festival period, as folk from ‘Auld Reekie’, as we refer to it, are jaded, unhelpful and rude at the best of times- some are even proud of it too!
    So, I think your video should have highlighted some of the cons as well
    as all the pros you mentioned- to give a more balanced view. Yours was more like a advertisement for Edinburgh City Council. Hope you see this constructive criticism for your next video!😊

    Why Mr AI did you suddenly start showing Eilean Donan Castle, 5 hour drive away (near Skye) and Venice (1340 miles away) when you started talking about Edinburgh's canal? Up until then, seemed quite genuine, though the markets did look like Waitrose or Sainsbury.

    I've lived in London and Edinburgh, both are fantastic. Most of this list is nonsense though, London is just as good as Edinburgh in nearly all these areas, and better in some.
    The one major exception though is accommodation costs. Edinburgh is actually more expensive than most of the country for buying and renting, but it's still nowhere near as expensive as London. In Edinburgh I lived alone in a beautiful flat in a nice area for much less money than I pay in London for a place in a shared house in a mediocre area. I really miss that flat 😭

    The two aren’t comparable! Different cities, no doubt Edinburgh is lovely, but it’s not a world city like London, Paris, Barcelona, Rio, New York, Bangkok, Istanbul, Sydney… etc…etc

    Two reasons not to go to either.
    1. Sadiq Khan
    2 Nicola Sturgeon.
    Unfortunately, Sturgeons tenacles reach further than Khan. If you want to be part of a community try somewhere else other than a city. I rest my case.

      Yes, I think after careful consideration, NEAR to London is probably the best solution.
      The weather is better.
      The continent is nearer.
      So long as you don't need to go the central area every single day.

    • @rsqyoung
      @rsqyoung 3 роки тому +1

      @@JohnTaylor-bf6ll if you can live nearer to London, yet are unaware it is there and avoid the Sturgeon, Drakeford or Khan, you are probably nearer heaven, than hell. Possibly Gloucestershire or Dorset? Somerset might be an option but similar to Gloucestershire there is the awful Bristol, a City that once had so much promise... IMHO

      Nicola sturgeon is first minister of Scotland, not Edinburgh. It's like saying don't live in london because of boris Johnson, such a silly remark, Scotland is a big country not a little hamlet somewhere up north that most southern english seem to think.

    • @rsqyoung
      @rsqyoung 3 роки тому

      @@stevens6547 yes, Boris could put you off living in London too. I live in that little hamlet called Scotland with large but mostly barren garden with a huge rockery and a large number of ponds. I can just about see Edinbugh from here.😊
