You mentioned you checked to see if the blade is 90 degrees from the table and that your saw was aligned perfectly. How do you adjust it if it’s out of alignment?
This is my first sliding compound saw. The saw, and the operator's manual, were both a little intimidating. Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial that walk you through the initial setup of the saw.
Seconded. Just got one myself. I am a VISUAL learner, so watching a video of the basic features will shave HOURS off of reading the manual and trying to understand how to use the tool. Brand new to electric saws! Thank you for the video!
My new saw is coming in this week. This is the absolute best, easiest to understand, video I have ever seen on UA-cam. It has answered all my questions about setup. THANK YOU!!
Thanks for the video. I just bought this saw and rather than reading how to do it, it is much simpler to watch it being done. Takes the scary out of it.
Kathleen Basieiwcz I’ve read and read and I still was lost because I need color black and white print isn’t my friends at all so once I see it in color photos or video I figured it out and is now happy with setting up my saw
I’ve spent that hour going through videos for this saw. This one was by-far the best one for showing initial setup and alignment checks and showing where the adjustments are. Nice job! Thanks!
I just got this same model and there's no laser. It was replaced with an LED light. I was quite disappointed initially but this may be a better feature change. The LED light casts a hard shadow of the blade onto the wood and shows exactly where the blade will cut no adjustments needed. I followed your guide and everything on mine was aligned out of box. It cut various test woods perfectly.
Great Video! I'm a beginner, and was really nervous about setting the saw up, I didn't want to make any mistakes. Your video makes it easy, giving me a bit more confidence. I haven't set the set the saw up yet, but I'll see how it goes soon.
Thank you for such a well explained set up video you were extremely detailed with your instructions yet easy to understand. You have helped me immensely.

Thank you for your sharing, I bought the miter saw without the slide like you, but the videos still helps
This is a very good review. You covered everything with ease and confidence. It shows me that you know the product.I can only hope some of your lessers that post half-assed reviews here will take the lesson from your ability to teach. I own the saw in question and I like it just fine. The 4800 r.p.m.spindle speed produces very smooth cuts.
Great video, but what if the motor is mounted off square? I adjusted the fence, so it slides straight, but the blade is always rotating at a slight tilt. Is there a way to adjust the motor assembly in a Ryobi?
I've got this same sliding miter saw, it's got great features for the price, but I can never get it to cut square. It's easy to adjust the fence to be square with the blade, but the vertical cut is always off. It seems as if the motor and blade is slightly tilted up.
You prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
@Aaron Idris Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
There is a problem with the laser light that you will notice right around the 4:30 mark. Notice that the laser is shinning right of the drawn line. As he pulls the saw down, the laser light moves to the left and aligns with the line. I thought this problem only existed on my saw, but I see that it is a design flaw. The laser light is really just a rough guide.
Tips. Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / HITACHI C12RSH2 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact. (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). If you want you can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing (test is completed). Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade. Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing.(don't go for that).
My son loaned me the same saw but no user manual. The fence is square with the blade but the blade is not square with the table. It's cutting at an angle. How do I adjust that?
Great Video... I was getting ready to sale my saw and go get different a one. The fence adjustment should help me a ton.... Plus the comments about a new blade!
Use the blade wrench provided to loosen the 4 socket head screws that secure the miter fence to the table. Rotate the fence left or right until the saw blade is parallel with the square being used. Re-tighten the screws and recheck the blade to fence alignment. These instructions are on page 19 of the manual.
I wish you had set the saw out of square before shooting the video. It's frustrating when everything in the video is perfect out of the box. Saying "just do this" isn't nearly as effective as demonstrating what to do.
You should add something more to the title... like how to adjust/recalibrate. I almost skipped your video because it seemed like a video where someone is opening up a box and doing a review on a product. You went way more into how to adjust/readjust, which is what someone whose already owned the product would need to know. So glad I didn't skip the video though, you did a great job!
So you have shown us how to align the fence to the blade by checking the screws behind the fence but not how to align the blade to the base at 90* degrees. That would help you know.
What holds the work clamp in place? I insert the vertical "pipe" in the hole as you show, but it does not lock into the hole. As I tighten the clamp onto a work piece, the pipe lifts up, it never gets tight.
You have to hold the shaft of the work clamp down with one hand while turning the knob to tighten the clamp with your other hand. As the clamp begins to tighten against the work piece, the shaft of the clamp binds against the walls of the hole in which it rests, holding itself and the workpiece firmly in place
I cannot get mine to tighten either. If you hold the clamp with one hand and tight the clamp with the other, the work has a tendency to move. I think it is a poor design and there are no 'words' in the manual to tell you how to get it to work. All the other miter saws have set screws of some kind.
Very important always buy a Slide Compound Mitre Saw with the handle in a line above the saw blade, everything has to be in line Slide bar rails, handle, and saw blade. it's better no tilt saw blade, and engine with softstart
Would anyone know where I could get a replacement FLANGE and ARBOR BOLT for RYOBI TS1342 10 inch miter saw?? Ryobi no longer makes them or sells them. Any other parts I can use instead??
Thanks for the video. Maybe you can help, though. I've been having problems with the sliding action not staying true, and when I've finished sliding through the wood, unless you immediately pull out the left side of your workpiece, the blade makes an annoying indentation. Ugh! I checked and re-checked the blade, the angles, etc., and the indentation was still there. So, chop after chop, I tried pulling the left side of the piece away, or pulling the blade handle to the right, and the indentation seemed to become unnoticeable. To me, this is either a serious flaw with the slide, or just user error. Then again, this is my first miter saw.
Just got the new version of this saw, i did al the adjustmets mentioned, made sure it was level, and perpendicular all of that, but when i pull the blade out on the sliding track it hits the plastic throat at the end. Is there a way to adjust that? AS i said, i did the other 2 adjustments you showed in your video and they seem all accurate.
If you're squaring the blade to the fence there are 4 socket head bolts on the back side of the fence you need to loosen. Rotate the fence left or right until the blade is square with the fence then re-tighten the bolts. Instructions for this step are on page 18 of the manual.
i have this same saw- every time I make a cut dust goes everywhere- I have the dust bag on . Am I doing something wrong? I do 45 angle cuts and straight cuts- both dust goes everywhere. hardly any goes in the bag
I'm sure you've gotten your answer by now... If not, No. You're not doing anything wrong. Unfortunately that's what comes with the package when you purchase a miter saw. Lol. Even the more expensive "professional" brands have issues with it too. Slightly better, but not much. If you haven't tried it yet, you can attach a shop vac to improve it some, but still far from perfect. 👌
Just bought the 10 inch Ryobi miter saw. Your video explained everything. Now I can read (& understand) the product manual.
Thanks for watching.
This video should come on DVD with the owner's manual as "how to use your saw" Video...its that good!. Wonderful job sir!👍
This was incredibly simple and easy to understand. Thank you for helping me fix my saw.
Just picked up this saw and greatly appreciate this video. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
The best ryobi basic setup, much appreciated!! Thank you.

This saw super exceeded my expectations. I also got the matching stand and they are both worth every penny.

Excellent video. I am an extreme newbie and I followed your video step by step. Calibrated then made my first cut with confidence. Thank you!
Just bought this saw as a beginner..Thank you for the video it was very helpful in teaching me the setup process.
Perfect! I've got this new tool just like yours, first time miter saw user. This was the very tutorial I needed to see. It's as if you made it for me.
Great video! Short and to the point of everything that needs to be covered.
Great video! I now have my saw set up.😊
Great!

Glad I could help!
This is the most helpful video ever! Thank you for taking to time to make it.
Thank you, this was the best video I found on youtube to show the details.
Glad it was helpful!
You video was good, because I have one of these saws, and was able to make several adjustments.
Damn great video! Thank you for the excellent explanation. I just bought this saw and I haven't unboxed it yet. 2 thumbs up!
Thanks for the video! You are a lifesaver. I just got mine and the ryobi manual is kind of doo doo.
Fantastically straight-forward video, well
done 👍
Many thanks!

Thank you for the information and great job on the video!
This was the most helpful video ever!!! Thank you so much!!
Glad it was helpful!
i just got this Saw, great video full of good information.
Have a great day.
I just received the 7-1/4 version, and although it's slightly different your video was the first one I found to be most helpful. :)
Clear and concise video. Very nice!
Thanks Eric.
Bro, this was extremely comprehensive! THANK YOU! I SUBBED! 💯 👍🏽
Thanks for the sub!

Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
@Rogelio Porter Happy to help :)
awesome stuff! gonna follow this to re-setup my saw lol
Good luck!

Awesome🥰 thank u for the demonstrations 👍🏾
Thanks for watching.
What about the bevel angle? When I place it at a 45 degree, the arrow doesn't line up with the 45 and just shy.
but what if you need to adjust the blade angle using a square ? i have to do mine.
My son loaned me the same saw but no user manual. The fence is square with the blade but the blade is not square with the table. It's cutting at an angle. How do I adjust that?

This is the best video - thank you.
Thanks! I have one similar to yours but still helps a lot.
My saw didn't just pop up once the tie-downs were removed. I'm having trouble finding what is stopping the saw from coming up into position.
It seems to be the lock pin. But I can't get it to open?
Push down on the saw handle to take the tension off the locking pin, then push the pin to unlock the saw.
How do I get work clamp to stay? Mine keeps moving up as I clamp down.

So you have shown us how to align the fence to the blade by checking the screws behind the fence but not how to align the blade to the base at 90* degrees. That would help you know.
Great video! How has your saw held up? Do you recommend it?
Works great for around the house projects and has held up well. For the price I definitely would recommend.
Hi, thanks for the great video! We have having issues with the blade to table alignment, do you have any tips on how to fix it ? Thanks in advance :)
Watch video at 3:14. There are 4 bolts to loosen to square table to blade.
Thak’s! Awesome adjusment exploitation🤝
Thanks!

Excellent video, thank you!
What holds the work clamp in place? I insert the vertical "pipe" in the hole as you show, but it does not lock into the hole. As I tighten the clamp onto a work piece, the pipe lifts up, it never gets tight.
Did you figure it out? The Internet just says "hold your workpiece with clamp", it drives me nuts.
You have to hold the shaft of the work clamp down with one hand while turning the knob to tighten the clamp with your other hand. As the clamp begins to tighten against the work piece, the shaft of the clamp binds against the walls of the hole in which it rests, holding itself and the workpiece firmly in place

Nice video. Thanks for posting
Beautiful!
Well done video and helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Well done video.
Great video. I heard the blades that come with these things kinda sucks. Whats the best blade for cutting bone?
Diablo ultra finish blade
Very important always buy a Slide Compound Mitre Saw with the handle in a line above the saw blade, everything has to be in line Slide bar rails, handle, and saw blade. it's better no tilt saw blade, and engine with softstart
I just got one is it normal to see some oil on the sliders cylinders ?
What about the depth gauge
Great video
Very helpful!! Thank you!!

I haven't had this problem with my saw. You may want to contact Ryobi customer support and explain your problem to them.
Great video thanks!
Thanks, very good video
Awesome 👏🏼
Thanks!
thank you
Great video!
Thanks for watching.
Great video, how's it been since this video? The 12inch miter saw I have is great so far.
the laser is not working any more, do you know how to fix it please?
Mine didn’t come with the dust bag although it's on the list of accessories
Maybe call Ryobi customer service and see if they'll send you one.
Just a note. When you checked board for square that was cut ;you used side that was not against fence to check against the cut.
Just got the new version of this saw, i did al the adjustmets mentioned, made sure it was level, and perpendicular all of that, but when i pull the blade out on the sliding track it hits the plastic throat at the end. Is there a way to adjust that? AS i said, i did the other 2 adjustments you showed in your video and they seem all accurate.
did you have to put the batteries in for the laser? I can not find the battery cover.
Just looked in the manual and don't see anything about batteries for the laser.
james z the laser is power up once you plug in the saw to the 120v than you have the option to turn it of with the switch
Could you please explain how to square the miter saw? I have one that's out of square and the instruction manual wasn't helpful.
If you're squaring the blade to the fence there are 4 socket head bolts on the back side of the fence you need to loosen. Rotate the fence left or right until the blade is square with the fence then re-tighten the bolts. Instructions for this step are on page 18 of the manual.
what size of blade this saw use?
You didn't explain how to adjust bevel angle if it's not squared.
i have this same saw- every time I make a cut dust goes everywhere- I have the dust bag on . Am I doing something wrong? I do 45 angle cuts and straight cuts- both dust goes everywhere. hardly any goes in the bag

do you know the box dimentions?
For some reason still can’t get mine to cut straight
I would check that the blade is square with the fence.
Wish you specified the price.
How heavy is this thing?
Google is your friend.
