- Fuerteventura Canary Islands Holidays
These are my top 5 places to go in Fuerteventura Canary Islands. You should never be stuck wondering what to see if you are coming for a holiday in Fuerteventura. Hopefully this will help answer your question "What is Fuerteventura like?"
1. Cofete
Right down in the south of Fuerteventura. There some absolutely spectacular views on the way to Cofete. Once there the beach is lovely and there is a nice little cafe/restaurant for a drink and some food. Villa Winter is also located there. It was used for the parting of the Red Sea rather than the Dead Sea as I say in the video! Thank you for pointing that out Ruthjaah (although I can't reply to your comment for some reason).
2. El Cotillo
El Cotillo is the nicest fishing village on the island (in my opinion) and is a great place to visit and to stay. The beaches are wonderful and varied. There are some great restaurants too. Don't forget to visit the Toston Tower and the lighthouse. More information - www.elcotillo.net
3. Betancuria
This is, by far, the prettiest village on the island. It was once the capital of Fuerteventura and is now a quite little tourist destination, nestling amongst the mountains in the middle of the island.
4. Lobos Island Fuerteventura
This a great day trip from Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura. You can get there on the glass bottom boat or Lobos ferry, or, as we did take a catamaran sail there. Great for walking, swimming and sightseeing.
5. Jandia/Sotavento Beach
This beach has lovely yellow/white sand, clear blue water and goes on for about 25 kms. There are lots of roads leading off of the main road to Morro Jable which access the beach. It is used by clothed, topless and naturist sun worshippers throughout its length. You could combine it with a visit to Cofete.
See you on Fuerteventura island soon.

The guitar player in Bentacuria was amazing. His music so smooth, it made me day dream of beautiful calm sunny destination.
He is and is often there playing too.
Great watch for a cold dark December day in London.
Actually it rained here this afternoon and was very windy. Thanks for watching and for your comment Gary.
You live in paradise! I love your awesome beaches! Someday I want to dip my toes in that water!
You would be welcome any time Monika. Actually I will be doing a video on that very subject of paradise next year. Thanks for watching.
Wow. Just wish to visit that kind of place.
It is worth the trip. Thanks for watching.
Hallo JP...
Ja das sind die schöne Plätze auf fuerte...
würde noch dazu sagen die Dünen von Corralejo , Ahuy und Mirador von La Pared...
Liebe Grüße und nur weiter so....
Leo aus Wien
This place is very charming to visit 👍
It is Ferninandus. Thanks for watching.
In love with Fuerteventura! Caleta is a beautiful place and we love it. Been 7 times in the last 4 year's. Amazing to see your videos, miss the place.
Thank you for sharing.
Well, rightly or wrongly, the island is opening for business again this week so you can come back. Thanks for watching.
All beautiful JP. Roll on December 23rd 👍🍀
Not too long now Liam
Hi JP Great to see your channel and nice that you live on the Island. My name is Ray (Floatwithme) a Dutch composer. In my collection there is a film composing about Fuerteventura I have done. We have visited it last year for summer holiday again. I just love the island and been there a few times. Keep up that great work. Cheers Ray :)
I have just watched your Fuerte video and some of the others. Lovely stuff and great soundtracks Ray. Thanks for watching.
@@JPinFuerteventura thank you so much for the support, I really appriciate this a lot. Cheers Ray :)
Thank you for sharing ❤️. New friend here ☺️
Thanks for watching. I will take a look at your channel too - good luck with it.
JP great filming mate. I am back there in May love this island. Starting to explore it more each time we come. Intend to explore the south of the island by car as we always stay in Caleta. Thanks for the ideas 👍
I would add the caves at Ajuy to this list too now. Have a great time. Thanks for watching and the comment Paul.
Amazing. Thanks for sharing
Nada más para ya ❤❤😂
Ohhh wie grossartig 😍👍
Danke fürs zuschauen Bettina
Cheers for the video, a couple of great tips there for us on our holiday next month
I hope you have a great time. To this I would add the Caves in Ajuy now. Thanks for watching Parkash.
Look at that water 😱
Lovely isn't it
Danke dür die Tips. Bin in 4 Wochen in Fuerteventura!
Danke fürs zuschauen. Eine gute Zeit haben.
So, for me, any one of these spots looks amazing!!! Thanks for sharing them with us.
Well pop over and try them out Elisabeth
Thanks for the invite!
JP very impressed with your relaxed VLogs. I quite envy your lifestyle something I thought I would do but my partner does not want to take the plunge. Having visited Fuerteventura for over 20 years and made over 30 visits mainly in the Southern area of the island, I do like La Olivia area where you live, accessible to everywhere. Don’t stop the VLogs...
Thank you Michael. Not wanting to leave grandchildren behind seems to one of the biggest reasons people have for not actually making the move. It isn't for everyone. Thanks for watching.
Jandia auf Fuerteventura die schönste Gegend das beste Wetter jedes Jahr im Januar wieder Sommer:-)
Überall ist Schönheit, besonders an den Stränden von Jandia. Danke, dass du Natalie beobachtet hast.
Having visited Fuerte & determined to go back soon I agree with all you say except Betancuria. IMO a completely spoilt tourist trap. Lovely location but I wouldn’t have been surprised if Disney had managed the refurb
Each to their own I guess Don
Wow Jp those are some amazing panoramic views! For some reason I thought it would be more lush and green!
There are some great views here. Well it is greener at the moment as we have had a fair bit of rain this year so far (well for here - not by UK standards). Everything grows in the winter and dies off for the summer so it doesn't look very green in the summer. You should visit and see for yourself Bob. Thanks for watching.
Great video JP. Been to Fuerteventura a couple of times, can't wait to get back again. Keep the videos coming, they are a great inspiration and are very well made! Merry Christmas to you both!
That's very nice of you to say. I will pass it on to Sue - she went to the UK today for Christmas leaving me and the dogs to ourselves. I hope you have a good one too.
Very good. I live in the middle of the island and am always looking for new places, especially when people come to stay. My 5 are quite different but your Jandia beach segment has given me an idea for some German relatives coming over soon.
Which are your top 5 Stephen? I would be interested to know. I would add the caves in Ajuy to my list if I did the video again.
Another great vlog JP. I visited Gran Canaria for the first time in October, thought it was fantastic. Could see myself living there within the next couple of years. You're living the life that thousands upon thousands of brits wish they could. I guess you were brave enough to go out there and do it. Continue to film informative and visually good vlogs!
Oh, I loved your vlog about being a morning person. I could have made that, I hate mornings. I'm an owl, wake up late and go to bed in the early hours.
Thank you Mark. I have only spent one day in Gran Canaria incredibly and that was almost 20 years ago. Night owls are nicer people ;-)
Mark Saunders ,
Thanks for the lowdown JP, hope we get to see some on our short visit (and perhaps meet up as suggested?)
I hope so too. How long will you be here and when?
We'll be staying in Lanzarote, so we'll just be over for a day trip, hoping to film as much as poss'. We should be free any time between 1st - 5th March. Any of those dates preferable for you? Otherwise I guess we might just pick the least expensive day to go by ferry (if it makes much difference?)
That is a bit too far in advance for me to know so any date. I don't think the ferry prices vary very much. Just send me a message when you know which day and hopefully we can arrange something.
Sounds like a plan JP, will do.
Nice one JP. My wife and I are in Fuerteventura until Saturday evening. I will show her some of your suggestions. We fancy the zoo, but the beaches here near here (Parque Holandes) are pretty good, although the weather looks crap tomorrow.
Certainly if you just drive north from Parque Holandés to the start of the dunes beaches it is hard to beat them. Unfortunately it doesn't look very promising for tomorrow. Perhaps Oasis Park (the zoo) might be a better bet. Enjoy the rest of your stay and thanks for watching and commenting.
John, danke. Toolll!!!!!
Thanks Paulina
Thanks for sharing the beautiful video of Fuerteventura...i've been to the south of Spain but never get to the islands...greetings from indonesia and best wishes for 2019...:)
Well I have never been to Indonesia either unfortunately. Maybe one day. Thank you for watching.
Thumbs up ere' JP, nicely put together! Now I know where to visit! Lot of hard work but well worth viewing - many thanks for sharing :-)
Thanks Shaun. The last edit of the year as next week's is already done and scheduled. Thanks for watching.
JP in Fuerteventura Look forward to it :)
I love fuerteventura been there 6 times x
Hopefully you will make it seven soon. Thanks for watching.
Wish I was there John well edited have a great weekend.
Thanks Keith. Is it the weekend again already? ;-)
thats my second channel is a music channel! i am so thankful for your support
Nice place
It's not too shabby. Thanks for watching.
Hi JP thank you for your videos.I’m travelling alone with my two children to Corralejo next week.I would like them to see other part of the island. What is best form of transport and not costly.Bus routes? Many thanks
The buses are reliable and fairly cheap but the routes are a little limited. The best way is a hire car but if you don't want to do that then booking an island might be best for you. At least you would see most things in one day.
@@JPinFuerteventura Thank you very much for your reply. Also any recommendations for good restaurants around there?Thank you in advance for any suggestions.Regards
@@favad29 I never recommend restaurants. What one person loves another hates. There is a whole range though right down to a Burger King and a recently opened KFC (sadly).
Very nicely done, JP! :-)
Thank you sir
I have been to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Me and my girlfriend have a dream about living in the Canaries. None of us like the cold weather or the stress of North Europe. Then again we can not just move. How can foreigners create their own living in the Canaries? Obviously it would help in Fuerteventura if I was a pro at kiting or wind surfing. In GC I could work with tourism or a salesperson for time share. But it does not interest me and I don't have experience in that. Another thing is which Island to live in. We didn't like Tenerife so that is out of the question. We don't know Lanzarote well enough so that leaves two. I think GC would be our best option, but it does not seem very realistic as living there is not free :D
Interesting video. I also liked Cotillo very much.
Making a living here certainly isn't easy. What jobs there are tend to be poorly paid unfortunately. GC would have more opportunities I guess as it is larger. It is hard to say what is best. Thanks for watching and for commenting and good luck!
So Nice video!
Most enjoyable
Thanks Mark. And thanks for subscribing. Will check out yours later tonight.
Thanks
Awesome 🙂
Thank you. Happy new year.
We love your information Irene and Bill from New York. Do you have an email where we can contact you ? Bill's email is billcaral@yahoo.com

Hi JP! We are hoping to visit the island again in October. Are there cycle lanes anywhere to be found on the island, do you know?
Yes, there are various cycle paths, all built with EU money, but not everywhere obviously. There are also plenty of tracks you can ride mountain bikes on.
@@JPinFuerteventura Ah ok, thanks! We will be staying in Jandia, so hopefully, I can find a cycle path around there to rollerskate along :D
Great Vlog. Thanks JP
Thanks Sarah. It won't be long until you are here.
JP in Fuerteventura Back in January for my birthday 😁
Is that for good?
JP in Fuerteventura No. permanent move should be by next Christmas 🎄
Thanks for the advice on where to go! I was wondering on if you could advise on the weather late Feb - early march? Would it be possible to swim? Also would I notice much difference between costa calma, corralejo and caleta de fuste? I know other Canary Islands have big variations between north and south.
Hi Ryan. It is always possible to get a little rain then but I would be pretty sure you will have mostly lovely weather. You can swim year round here. There isn't much difference between north and south as far as the weather goes here. In places like Tenerife it does because of the huge mountain in the middle. Thanks for watching and your comment.
RyanS in my opinion you should go to bronze mar beach it's an English speaking hotel plays English speaking songs so songs that are trending and has stuff on at night time has all inclusive and it is in caleta da fuste
@@oisinbarker5889 Or stay in England! There are english speaking people, english songs, english food...😂😂😂
Use Autoreisen - but book online
Autoreisen - aber online buchen
Hi, I"m looking for a real opinion regarding the weather at the end of April. Can you give me a short description, please !? Thanks
Well if it isn't absolutely lovely at the end of April I will eat my hat (well I would if I had one). If you watch my last two April vlogs it will give you a good idea - 2017 - ua-cam.com/video/mRhjGugRI3A/v-deo.html and 2016 - ua-cam.com/video/a2OtRNhNwEQ/v-deo.html I hope this helps
Do you get tornados often a lot or less like the uk does? And great vids by the way
We never get tornados fortunately. Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Have you ever been to Aguas Verdes yet ? We get their nearly every holiday to our one house. Its also a very great place.
Sorry for my english, i am german, trying to communicate with you, im sorry bout thatXD
Hi. Yes, I have made two videos about it. Aguas Verdes: Sleepy Coastal Hamlet - ua-cam.com/video/opjKjJjVI4U/v-deo.html and Shattered Dreams: Villa Charlotte - ua-cam.com/video/SinHOK5Vgsk/v-deo.html Thanks for your comment and please do not apologise for your English - it is better than my Deutsche!
Thanks for you reply!
Im going to fuertefentura
I hope you have a great time. Thanks for watching.
Same yay
i add support again
Hi JP I'm in Jandia next month and want to see the island, cn ou recommend car hire place near the Club Princess hotel?
great vids by the way.
Hi. I live in the north of the island so unfortunately I have no idea what hire car places may be close to your hotel. From past experience it is often cheaper to book online before you leave for your whole stay and pick up and drop off at the airport. That also saves waiting for transfers too. The most often recommended are Autoreisen, Payless and Cicar but avoid Goldcar. Also worth trying booking agent websites like doyouspain.com and low-cost-car.com - Thanks for watching.
Lobos island and Jandia beaches I never got to ... do still want to visit jandia but need to hire a car as the public buses took forever
A car is the only way. I assume you haven't been to Betancuria either then. Give it a go next time Paul.
JP in Fuerteventura did bentancuria on an organised day trip through the travel operator need to pluck the courage up to hire a car and drive on the other side of the road so I can explore more
What dou you think about majoreros?
Just like most groups of people Kevin I have met some really nice ones and some who are not so nice. I suppose the one thing I don't like is the attitude of many to dogs, hunters in particular.
Should have added Playa de garcey with the american star
Hi Serpentine. The American Star disappeared completely some years ago unfortunately. Thanks for watching.
Oh yeah, Forgot
Hey do you have any footage of her at Garcey?, Also her the torn up mangled remains of her are at low tide.
Is it true that the northern part is windier than the southern part?
Well it is true that the prevailing wind is from the north-east, so it hits the north first, but I am not sure it makes much difference. Kite surfing is just as popular down south as in the north for example, if that is an indication. Thanks for watching and commenting Adrian.
thank you for your fast response! i'm leaning towards morro jable now but still not sure yet
What time of year are you considering? Morro Jable is probably one of the only places down south that actually feels Spanish. Jandia and Costa Calma are just tourist resorts, dominated by huge all-inclusive hotels.
1st til the 12th of May I think. Still a bit torn if I should go to Fuerte or to Tenerife because of the wind but the beaches in Fuerte are definitely more beautiful by far. Me and my boyfriend is looking for a place to just relax and swim, sunbathing while reading books, etc.
The weather will be lovely in May. Take the plunge and go for Fuerte! 😉
I know that Isla De Lobos was counted as part of Fuerteventura XD but good job anyways
That's because it is part of Fuerteventura 😉 Thanks for watching.
Where is this place?? Mexico??
It is where I live. Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic just off Morocco.
