    ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
This video is a bit longer, but I hope it's worth the watch for you! I feel like braiding toddler hair is quite a bit different than some hairtypes because of how fine it is. In this toddler hairsyle tutorial, I'll show you how to do a front french braid. This is the best place to start in my opinion. You don't have to do the whole head, so it won't take as long and it can be done on very short hair as well. If you need more practice and don't have a patient toddler, you can invest in a mannequin until you get the hang of it. I've seen them on Amazon for about $20.
In this video, I also go over a very important aspect before you even start the braid and that is PREP! If you prep the hair well and it's very smooth, it will make your braiding experience better. I show and tell you how I hold my french braids and I'm hoping that part makes sense for you. When I learned to braid, holding the braid was half the struggle. Now it feels natural, but it took a lot of practice! Below are some items I use when I braid her hair, so make sure to check that out!

I’ve been trying to French braid unsuccessfully for years. This is the first video that actually made sense to me! I finally French braided my 3 year old daughters hair for the first time today & couldn’t be happier. Thank you!

You make it look so easy. I am a dad and I have never worked with a girl's hair and don't have a woman around to help with my daughter. I would love to do something like this but I could barely understand what you were doing. :-(

Matthew Daniels so it honestly just takes a lot of practice because holding the braid is half the struggle. I could barely braid just over a year ago, you should see some of my first braids. 😜. Check out some of our other styles that don't require French braiding. Kudos to you for figuring it out for your daughter, she is lucky to have you!

My dad had 5 daughters and he braided all of our hair. He did a really good job for having big ol' construction man hands. Keep practicing and your daughters will appreciate the effort and the love.

If you child has WAVY or CURLY hair soak it in detangling spray NOT water. You will break the hair and make it knot so bad. Their hair will look a little oily and wet for a few hours but soak it up. I prefer the Shea Moisture Hibiscus detangling spray for my daughter's lightly curled hair.

I finally figured out the pattern, but the hold is messing me up. I will keep practicing. Your method is the easiest I have ever seen. Love that you braid and hold the old strand while you grab the new piece. That is a game changer for me!

+Lynette Ballard I'm so glad to hear this! Holding the braid is most of the battle. The more you attempt it, the easier it will become to hold!

Very cute. But I'm wondering why many ppl called it French Braid i'm French and Ive never had that nor my friend when we were young. French ppl don't do braid. However it does look very similar to the the type of braids african women have been doing for many years.
