Meet the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly, along with our three adventurous children. Nine years ago, we embarked on an incredible journey, leaving our home in Alaska, USA, behind to explore the world. As teachers, we were fortunate to find amazing opportunities in Chennai, India, where we spent two enriching years. Seeking new experiences, we then made our way to the United Arab Emirates.
Just as we were settling into our UAE life, the pandemic struck, but it didn't dampen our spirits. Instead, we saw it as an opportunity for another chapter in our journey. We moved to Indonesia, where we currently hold teaching jobs, and it has been a time of learning, growth, and connection.
As a family, we thrive on traveling and embracing the unknown. Adventures are our way of life, and through our experiences, we aim to inspire our children to be confident in meeting new people, trying diverse cuisines, and immersing themselves in different languages and cultures.

As a foreigner I love chilli and spices. And no, I don't like eating with my hands, it's disgusting. The only exceptions to this rule are burgers, hot chips and pizzas.
I am sundanese, and I think sundanese food is one of delicious food in entire world, especially the sambal😁
You could try dishes at famous vegan restaurant in bandung, it's called Kehidupan tidak pernah berakhir, it's on Jl. Pajajaran No.63, Pasir Kaliki, Kec. Cicendo, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40171, Indonesia

The liltte ball ....in Indonesia we called Terong hijau ( green eggplant )... and the little salty fish we called Ikan teri
Just at West Java you don't find sweet tea. The people drink plain tea. But different with the people at Middle Java and East Java they drink sweet tea. What I admire is that all of you like spicy food as long as you stay at Bandung. It's amazing.
In most Sundanese restaurants & warungs (or any type of restaurant & warungs in Sunda), you usually get free plain hot teas (no sugar added) which are delivered automatically to your table when you sit down (most people in Sunda prefer plain tasting teas more)... and i like how it's different from other regions in Indonesia where you basically need to pay for whatever food & drinks that you consume. Shows their great hospitality there by greeting every costumer with a welcome drink.

True. I visited my sister who lives in Bandung with her family and she told me that if I eat at any warungs they'd give me free tea. And so I tested it at a nasi kuning/uduk warung and yeah she was right. The most surprising thing is that they're not holding up with their tea. They literally gave me a big glass of warm tea, not a small cup. She also told me that most bubur warungs would have a big plastic jar of kerupuk that's free. Which again proven to be true. Or well, at least in one place. But yeah, it was really cool of them for doing it

Granite appreciation of asian food is astonishing! Singaporean here and that's exactly is how i love the way to eat my food. Mix everything up and you have a bomb of flavours! Cutey Forest looks so tired that he's been missed!

West Java is heaven for vegetarians. They love eating fresh veggies with various sambals and other plant based cuisines such as Karedok, Sayur Asam, Toge goreng, nasi tutug oncom, grilled eggplant with sambal, etc
For Indonesians in general, chili sauce is a "boost" for Indonesians' main appetite, namely rice, rice also neutralizes the spicy taste of chili sauce, so generally people will put rice back into their mouths without the chili sauce to get rid of the spicy taste, this is done repeatedly, and without realizing it, the rice on the plate runs out and the stomach is full because of the rice. Yes, for Indonesians, rice makes us feel full

8:50 When Sundanese people eat, they always accompany it with raw vegetables (lalapan) and add chili sauce (sambal)
You can also try karedok, kupat tahu and lotek for vegetarian food. All served with peanut sauce.

There's a lot of Vegan's food for Kelly in Indonesia. Sayur Asem, Sayur Lodeh (Jackfruit), Sayur Bening (plain soup with yummy veggies), Cah Kangkung (water spinach), and that Bitter Melon (the dish on Granit's wok), that can be very delicious with just plain rice.
Also for Kelly, I just curious have you ever REALLLLY want to try what your family eats, if it's me I can hold myself
